Important Activities

  • National Orientation and Information Dissemination Conference on Restructured ICDS Scheme was organized by MWCD on 12 January, 2013 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. The Institute provided technical and logistic support for the same.
  • Meeting on Formulation of Scheme called SAKSHAM for Self Reliant Individual for Holistic Development of Adolescent Boys on 23 January, 2013 at NIPCCD Conference Hall, New Delhi. The Institute provided technical and logistic support for the same.
  • User and Technical Training on IVRS-NRP was organized by NRP on 23-24 January, 2013 at NIPCCD. The Institute provided technical and logistic support for the same.
  • Ministry of Women and Child Development celebrated the National Girl Child Day on 24th January, 2013 at A.P. Shinde Symposium Hall, NAAS Complex, Dev Prakash Shastri Marg, New Delhi. Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, Former President of India was the Chief Gust of the function. Prizes to Winners of All India Slogan Writing Competition conducted for National Girl Child Day and All Delhi Slogan Writing Competition conducted during Vatsaly Mela, 2012 were also distributed during the function. The Institute assisted MWCD for organising the programme.
  • Regional Orientation and Information Dissemination Conference on Restructured ICDS Scheme is being organized by MWCD in collaboration with NIPCCD on 30-31 January, 2013 at Regional Centre, Bengaluru. The Institute provided technical and logistic support for the same.
  • Training on Juvenile Justice System for Juvenile Welfare Officers (JWOs) of Delhi Police was organized by Headquarters from 2-3 January, 2013 with the main objectives to: orient the participants to develop an understanding of JJ System; facilitate them to identify and analyse the problems of children in need of care and protection and children in conflict with law; and prepare them to effectively deal with the children in a child friendly way. Twenty-four participants attended the training.
  • Orientation Training on Child Rights and Protection for School Principals and Teachers was organized by Regional Centre, Indore from 3-4 January, 2013 with the main objectives to: orient the participants on provisions of CRC and national initiatives for child rights and child protection including various legal instruments and services for child protection; enable them to identify their roles and responsibilities to foster full participation and realization of rights by children; and prepare a Plan of Action to develop schools into child friendly institutions with emphasis on Rights-Based Approach (RBA). Twenty-nine participants attended the training.
  • Two Job Training Courses for CDPOs/ACDPOs were organized by Regional Centre, Bengaluru and Regional Centre, Indore from 2- 31 January, 2013 and 07 January ? 06 February, 2013. The main objectives of these courses were to: orient the CDPOs/ACDPOs to various components of ICDS Scheme; enable them to understand their own role, as well as the roles and responsibilities of other functionaries of the scheme; equip them with adequate knowledge and skills for providing the job training to peripheral workers of the scheme; and facilitate them to develop skills necessary for administration and management of the ICDS Scheme. In all, fifty-three participants attended the course.
  • A Review Workshop on Food Management in Child Care Institutions was organized by Regional Centre, Bengaluru on 3 January, 2013 with the main objectives to: understand the food service management in Child Care Institutions; create awareness on food safety and its impact on health; and orient the participants on Food Safety Standards Act 2011. Twenty-nine participants attended the workshop.
  • Two Regional Consultations on ICPS in collaboration with MWCD were organized by Headquarters at Pune and Guwahati on 3 and 10 January, 2013 respectively. The main objectives of these consultations were to: discuss the cross learning issues of the implementation of the ICPS with State Governments; give States/UTs an opportunity to show-case their achievements and best practices under ICPS; share the progress made by State/UTs and challenges faced during the course of implementation of the ICPS. In all forty-eight participants attended these consultations.
  • Sensitization Training for Media Personnel on Issues Relating to Child Rights and Protection was organized by Regional Centre, Guwahati from 7-8 January, 2013 with the main objectives to: make media personnel sensitized to the situation of children in terms of their rights and protection; enable them to understand legal provisions relating to child protection; make them understand about the role of media in bringing awareness among public relating to child rights and protection issues; and develop a sense of responsibility among the media personnel to deal with the issues relating to child rights and protection adequately and sensibly. Twenty-eight participants attended the training.
  • Orientation Training Programme on Micro-finance and Income Generation Issues for NGOs associated with RMK (in collaboration with RMK) was organised by Regional Centre, Indore from 7-11 January, 2013 with the main objectives to: orient the members of NGO's to the objectives, beneficiaries, coverage and the scope of RMK schemes for empowerment of women; acquaint them to the concept of micro finance and its relevance to SHG movement; help them to understand the role of NGOs as micro finance organizations for supporting and guiding the SHGs for undertaking viable income generation activities; and develop their skills of the NGOs availing Micro-Credit facilities from RMK in effective financial management and reporting. Twenty participants attended the training.
  • Orientation Training on Safe Motherhood and Reproductive Health was organized by Headquarters from 7-11 January, 2013 with the main objectives to: orient the participants on status of women and children; sensitise them about the importance of safe motherhood and health issues of women; impart knowledge regarding the reproductive health ad reproductive rights; familiarize them with various Government policies and programmes for safe motherhood and reproductive rights and develop strategy on strengthening the family system and community to reduce the impact of unsafe motherhood. Forty participants attended the training.
  • Refresher Course for CDPOs/ACDPOs was organized by Regional Centre, Guwahati from 7-11 January, 2013 with the main objectives to: assess the training needs of CDPOs/ACDPOs; provide a forum for sharing experiences in implementation of ICDS programme; apprise them of recent developments and trends in ICDS programme; update their knowledge in the area of early childhood care and development including nutrition and health care; and sharpen their communication, counselling and managerial skills. Eighteen participants attended the course.
  • Sensitisation Programme for DPOs on Nutrition Issues with Special Focus on Prevention and Reduction of Malnutrition in Children was organized by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 8-10 January, 2013 with the main objectives to: enhance the understanding of DPOs with current situation of nutrition in the state; apprise them about the recent updates and development in the field of nutrition; and equip them with information and skills to develop plan of action to address malnutrition in the districts. Seventeen participants attended the programme. Another Sensitisation Programme for DPOs on Nutrition Issues with Special Focus on Prevention and Reduction of Malnutrition in Children is being organized by Regional Centre, Indore from 28-30 January, 2013 and nine participants are attending the programme.
  • Orientation Training on New WHO Child Growth Standards, MCP Card, IGMSY and SABLA for Officials of ICDS (Supervisors) and Health Department (LHVs) at District Level was organized by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 9-11 January, 2013 with the main objectives to: orient the participants about the Rajiv Gandhi Scheme for Empowerment of Adolescent Girls - SABLA & Indira Gandhi Matritava Sahyog Yojana (IGMSY) of MWCD, Govt. of India; and provide information on use of MCP card and train them to monitor the growth of children by using New WHO Growth Standards. Thirty-One participants attended the training.
  • Two Regional Consultations on STEP in collaboration with MWCD were organized by Headquarters at Pune and Guwahati on 4 and 11 January, 2013 respectively. The main objectives of these consultations were to: review and discuss the proposals/pending cases under STEP Scheme; and share issues and challenges faced during the implementation of the Scheme. In all fifty-nine participants attended these consultations.
  • Orientation Training on Economic Empowerment of Rural Women through Sustainable Development was organized by Headquarters from 14-18 January, 2013 with the main objectives to: understand the economic status of rural women and her contribution; familiarize the participants with various sources of livelihood in rural areas for women; apprise them about the income generation programmes available for women; orient them on managing and strengthening SHGs in rural areas; and provide them necessary basic managerial skills for managing micro-enterprise and small business. Thirty-eight participants attended the training.
  • Orientation Training Programme for Superintendents of Child Care Institutions was organized by Headquarters from 16-18 January, 2013 with the main objectives to: examine the issue of child rights and protection in the Indian context; enable the participants to develop understanding on various issues concerning children, the existing Juvenile Justice the prevailing laws concerning children; orient them on features of ICPS, its components and the role of various stakeholders under the JJ System and ICPS and their inter linkages; discuss the role of superintendents in implementation of ICPS; ensure the compliance of minimum standards of care in Institutions; and build managerial competencies among superintendents. Thirty-four participants attended the training.
  • Training Programme on Gender Sensitisation for Law Enforcement Agencies was organized by Headquarters at Lucknow from 16-18 January, 2013 with the main objectives to: discuss situational analysis of distressed women with special reference to gender based violence; constitutional provision and legal safeguards; institutional and non-institutional support services for women in distress; methods and techniques of working with distressed women; and management of stress and burnout among care givers of women in distress and role of police in protection of women etc. Thirty participants attended the programme.
  • Training on Refreshing Counselling Skills of Counsellors Working under Santhwana Scheme was organized by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 16-18 January, 2013 with the main objectives to: fine tune micro skills of counselling; enhance information on supportive approaches to counselling; and equip participants with skills to handle emotional fatigue and burnout. Twenty-seven participants attended the programme.
  • Workshop on Convergence for Strengthening of Health Services in ICDS was organized by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 17-18 January, 2013 with the main objectives to: review the existing status of coordination mechanism among the ICDS and Health officials; suggest the ways and means for improving the coordination with ICDS and Health officials for quality implementation of ICDS programme; and identify cross- functional linkages between the functionaries at various levels and to develop joint strategies realizing the rights of women and children. Thirty participants attended the workshop.
  • Training of DPOs/Dist. Level Officials on New WHO Child Growth Standards, New MIS and Use of MCP Card was organized by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 21-23 January, 2013 with the main objectives to: orient the DPOs/Distt. Level Officials on new WHO Child Growth Standards, New MIS and MCP card; and enable them to implement the MCP card and the new growth charts in their respective districts. Twenty-seven participants attended the training.
  • Training on Management of Children's Homes for Superintendent of Children's Homes and Officials of Nodal Departments was organized by Regional Centre, Guwahati from 21-23 January, 2013 with the main objectives to: sensitize the officials to the minimum standards with regard to management of homes; develop an understanding on child psychology for creating a child friendly homely environment in Homes; and develop the skill of the officials to be able to manage their homes effectively. Thirty participants attended the training.
  • Orientation Training on Gender and Natural Resource Management Focus on Rural and Tribal Area was organized by Headquarters at Indore from 21-25 January, 2013 with the main objectives to: acquaint the participants with key concepts related to gender, development, resource management and planning with special reference to rural and tribal area; increase knowledge and understanding of linkages between gender and natural resource management; strengthening the ability of representatives of NGOs to integrate gender analysis and planning into their work and understand issues and constraints related to operationalising and institutionalising gender. Twenty-two participants attended the training.
  • Sensitisation Programme on Implementation of Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005 was organized by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 23-24 January, 2013 with the main objectives to: sensitize the participants on locus and manifestation of gender violence; discuss policies and legislative measures to curb atrocities against women especially on domestic violence; analyze the problem and work out strategies for addressing the problem of domestic violence of women; and discuss existing mechanisms/ support services and offer suggestions towards strengthening them. Thirty participants attended the programme.
  • Orientation Workshop on Gender Budgeting and Indicators is being organized by Headquarters from 28-30 January, 2013 with the main objectives to: sensitise the participants on gender budgeting and indicators; apprise them of the concept ad need of gender responsive budgeting and gender mainstreaming; discuss the extent to which gender issues are being addressed trough budgetary allocation; and develop a way forward along with timeline for institutionalizing gender budgeting. Eleven participants are attending the workshop.

Important Activities
  • Anganwadi Worker's National Award for Exceptional Achievement 2006-07 to 2010-11 was organised by MWCD on 27 February, 2014 at Rajiv Gandhi Sports stadium, Bawana, New Delhi. Smt. Krishna Tirath, Hon'ble MOS (I/c), WCD distributed the Awards to AWWS. A scheme for Adolescent Boys "SAKSHAM" was also launched by Hon'ble MOS (I/c), WCD. The Institute provided technical and logistic support for the same.
  • Central Monitoring Unit during the month of February, 2014 has received data of 34 ICDS Projects, 238 AWCs, 6 AWTCs and 1 MLTC alongwith 21 detailed reports from faculty/project staff of NIPCCD RCs and Consultants of Selected Institutions.

Regular Training Programmes
  • Orientation Programme on Micro Finance and Income Generation Issues was organised by Headquarters from 3-7 February, 2014 with the main objectives to: build capacity of Stakeholders including NGOs to promote SHG network on micro finance and income generation issues; make them aware of importance of micro finance and income generation for sustainable intervention/ strategy; acquaint the participants about the concept of sustainable development; provide a forum for sharing the experiences and best practices on the issues of micro-finance/micro credit; and deliberate and draft model viable projects for empowerment of women. Twenty-six participants attended the programme.
  • Orientation Programme for Legal cum Protection Officers of DCPU and Child Care Institutions was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 3-7 February, 2014 with the main objectives to: examine the issue of child rights and protection in the Indian context; enable the participants to develop understanding on various issues concerning children in need of care and protection and children in conflict with law; the existing Juvenile Justice System and the prevailing laws concerning children; orient on the features of ICPS, its components and the role of various stakeholders under the JJ system and ICPS and their inter-linkages; discuss the role of Probation Officers in implementation of ICPS under DCPU and CCIs; explain the specific roles of Probation Officer as laid down in JJ Act & Rules; and develop understanding on various issues concerning juveniles in conflict with law, the existing Juvenile Justice System and the prevailing legislation to address these issues. Thirty-three participants attended the programme.
  • Orientation Training for DCPOs of ICPS was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 3-7 February, 2014 with the main objectives to: examine the issue of child rights and protection in the Indian context; enable the participants to develop understanding on various issues concerning children in need of care and protection and in conflict with law, the existing Juvenile justice System and the prevailing laws concerning children; orient the features of ICPS, its components and the role of various stakeholders under the JJ system and ICPS and their inter-linkages; discuss the role of DCPOs in implementation of ICPS in the district; evolve strategy for networking convergence and coordination mechanisms under ICPS; build capacities to develop and implement child protection plan at the district level; and develop managerial competencies to carry out the responsibilities as DCPOs.   • Training Programme on Ahimsa Messenger was organised by Headquarters from 4-5 February, 2014 with the main objectives to: create awareness about basic legal procedures and provisions by involving both men and women; identify the role of ICDS functionaries as Master trainers of Ahimsa Messengers; and facilitate social/community mobilization to fight social evils and create enabling environment for women. Fifty-Three participants attended the programme.
  • Sensitization Programme for Master Trainers of ICDS on Strengthening and Restructuring of ICDS Programme was organised by Regional Centre, Indore from 4-6 February, 2014 with the main objectives to: orient the State level officials to the recent initiatives to strengthen and restructure the ICDS Programme; and acquaint them about implementation of ICDS in mission mode. Fifteen participants attended the programme.
  • Workshop for Parents on Management of Children with Scholastic Problems was organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati on 5 February, 2014 with the main objectives to: acquaint the parents about the nature and magnitude of scholastic problems of children; and sensitize them about their roles in providing a supportive environment to such children for better scholastic performances. Forty-three participants attended the workshop.
  • Sensitization Workshop on Japanese Encephalitis/Acute Encephalitis Syndrome for Master Trainers of ICDS was organised by Headquarters at Lucknow from 10-11 February, 2014 with the main objectives to: discuss the major causes, signs and symptoms, prevention and management of JE/AES; prepare action plans and micro planning procedures for combating JE/AES at various levels; and discuss roles and responsibilities of various ICDS functionaries in prevention of JE/AES. Seventy participants attended the workshop.
  • Orientation Programme for DPOs on Quality Assurance of SNP was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 10-12 February, 2014 with the main objectives to: sensitise the participants about the importance of quality assurance in the Supplementary Nutrition Programme of ICDS; enhance their knowledge and understanding on the principles and tests of quality assurance to be adopted at AWCs; and orient them on minimum safety standards to be adopted in food handling according to Food Safety and Standard Act, 2011. Thirty-five participants attended the programme.

SABLA & Indira Gandhi Matritava Sahyog Yojana (IGMSY); and appraise them of their role and responsibility in creating the awareness among the AWWs and Supervisors. Twenty-one participants attended the training.
  • Training Programme on Combating Domestic and Gender Based Violence against Women was organised by Headquarters from 10-14 February, 2014 with the main objectives to: enable the participants to acquire necessary knowledge about the domestic and gender based violence; enhance knowledge of coordinators roles, the need for inter-agency response for the implementation of the various schemes and programmes on violence against women; discuss problems, ways and means for effective implementation of women related laws/Acts; develop the skills of the participants to overcome the problems of victims of domestic and gender based violence; and understand and develop post trauma support services including counselling, livelihoods and provision for basic needs etc. Twenty-seven participants attended the programme.
  • Workshop on Development of Annual ECE Curriculum was organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati from 10-14 February, 2014 with the main objectives to: make the participants realise the need for developing the state specific ECCE curriculum; help them realise the need for developing age specific, developmentally appropriate, theme based and activity based ECCE curriculum; and enable the members to prepare state specific curriculum by following the National curriculum framework. Twenty-six participants attended the workshop.
  • Orientation Course for NIPCCD Faculty on Statistical Methods and Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) was organised by Headquarters at National Institute of Medical Statistics, New Delhi from 10-14 February, 2014 with the main objectives to: upgrade the knowledge of the participants in the application of statistical techniques in social sciences research; and enhance the skills of participants in data analysis by making use of Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS). Ten participants attended the course.
  • Vertical Training Programme on Quality Improvement in ICDS for Block Level ICDS Functionaries was organised by Regional Centre, Indore at Nashik from 10-14 February, 2014 with the main objectives to: enhance the skills of CDPOs and Supervisors to act as a master trainer for providing continuing education to AWWs at project level; provide inputs to improve knowledge and skills of all ICDS functionaries at project level for quality improvement in ICDS Services; and work jointly and formulate joint action plan at project level for quality improvement of delivery of ICDS services. Forty-two participants attended the training.
  • Job Training Course for CDPOs/ACDPOs is being organised by Regional Centre, Indore from 10 February to 11 March, 2014 with the main objectives to: orient CDPOs about ICDS Programme; orient them about situation of women and children with special reference to adolescent girls and policies and programme for women & children; apprise them of the latest developments and trends in ICDS programme; discuss job responsibilities of ICDS, Health and other functionaries and also their role in effective delivery of ICDS services; equip the participants with requisite skills to deliver ICDS services better; and develop managerial and administrative skills in participants. Thirty-five participants attended the training.
  • Sensitisation Programme on Combating Gender Based Violence for Law Enforcement Agencies was organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati from 11-13 February, 2014 with the main objectives to: orient the Police officials to the concept, trend, causes and consequences of gender based violence; make them understand about various legislations and welfare measures for women; sensitize the officials to the provisions of the 'Protection of Women from Domestic Violence' Act, 2005; and enable them their the role and responsibilities in combating gender based violence. Nineteen participants attended the programme.
  • Training of Programme Evaluation Officers/Regional Field Officers of Planning Commission on New WHO Child Growth Standards, New MIS and Use of MCP Card was organised by Headquarters from 15-16 February, 2014 with the main objectives to: check the availability of weighting scales/ functioning of weighing scales; check the Status of Registers-whether duly filled in or not and the frequency in which they have been filled in; weigh of all the Anganwadi children in presence of the REO/SRO/EO and plotting it in the growth chart, to be recorded every ten for major discrepancies; and check the status of moderate and severely malnourished children to as certain status of distribution/ maintenance of the Mother Child Card. Twenty-five participants attended the programme.
  • Review Workshop on Development of Annual ECE Curriculum was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 17-18 February, 2014 with the main objectives to: orient to the National Policy on ECE; review the existing ECE practices in states of Karnataka, Kerala and Goa; develop a month's curriculum on ECE; and discuss the plan of Action for ECE Annual Curriculum. Thirty-nine participants attended the workshop.
  • Sensitization Programme for CDPOs on Prevention of Malnutrition in Women & Children was organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati from 17-19 February 2014 with the main objectives to: enhance the understanding of the CDPOs with regard to current situation of nutrition in the country; and apprise them about the recent updates and development in the field of nutrition and to equip them with information and skills to develop plan of action to address malnutrition in the districts. Twenty-nine participants attended the programme.
  • Training on Nutritional and Health Care Needs of Tribal Women for Government Officials and Voluntary Organizations was organised by Regional Centre, Indore from 17-20 February, 2014 with the main objectives to: explore issues regarding tribal women's nutrition and health status in the western region of the country; impart knowledge on the indicators of adequate women's nutrition; educate the participants on the specific interventions to be adopted to counter malnutrition among tribal women; develop action plan for prevention and management of micronutrient malnutrition among tribal women; and develop strategy to strengthen tribal health and nutrition care system. Twenty-six participants attended the training.
  • Refresher Course for CDPOs/ACDPOs was organised by Headquarters from 17-21 February 2014 with the main objectives to: review the implementation of ICDS programme in the State with regard to its various aspects: provide a forum for sharing of experiences in implementing ICDS programme; apprise CDPOs/ ACDPOs about the recent developments and trends in ICDS programme; update their knowledge in the areas of early childhood care and development including nutrition and health care; and sharpen their communication, counselling and managerial. Thirteen participants attended the course.
  • Two Orientation Training Programmes for Social Workers of District Child Protection Unit under ICPS were organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 17-21 February, 2014 concurrently. The main objective of these programmes were to: examine the issue of child rights and protection in the Indian context; enable the participants to develop understanding on various issues concerning children in need of care and protection and in conflict with law, the existing Juvenile Justice System and the prevailing laws concerning children; orient the features of ICPS, its components and the role of various stakeholders under the JJ system and ICPS and their inter linkages; discuss the role of Social Workers in implementation of ICPS in the district; evolve strategy for networking, convergence and coordination mechanisms under ICPS; and to develop competencies to carry out the responsibilities as Social Workers. In all forty-five participants attended these programmes.
  • Orientation Training Programme for Superintendents of Child Care Institutions was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 18-20 February, 2014 with the main objectives to: orient the importance of child rights and protection in the Indian context; enable the participants to develop understanding on various issues concerning children, the existing Juvenile justice System and the prevailing laws concerning children; orient the features of ICPS, the linkages and importance of networking and partnership; discuss their role in implementation of ICPS; understand the importance of Minimum Standards of Care in Institutions; and build managerial competencies among the participants for managing CCIs. Thirty participants attended the programme.
  • Training on Counselling for the Counsellors of Family Counselling Centres was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 18-20 February, 2014 with the main objectives to: acquaint the trainees with essential elements of counselling; equip them with techniques of counselling; and to introduce to them alternative approaches to counselling.   • Two Trainings of DPOs/District Level Officials on New WHO Growth Standards, New MIS and use of MCP Card were organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 18-20 February, 2014and Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 24-26 February, 2014 respectively. The main objectives of these trainings were to: orient the DPOs/District Level Officials to new WHO Child Growth Standards and new MIS in ICDS; develop necessary skills among the participants for using the New WHO Growth Chart, New MIS System and use of MCP Card; and enable participants to impart meaningful trainings to the Supervisors and AWWs in plotting and using the new Growth Chart, filling up of new MIS formats and MCP Cards. In all twenty-seven participants attended the training.
  • Study Tour Programme of Emerging Women Leaders from El-Salvador on Micro Finance and Micro Enterprise is being organised by Headquarters from 19 February ? 14 March, 2014. The main purpose of the Study Tour is to: get an exposure on various issues related to women welfare and development in India including micro - finance and micro - enterprise development in India. Ten women delegates from El Salvador are participating in study tour programme.
  • Orientation Workshop for Chairperson/ Members of Child Welfare Committees was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 24-25 February, 2014 with the main objectives to: develop understanding among the participants about the situation of children in India and challenges faced by children for their holistic development; sensitize and orient participants to the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act 2000, its Amendment Act 2006 and ICPS; orient the participants about the functioning, roles and responsibilities of Child Welfare Committees; understand and facilitate mechanisms for speedy disposal of cases; discuss the efficacy of Institutional & Non-Institutional Services under the Act; develop understanding of the concept of rehabilitation and social reintegration and to enable effective assessment of options in the best interest of children; and understand the role of different stakeholders as provided in the Act. Thirty-one participants attended the workshop.
  • Training Programme on Prevention of Trafficking for NGOs Implementing Ujjawala Scheme was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 24-26 February, 2014 with the main objectives to: facilitate conceptual clarity on the issues of trafficking; familiarize participants with the socio legal frame work of trafficking; evolve attitudes values, and beliefs that facilitate working with victims of trafficking; and review the status of implementation of Ujjawala. Thirty-one participants attended the programme.
  • Orientation Course for Statistical Assistants on MIS in ICDS was organised by Headquarters from 24-26 February, 2014 with the main objectives to: apprise the participants about the concept and significance of Management Information System in ICDS; orient the participants about the new Management Information System (MIS) in ICDS scheme; and guide the participants about utilization of MPR data in ICDS. Twenty-eight participants attended the course.
  • Workshop on Prevention of Child Marriages for the Functionaries of Voluntary Organisations and Government Officials was organised by Headquarters from 24-26 February, 2014 at Indore with the main objectives to: deliberate the situation and consequences of child marriage with reference to the girl child. Discuss the existing constitutional and legal measures against child marriage and challenges on their implementation; understand the role of family and community in addressing the issue of child marriage; and Explore good practices involving various stakeholders for prevention of child marriage. Twenty participants attended the workshop.
  • Training on Fund Raising Techniques and Resource Management for Voluntary Organizations was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 24-28 February, 2014 with the main objectives to: acquaint the representatives of voluntary organisations on fund raising techniques; impart knowledge on need for developing internal controls and accounting systems for effective utilization of funds and resources; orient them about ways and means of resource mobilization from various sources and methods of effective management; and discuss income tax rules and other financial procedures. Twenty participants attended the training.
  • Sensitization Workshop for Police Officials on Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act (PWDVA), 2005 is being organised by Regional Centre, Indore from 27 February to 1 March, 2014 with the main objectives to: orient and sensitize the participants on the provisions of the 'Protection of Women from Domestic Violence' Act, 2005 (PWDVA); enable the participants aware about the procedures for enlisting as Service Providers; and discuss the role and responsibilities of the Protection Officers, service providers and other organizations in combating Domestic Violence in their areas.   • Celebration of International Women's Day 2014 and Presentation of Stree Shakti Puraskar, 2013 was organised by MWCD on 8 March, 2014 at Rashtrapati Bhawan. The function was presided over by Shri Pranab Mukherjee, Hon'ble President of India and also presented the Stree Shakti Puraskar-2013. Smt. Krishna Tirath, Hon'ble MOS (I/c), WCD was also present in the function. The Institute provided logistic support to MWCD for the celebration of this function.

  • Orientation Training on Juvenile Justice Act for Delhi Police Personnel was organised by Headquarters from 3-5 March, 2014 with the main objectives to: orient the participants to develop an understanding of the Juvenile Justice System; and facilitate them to identify and analyze the problems of children in need of care and protection and children in conflict with law and prepare them to effectively deal with the children in a child-friendly way. Thirty participants attended the training.
  • Orientation Programme for Superintendents of Child Care Institutions & Project Coordinators/Counsellors of Open Shelters was organised by Headquarters from 3-5 March, 2014 with the main objectives to: examine the issue of child rights and protection in the Indian context; enable the participants to develop understanding on various issues concerning children, the existing Juvenile justice System and the prevailing laws concerning children; orient the features of ICPS, its components and the role of various stakeholders under the JJ system and ICPS and their inter linkages; ensure the compliance of Minimum Standards of Care in Institutions; and build managerial competencies among those managing CCIs. Thirty-two participants attended the programme.
  • Training on Breast Feeding, Nutrition, New WHO Growth Chart, New MIS & use of MCP Card for ICDS Supervisors was organised by Headquarters at Rudrapur, Uttarakhand from 3-5 March, 2014 with the main objectives to: orient the newly appointed supervisors regarding importance of breast feeding, new WHO Growth Chart revised MIS and use of MCP Card. Seventy-three participants attended the training.
  • Sensitisation Programme for Master Trainers of ICDS on Strengthening and Restructuring of ICDS Programme was organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati on 3-5 March, 2014 with the main objectives to: develop understanding of the participating State Level officials to the recent initiatives of Govt. to strengthen and restructure the ICDS programme; acquaint them with the mechanism evolved for implementation of ICDS in Mission mode; and enable these officials to contribute effectively in the training of fellow functionaries of their districts/ blocks on the subject. Fifteen participants attended the programme.
  • Orientation Programme for District Child Protection Officers of District Child Protection Units under ICPS was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 3-7 March, 2014 with the main objectives to: examine the issues of Child Rights and Protection in the Indian context; enable the participants to develop understanding on various issues concerning Children in need of care and protection and in conflict with law, the existing Juvenile Justice System and the prevailing laws concerning children; orient the features of ICPS, its components and the role of various stakeholders under the JJ System and ICPS and their inter ?linkages; discuss the role of CDPOs in implementation of ICPS in the district; evolve strategy for networking convergence and coordination mechanisms under ICPS; build capacity to develop and implement Child Protection Plan at the district level; and develop managerial competencies to carry out the responsibilities as DCPOs.   • Orientation Training on Child Rights and Child Protection for Superintendents of Homes/Probation/Welfare Officers/VOs was organised by Regional Centre, Indore from 3-7 March, 2014 with the main objectives to: orient the participants about the conceptual framework of Child Rights and Protection; enable them to understand service delivery mechanisms and legal provisions; and create an understanding of the good child protection practices including various legislations, policies and programmes etc. Twenty-five participants attended the programme.
  • Sensitization Programme for ICDS Functionaries on ICT Information, Communication Technology and its use in ICDS was organised by Headquarters from 4-6 March, 2014 with the main objectives to: orient the participants about the new initiatives and recent updates in ICT in ICDS; share and provide them the knowledge of good practices, existing knowledge, mechanisms and experiences in the field of ICT in ICDS; provide them the appropriate and adequate knowledge on Nutrition Resource Platform, its three domains, its importance and its usage; and equip them with the information and skills to use ICT in their counselling and other training and capacity building programmes. Thirty-nine participants attended the programme.
  • Sensitisation Programme for School Principals of Greater Guwahati on Mental Health of Children was organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati on 6-7 March, 2014 with the main objectives to: help the school principals to understand the concept of mental health and their implications on children; familiarize the principals with the various mental health issues children face; and acquaint them with various intervention strategies to be adopted for managing mental health of children. Thirty-nine participants attended the programme.
  • Training Programme on Sexual Harassment of Women in Workplace Act, 2013 was organised by Headquarters from 10-12 March, 2014 with the main objectives to: enable the participants to acquire necessary knowledge about Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace Act, 2013 and its rules; and understand the Complains mechanism in the Act & Rules. Thirty-four participants attended the programme.
  • Training Programme on Gender Sensitization for Principals/ Teachers of Minority Institutions of Madhya Pradesh was organised by Regional Centre, Indore from 10-12 March, 2014 with the main objectives to: enable the participants to develop a clear perspective of gender issues; enrich and strengthen their sensitivity and understanding about women's development and empowerment; enhance their knowledge about the importance of education of women for development of minority community; and provide information on policies and programmes for women's empowerment. Seventeen participants attended the programme.
  • Refresher Course for CDPOs/ACDPOs was organised by Headquarters from 10-14 March, 2014 with the main objectives to: review the implementation of ICDS programme in the State with regard to its various aspects: provide a forum for sharing of experiences in implementing ICDS programme; apprise CDPOs/ACDPOs about the recent developments and trends in ICDS programme; update their knowledge in the areas of early childhood care and development including nutrition and health care; and sharpen their communication, counseling and managerial. Thirteen participants attended the course.

  • Orientation Training Programme for Superintendents of Child Care Institutions on Nutrition and Health Care of Children was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 11-13 March, 2014 with the main objectives to: orient the participants about the nutritional issues concerning to children; enhance the understanding of Superintendents of nutrition, malnutrition, micronutrient deficiencies and childhood illnesses etc; and equip the participants for formulating strategies to curb malnutrition among children in Child Care Institutions. Nineteen participants attended the training.
  • Orientation Training on Understanding Mental Health Problems of Children for Functionaries of Child Care Institutions/Open Shelters was organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati on 11-13 March, 2014 with the main objectives to: help the functionaries of child care institutions to understand the concept of mental health and their implications on children; orient them to learning, behavioural and emotional problems of children and other mental health issues children face; and acquaint them with various intervention strategies to be adopted for managing mental health problems of children. Twenty-four participants attended the programme.
  • Workshop for Mothers of Child Care Centre on Preparation of Soft Toys was organised by Headquarters on 12 March, 2014 with the main objectives to: enhance the knowledge of mother in child development of the child; and impart education to mothers about growth monitoring and promotion, childhood illness, toy-making and preparation of teaching aids. Nineteen participants attended the workshop.
  • Two Training Programmes for Protection Officers, Police Personnel Officials and Service Provider on Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act (PWDVA), 2005 were organised by Regional Centre, Indore from 12-14 March, 2014 and 25-27 March, 2014 respectively. The main objectives of these programmes were to: sensitize the participants on the provisions of the 'Protection of Women from Domestic Violence' Act, 2005; aware the participants about the procedures for enlisting as Service Providers; and discuss on the roles and responsibilities of the Protection Officers, Service providers and other organizations in combating Domestic Violence. In all Thirty-six participants attended these programmes.
  • Training of Trainers on JJ Act and ICPS was organised by Headquarters from 13-14 March, 2014 with the main objectives to: sensitize participants to the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act 2000 and its Amendment Act 2006; orient them about roles and responsibilities of different personnel involved in implementation of the Act/ICPS; and discuss good practices for strengthening Implementation of the JJ Act and ICPS. Twenty-one participants attended the training.
  • Training Programme on Combating Trafficking of Women and Children was organised by Headquarters from 19-21 March, 2014 with the main objectives to: strategies for prevention of Trafficking of Women and Children; discuss various issues based on stress/trauma management of Victims of Trafficking especially women and children; rescue operation to prevent trafficking in women by Govt. of India; and Legal safeguards to prevent trafficking in women and children those are involve in those process and give post rescue care. Twelve participants attended the training.
  • Sensitisation Programme for Master Trainers of ICDS on Strengthening and Restructuring of ICDS Programme was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 19-21 March, 2014 with the main objectives to: provide a common platform for exchange of ideas on various aspects of ICDS; orient the participants about various human resource, financial, infrastructural and institutional arrangements/provisions made under restructured ICDS; and information dissemination of various programmatic, institutional, managerial, training and capacity building reforms and share implementation mechanism of newly inducted initiatives like Sneha Shivirs, AWC cum Creche etc. Twenty-five participants attended the programme.
  • Parental Education Workshop on "Parental Support needed by Children during the stages of early and late Childhood" was organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati at Modern Academy Sishu Vikas Kendra, Manik Nagar, Guwahati on 22 March, 2014 with the main objectives to: develop an understanding about the needs of children at early and late childhood; and acquaint the parents about appropriate parenting skills during the stages of early and late childhood. Fifty-two participants attended the workshop.
  • Training Programme on Formation of Clusters and Federations was organised by Headquarters from 24-28 March, 2014 with the main objectives to: orient the participants to the concept and need of SHGs, clusters and federations; orient them to the techniques and steps in formation of cluster and federation; and acquaint them about the rules and regulations in forming federations and good practices relating to successful SHGs as clusters and federations. Twenty-two participants attended the training.
  • Sensitization Programme on Family Based Interventions for Children with Disabilities and Developmental was organised by Headquarters from 24-28 March, 2014 with the main objectives to: enable the participants to understand the challenges of family with children having disability or developmental disorders; orient the participants to effective assessment and counselling procedures to enable families to gain constructive perspective about the child and the disorder or disability; critically apprise them with the strategies to empower families to identify and nurture strengths of the child; and orient the families to the supportive interventions that strengthen resilience of the family unit through family support activities. Twenty participants attended the programme.
  • Training Programme on Legal Rights and Entitlements for Women is being organised by Headquarters from 31 March ? 4 April, 2014 with the main objectives to: sensitize the participants about women empowerment and women's rights and their effective implementation; make them aware of Constitutional provisions, Legislations and Acts relating to women; familiarize them about existing support services for women; and promote networking among NGOs and Institutions providing support services to women for their rights. Twenty-two participants attended the programme.

  • Orientation Trainings on Micro-finance and Income Generation Issues for NGOs associated with RMK is being organised by Headquarters from 31 March ? 4 April, 2014 with the main objectives to: orient the NGO personnel to the objectives, beneficiaries, coverage and the scope of RMK scheme for empowerment of women; acquaint them to the concept of micro finance and its relevance to SHG movement; help them to understand the role of NGOs as Microfinance Organizations for supporting and guiding the SHGs for undertaking viable income generation activities; and develop skills on availing Micro-Credit facilities from RMK in effective financial management and reporting.   • Workshop on Training Needs Assessment was organised by Headquarters on 2 April, 2014 with the main objectives to: take feedback from the ICDS functionaries of trainings held at NIPCCD in the last academic year; and assess the training needs of ICDS functionaries for the coming academic year 2014-15. Sixty participants attended the workshop.
  • Job Training Course for CDPOs/ACDPOs was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 2 April - 3 May, 2014 with the main objectives to: orient the CDPOs/ACDPOs to various components of ICDS scheme; enable them to understand their own role, as well as the roles and responsibilities of other functionaries of the scheme; equip them with adequate knowledge and skills for providing the job training to peripheral workers of the scheme; and facilitate them to develop skill necessary for administration and management on the ICDS scheme. Twenty-one participants attended the training.
  • Orientation Training on Project Formulation for STEP was organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati from 7-11 April, 2014 with the main objectives to: develop clear understanding amongst the participants about STEP project; enable them to identify the areas keeping in mind the viability, effectiveness based on the local needs; help them to understand the steps in formulating the proposal and preparing effective project proposals; and analyze pitfalls in designing project proposals under STEP. Thirty-five participants attended the training.
  • Sensitisation Programme on Reproductive Health and HIV/AIDS for Functionaries of Voluntary Organisations was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 9-11 April, 2014 with the main objectives to: enable the participants to understand Reproductive Health; understand basics of HIV/AIDS; discuss the existing strategies on reproductive health and HIV/AIDS; develop skills for effective communication; and facilitate them to develop holistic programmes on promoting safe reproductive health and preventing HIV/AIDS. Forty-six participants attended the programme.
  • Orientation Course on Social and Behaviour Change Communication for Instructors of AWTCs/MLTCs was organised by Headquarters from 9-11 April, 2014 with the main objectives to: enhance the knowledge on the principles of Social and Behaviour Change Communication and setting of communication objectives for ICDS; enhance understanding related to strategic shifts in SBCC and the basic steps in conducting a perceptions study; explain and apply the SBCC planning process for developing a strategic communication; and enhance understanding of monitoring and evaluation process to assess effectiveness of communication and application of the same to ICDS. Twenty-six participants attended the course.
  • Training of ICDS Functionaries on SABLA, IGMSY and Mother and Child Protection Card was organised by Headquarters from 15-17 April, 2014 with the main objectives to: orient the participants about Rajiv Gandhi Scheme for Empowerment of Adolescent Girls-SABLA, IGMSY and Use of MCP Card to tackle the intergenerational cycle of malnutrition effectively; apprise them of their role and responsibility in creating the awareness among the ICDS functionaries as trainers; enhance the capabilities of participants in counseling through MCP Card; and strengthen the monitoring and supervision aspect of SABLA & IGMSY. Twenty-nine participants attended the training.
  • Orientation Training Programme on Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Amendment Act 2006 for Magistrates/Members of JJBs was organised by Regional Centre, Indore from 15-17 April, 2014 with the main objectives to: orient the Participants on Implementation of JJ Act in the Child Care Institutions; orient them towards various roles and responsibilities in implementation of the Juvenile Justice Act; create awareness on the role of voluntary agencies and community as provided in the Act; and create an understanding of the concept of rehabilitation and social reintegration of Children. Twenty participants attended the training.
  • Training of Master Trainers on Ahimsa Messenger was organised by Headquarters from 16-17 April, 2014 with the main objectives to: create awareness about basic legal procedures and provisions by involving both men and women; identify the role of ICDS functionaries and protection officers as Master Trainers of Ahimsa Messengers; and facilitate social/community mobilization to fight social evils and create enabling environment for women. Thirty-seven participants attended the training.
  • Orientation Training for field functionaries under ICPS on Child Rights, Child Protection & Services for Children was organised by Headquarters from 16-17 April, 2014 with the main objectives to: examine the issue of child rights and protection in the Indian context; enable the participants to develop understanding on various issues concerning children, the existing Juvenile justice System and the prevailing laws concerning children; orient them about ICPS, its components and the role of various stakeholders under the JJ system & ICPS and their inter linkages; facilitate them to identify and analyze the problems of children in need of care and protection and children in conflict with law; and prepare them to effectively deal with the children in a child-friendly way.   • Job Training Course for ICDS Supervisors was organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati from 16 April - 17 May, 2014 with the main objectives to: train and orient the Supervisors to various components of the scheme of the ICDS; enable them to understand their roles and responsibilities as well as those of other functionaries of the scheme; and enhance their skills necessary for supervision of programme implementation and general administration. Thirty-five participants attended the training.
  • Orientation on Schemes / Programmes of Ministry of Women & Child Development, Govt. of India for the Functionaries of Voluntary Organizations was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 21-25 April, 2014 with the main objectives to: orient participants about programmes/schemes related to women and children and enable them about procedures/guidelines for getting financial assistance from Government. Forty-eight participants attended the programme.
  • Vertical Training Programme for ICDS Functionaries on Care, Nutrition, Health Education and Counselling Skills was organised by Headquarters from 21-25 April, 2014 with the main objectives to: develop an understanding among the participants about the situation of children and women in India; understand and discuss the role of ICDS functionaries as nutrition educator/counselor; provide them the appropriate and adequate counseling skills for nutrition education; and familiarize them with the different critical contact points for nutrition education. Thirty-nine participants attended the training.
  • Workshop on Protection of Children from Sexual Offences(POCSO) Act, 2012 and Law to Streamline the Procedure in Offences against Children for District Judges was organised by Headquarters at Bhowali, Nainital from 22-23 April, 2014 with the main objectives to: sensitize the participants about the sexual offences being committed against children and consequent trauma faced by them; apprise the Judicial and Police officers about the salient features of the 'Protection of Children from Sexual offences' (POCSO) Act, 2012; and orient the participants about their roles and responsibilities in protection rights of children while dealing with them under various circumstances under the Act. Twelve participants attended the workshop.
  • Orientation Workshop for the Chairpersons and Members of the CWCs was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 22-23 April, 2014 with the main objectives to: develop understanding among the participants on the situation of children in India and challenges faced by children for their holistic development; sensitize and orient participants to the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act 2000 and its Amendment Act 2006; orient the participants about the functioning of CWCs and the role and responsibilities of Chairperson and Members of CWCs; create an understanding of the concept of rehabilitation and social reintegration and to enable effective assessment of options; discuss relevance of non-Institutional Services under the Act to facilitate effective rehabilitation & social reintegration of children including difficulties faced by them; learn the role of different stakeholders as provided in the Act ; and understand the mechanisms for speedy disposal of cases. Forty-three participants attended the workshop.
  • Vertical Training Programme of Block Level ICDS Functionaries of Meghalaya for Quality Improvement in ICDS Programme was organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati from 22-26 April, 2014 with the main objectives to: enhance the skills of CDPOs and supervisors to act as a master trainer for providing continuing education to AWWs at project level; provide inputs to the functionaries to improve knowledge and skills of all ICDS functionaries at project level for quality improvement in ICDS services; and enable the functionaries to work jointly and formulate action plan at project level for quality improvement in delivery of services. Twenty-eight participants attended the training.
  • Sensitization Workshop for Police Officials on Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act (PWDVA), 2005 was organised by Regional Centre, Indore from 25-27 April, 2014 with the main objectives to: sensitize the participants on the provisions of the 'Protection of Women from Domestic Violence' Act, 2005; enable the participants about the procedures for enlisting as Service Providers; and discuss on roles and responsibilities of the Protection Officers, Service providers and other organizations in combating Domestic Violence. Twenty-four participants attended the workshop.
  • Sensitization Programme on Prevention of Trafficking of Women and children for Voluntary Organizations was organised by Regional Centre, Indore from 28-30 April, 2014 with the main objectives to: to analyze different forms of trafficking and prostitution of women and children in western region; create awareness about the problem and its magnitude; review the plans and programmes of the Govt. of India and State Governments for prevention and control of trafficking and commercial exploitation of women and children; and evolve action plan/role of NGOs in prevention, rescue and rehabilitation of the trafficking/trafficked. Forty participants attended the programme.
  • Skill Training on New MIS & use of MCP Card for Instructors of AWTCs & MLTCs was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 28-30 April, 2014 with the main objectives to: orient the participants to the concept of New MIS and Use of MCP card; familiarize the participants with issues relating to MIS related procedures, activities; health and nutrition issues linked to MCP card its usage and implementation; and enable participants to impart meaningful trainings to the Supervisors and AWWs on new MIS and MCP Card. Eighteen participants attended the programme.
  • Orientation Programme on Child Rights and Protection for the Functionaries of Voluntary Organisations is being organised by Headquarters from 28 April ? 2 May, 2014 with the main objectives to: orient the participants about the conceptual framework and context of Child Rights and Protection; orient the participants on Integrated Child Protection Scheme (ICPS); and enable them to understand service delivery mechanisms, as well as Child Protection initiatives in terms of legislations, policies and programmes etc. Fifteen participants attended the programme.

  • States Consultation on draft rules framed under National Food Security Act (NFSA) pertaining to ICDS and Activity Mapping on Involvement of PRIs in ICDS was organised by MWCD on 26 May, 2014 at New Delhi. The Institute provided technical and logistic support for the consultation.
  • Fourth Meeting of Institutional Review Board of the Institute was held on 17 May, 2014 under the Chairpersonship of Dr. J.K. Das, Director, NIHFW. The Board approved new research proposals of the Institute to be conducted in the year 2014-15.
  • Central Monitoring Unit during the month of May, 2014 has received data of 51 ICDS Projects, 274 AWCs and 9 AWTCs alongwith 20 detailed reports from faculty/project staff of NIPCCD, RCs and Consultants of Selected Institutions.
Regular Training Programmes

  • Sensitization Programme on Implementation of 'Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005' was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 5-7 May, 2014 with the main objectives to: sensitize the participants on locus and manifestation of gender violence; discuss policies and legislative measures to curb atrocities against women specially on domestic violence; analyze the problem and work out strategies for addressing the problem of domestic violence of women; and discuss existing mechanisms/ support services and offer suggestions towards strengthening them. Twenty-four participants attended the programme.
  • Orientation Course on Maternal and Child Health and Nutrition was organised by Headquarters from 5-9 May, 2014 with the main objectives to: orient the participants on issues relating to maternal and child health and nutrition; and equip them with necessary skills for developing preventive strategies for dealing with issues relating to maternal and child health and nutrition. Fourteen participants attended the course.
  • Refresher Course for CDPOs/ACDPOs was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 5-9 May, 2014 with the main objectives to: assess declining child sex ratio: causes and consequences; update legislations concerning Women and Children; apprise the participants about the recent developments and trends in ICDS programmes; and update their knowledge in the areas of early childhood care and development including nutrition and healthcare. Twenty participants attended the courses.
  • Training on Project Planning and Resource Management was organised by Regional Centre, Indore from 5-9 May, 2014 with the main objectives to: enhance the knowledge and understanding of the representatives of NGOs on project planning; help them to understand the techniques for mobilizing and managing community resources; develop skills in cost estimation and working out mechanisms for monitoring and sustainability of a project; and enable them to manage their resources and funds for effective execution of a project. Eight participants attended the training.

  • Training on Strengthening SHGs for Representatives of Voluntary Organisations was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 5-9 May, 2014 with the main objectives to: enable participants to understand the concept, importance, dynamics and objectives of SHG for women; develop their skill for formation, development and strengthening of SHGs; develop their skill to train members of SHGs for its management; and help them to understand the importance and benefit of networking of SHGs and role of members of SHGs as change agents. Thirty-six participants attended the training.
  • Orientation Training on Leadership Development for Women was organised by Headquarters from 5-9 May, 2014 with the main objectives to: orient the participants about the sociology of leadership and its relevance for women; orient them on the scope and existing mechanisms that foster leadership development among women; understand the role of change agents in developing skills and capacities of women for taking up leadership roles; and promote networking and partnership among organisations working for empowerment of women. Seventeen participants attended the training.
  • Job Training Course for CDPOs/ACDPOs is being organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati from 5 May-4 June, 2014 with the main objectives to: orient the CDPOs/ACDPOs about ICDS programme, status of women and children in the country and policies and programmes for their welfare and development; apprise them about the latest development/trends in ICDS programme; discuss the job responsibilities of ICDS functionaries vis-a-vis other functionaries and their role in effective delivery of services; equip them with the requisite skills to deliver services under ICDS programme; and develop the managerial and administrative skills of CDPOs/ACDPOs. Twenty-two participants attended the training.
  • Workshop on Japanese Encephalitis/Acute Encephalitis Syndrome for ICDS Functionaries was organised by Headquarters at Regional Centre, Guwahati from 12-13 May, 2014 with the main objectives to: discuss the major causes, signs and symptoms, prevention and management of JE/AES; prepare action plans and micro planning procedures for combating JE/AES at various levels; and discuss roles and responsibilities of various ICDS functionaries in prevention of JE/AES. Forty participants attended the workshop.
  • Orientation Workshop on POCSO Act, 2012 for Child Care Institutions (CCIs) was organised by Headquarters from 12-13 May, 2014 with the main objectives to: sensitize the participants about the sexual offences being committed against children and consequent thereof; apprise them about the salient features of the 'Protection of Children from Sexual Offences' (POCSO) Act, 2012; develop an understanding of the role of CCIs in implementation of the Act; and orient them about different support and rehabilitation services available for victims sexual offences under POCSO Act & Rules, 2012. Thirty participants attended the workshop.

  • Training on Ensuring Food Safety and Food Safety Standards in Supplementary Nutrition in ICDS was organised by Headquarters from 15-17 May, 2014 with the main objectives to: enable the participants to develop an understanding of safe food handling practices highlighting its importance in health and nutrition well being; orient them to food safety measures for SNP of ICDS; get an insight into food adulteration and the laws regulating the food safety; and discuss the role of ICDS functionaries in ensuring food safety at AWC. Twenty-one participants attended the training.
  • Orientation Training for Master Trainers of ICDS on APIP was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 15-17 May, 2014 with the main objectives to: identification of good practices and innovations that have been implemented within ICDS in different States and with different partners; documentation of these potential best practices for their replication and Scaling up in different locations; suggest ways and systems for replication of these good practices at a larger level especially in APIPs of States/UTs for the year 2014-15; and orient the States in preparation of APIPs for the year 2014-15. Twenty-three participants attended the training.
  • Workshop on POCSO Act and Rules, 2012 for Medical Professionals was organised by Headquarters on 18 May, 2014 with the main objectives to: enhance the knowledge of the medical professionals about salient features of POCSO Act, 2012; develop an understanding of their role in implementation of the Act; and discuss with them about medical and forensic services in order to investigate sexual offences. Thirty-two participants attended the workshop.
  • Vertical Training Course on IYCF for ICDS Functionaries was organised by Headquarters from 19-21 May, 2014 with the main objectives to: enhance the technical knowledge on IYCF; build the counseling skills on exclusive breastfeeding and complementary feeding; and practice IYCF counselling. Sixty participants attended the training.
  • Skill Training on ECCE for DPOs/CDPOs was organised by Headquarters from 19-23 May, 2014 with the main objectives to: discuss the challenges in ECCE in the context of ECE policy; and review the skills needed in implementation of ECCE in the light of restructured ICDS, build the capacity of DPOs and CDPOs to guide the grass root level functionaries on effective implementation ECCE component and their roles in Monitoring. Twenty-two participants attended the training.
  • Training Programme on Mobilization and Management of Community Resources for Voluntary Organizations was organised by Regional Centre, Indore from 19-23 May, 2014 with the main objectives to: orient the participants on community resource management in development programme; familiarize them with methods and techniques of participation; enhance their capacity in preparation of project proposal; and enhance their skills for using PRA/ PLA techniques in community resource management. Thirty participants attended the training.

  • Orientation Training on Schemes/Programmes of Ministry of Women and Child Development for Functionaries of Voluntary Organizations was organised by Regional Centre, Indore from 21-23 May, 2014 with the main objectives to: orient participants about programmes/schemes related to women and children; and enable the participants about procedures/guidelines for getting financial assistance from Government. Seventeen participants attended the training.
  • Sensitization Programme on Holistic Development of Adolescent Girls and Family Life Education for Functionaries of Voluntary Organizations was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 21-23 May, 2014 with the main objectives to: enable the participants to develop an understanding of the issues relating to adolescent health and family life education; discuss the existing strategies on adolescent health and development; enable the participants to develop skills for effective communication; and facilitate the participants to develop holistic programmes/ project proposals for adolescent development.   • Skill Training Programme on Assessment of Child Learning Outcomes for ICDS Functionaries was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 26-28 May, 2014 with the main objectives to apprise the ICDS functionaries to the concept of child learning outcomes; make them understand the importance of adequate child learning outcome for later learning and development; help them to visualize the link between the quality of ECE programme and child learning outcome; and develop the skill of ICDS functionaries for assessing children's learning.   • Workshop on Development of Entrepreneurial Skills and Promotion of Micro Enterprise for Women was organised by Headquarters from 26-28 May, 2014 with the main objectives to: provide a forum for sharing the experiences and good practices on the issues of micro enterprise for Women, and discuss the issues related with entrepreneurial skills and promotion of micro enterprise with special reference to women; discuss challenges in generating new business ideas, marketing, standardization, design and issues faced by the NGOs to organize communities and groups; and develop prototype projects based on current lender policies and with emphasis on sustainability and viability..   • Workshop on Mobilisation and Management of Community Resource for Voluntary Organisations was organised by Headquarters at Lucknow from 26-30 May, 2014 with the main objectives to: enhance the knowledge and understanding of the participants to the techniques for mobilising and managing community resources; and reduce their dependency on donor agencies by developing necessary skills and awareness to adopt the techniques as a sustainable alternative for programme implementation.   • Workshop on Research and Documentation Techniques in Social Development Projects for Representatives of Government and Voluntary Organisations was organised by Headquarters at Bengaluru from 26-30 May, 2014 with the main objectives to: sensitize the participants to the significance of research and documentation in conceiving and implementing social development projects; orient them about various research and documentation techniques which could be adopted by the participants in designing/scrutinizing/reviewing social development projects; and enhance their skills in applying these techniques in social development projects.   • Training Programme on Economic Empowerment of Women for Chief Functionaries of Voluntary organization of Western Region was organised by Regional Centre, Indore from 26-30 May, 2014 with the main objectives to: orient participants about latest policies and programmes on Women Empowerment; develop skills in organizing and sustaining Women's Groups; and enhance capabilities of participants on convergence of services of women empowerment. Twenty-seven Participants attended the training.
  • Orientation Training Programme for Representatives of VOs on Project Formulation for STEP Scheme was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 26-30 May, 2014 with the main objectives to: orient the participants about the present situation of women in the country with special focus on employment scenario; imparting knowledge to them about the overall concept of STEP Scheme; and capacity building on planning and preparing of project proposals for the STEP scheme.   • Orientation Course for CDPOs on Prevention of Malnutrition & Mortality among Women & Children of High-Burden Districts was organised by Headquarters from 2-6 June, 2014 with the main objectives to: enhance the understanding of the CDPOs with regard to current situation of nutrition in the states; apprise them about the recent updates and development in the field of nutrition; and equip them to draw up plans for identification and intervention programme for areas with higher incidences of malnutrition and mortality.   • Sensitization Programme on Prevention of Sexual Harassment at Work Place was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 4-5 June, 2014 with the main objectives to: build perspective on nuances of women friendly work environment; discuss the Sexual Harassment Act; help the participants understand the modalities, functions, mechanisms and procedures of Sexual Harassment Committee; and discuss strategies for prevention of sexual harassment at work place. Thirty-two participants attended the programme.
  • Regional Workshop on Gender Budgeting was organised by Headquarters at Regional Centre, Lucknow from 4-6 June, 2014 with the main objectives to: develop clear perspective about basic concepts of gender and gender budgeting; highlight the importance and need of gender budgeting process for achieving gender mainstreaming; enable participants to analysis and evaluate budget from gender perspective to overcome gender related obstacles; and formulate strategies for institutionalizing gender budgeting.   • Orientation Training Programme for ICDS Functionaries on SABLA, IGMSY Schemes was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 4-6 June, 2014 with the main objectives to: orient the ICDS Functionaries about the Rajiv Gandhi Scheme for Empowerment of Adolescent Girls - SABLA & Indira Gandhi Matritava Sahyog Yojana (IGMSY) of MWCD, GOI; apprise them of their role and responsibility in creating awareness among the AWWs and Supervisors; and impart skills in assessment, interpretation of growth curves and counseling of mothers using MCP Card effectively for promotion of growth and development of child.   • Sensitization Programme for Police Officials on Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act (PWDVA), 2005 was organised by Regional Centre, Indore from 11-13 June 2014 with the main objectives to: sensitize the participants on the provisions of the 'Protection of Women from Domestic Violence' Act, 2005; aware participants about the procedures for enlisting as Service Providers; and discuss on the roles and responsibilities of the Protection Officers, Service providers and other organizations in combating Domestic Violence. Nineteen participants attended the programme.
  • Two Trainings of Trainers on Implementation of Revised ECE Curriculum for ICDS Functionaries (Andhra Pradesh and Kerala) were organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 16-18 June, 2014 and 23-25 June, 2014 respectively. The main objectives of these trainings were to: apprise the participants to the policy and National curriculum of ECCE; review the revised ECCE curriculum for transaction in the AWCs; expose the participants to quality standard framework; provide a perspective on school readiness activities and assessment techniques; discuss on the facilitation skills for implementation of ECCE; and develop an action for rolling it out in the state. In all fifty-eight participants attended theses trainings.
  • Three Refresher Courses for CDPOs/ACDPOs were organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati, Regional Centre, Bengaluru and Headquarters from 2-6 June, 2014, 9-13 June, 2014 and 16-20 June, 2014 concurrently. The main objectives of these courses were to: review the implementation of ICDS programme in the State with regard to its various aspects: provide a forum for sharing of experiences in implementing ICDS programme; apprise CDPOs/ACDPOs about the recent developments and trends in ICDS programme; update their knowledge in the areas of early childhood care and development including nutrition and health care; and sharpen their communication, counseling and managerial skills. In all hundred and one participants attended these courses.
  • Skill Training on ECCE for DPOs/CDPOs was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 16-20 June, 2014 with the main objectives to: discuss the challenges in ECCE in the context of ECE policy; review the skills needed in implementation of ECCE in the light of restructured ICDS; and build the capacity of DPOs and CDPOs to guide and monitor the grass root level functionaries on effective implementation ECCE component. Twenty-four participants attended the training.
  • Job Training Course for Social Workers under ICPS was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 16-20 June, 2014 with the main objectives to: enable the participants to develop understanding on various issues concerning to children in need of care and protection and conflict with law, the existing Juvenile Justice System and the prevailing laws concerning children; orient the features of ICPS, its components and the role of various stakeholders under the JJ system and ICPS and their inter-linkages; discuss the role of Social Workers in implementation of ICPS in the district; evolve strategy for networking convergence and coordination mechanisms under ICPS; build capacities to develop and implement child protection plan at the district level and to develop competencies to carry out the responsibilities as Social Workers. Twenty-one participants attended the training.
  • Vertical Training Programme of Block Level ICDS Functionaries for Quality Improvement in ICDS Programme was organised by Regional Centre, Indore from 16-20 June 2014 with the main objectives to: enhance the skills of CDPOs and Supervisors to act as a master trainer for providing continuing education to AWWs at project level; provide inputs to improve knowledge and skills of all ICDS functionaries at project level for quality improvement in ICDS Services; and work jointly and formulate joint action plan at project level for quality improvement of delivery of ICDS services. Forty participants attended the training.
  • Training on Project Formulation and Fund Raising Techniques for VOs was organised by Regional Centre, Indore at Tapi, Gujarat from 16-20 June 2014 with the main objectives to: update the participants about the project formulation techniques for development interventions; strengthen the knowledge base of participants in financial management and planning; orient the participants about fund raising techniques; and impart knowledge on internal control, accounting systems and income tax rules and procedures. Thirty-eight participants attended the training.
  • Sensitisation Training on Prevention of Child Abuse for Officials of Education Department was organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati from 18-20 June, 2014 with the main objectives to: sensitize the officials of Education Department to the problem of child abuse; make the participants aware about existing policies and legislations measures pertaining to protection of children from abuse including POCSO Act; and enable them to take appropriate action for reducing the incidences of child abuse in schools. Forty-three participants attended the training.
  • Orientation Course on Early Childhood Care and Development was organised by Headquarters from 23-27 June, 2014 with the main objectives to: orient the participants to the recent developments in early childhood care and development; orient the participants to the various critical issues related to survival, growth and development of children; and help them to acquire skills for enhancing early childhood care and development. Nineteen participants attended the course.
  • Orientation Course for CDPOs on Prevention of Malnutrition & Mortality among Women & Children of High-Burden Districts was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 23-27 June, 2014 with the main objectives to: Enhance the understanding of the CDPOs with regard to current situation of nutrition in the states; apprise them about the recent updates and development in the field of nutrition; and equip them to draw up the plans for identification and intervention programme for areas with higher incidences of malnutrition and mortality. Twenty-two participants attended the course.

  • Job Training Course for CDPOs is being organised by Regional Centre, Indore from 23 June - 22 July, 2014. The main objectives of the course are to: orient CDPOs about ICDS Programme; orient them about situation of women and children with special reference to adolescent girls and policies and programme for women & children; apprise them of the latest developments and trends in ICDS programme; discuss job responsibilities of ICDS, Health and other functionaries and also their role in effective delivery of ICDS services; equip the participants with requisite skills to deliver ICDS services better; and develop managerial and administrative skills in participants. Thirty-nine participants attending the course.
  • Orientation Workshop on Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2000 for Juvenile Welfare Officers of Delhi Police was organised by Headquarters from 24-26 June, 2014 with the main objectives to: orient the participants to develop an understanding of the Juvenile Justice System; facilitate them to identify and analyze the problems of children in need of care and protection and children in conflict with law; and prepare them to effectively deal with children in a child-friendly way. Twenty-six participants attended the workshop.
  • Orientation Training for Master Trainers of ICDS on APIP was organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati from 24-26 June, 2014 with the main objectives to: appraise the participants on restructuring and strengthening of ICDS; acquaint the participants with the methods and techniques of collecting and collating the required data and other information for incorporation in the APIP; discuss the challenges encountered in preparation of APIPs; and identification of district level good practices and innovations for strengthening of APIP. Twenty participants attended the training.
  • Two Training Programmes on New MIS for DPOs and CDPOs of Uttar Pradesh were organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 25-27 June, 2014 and 30 June - 2 July, 2014 respectively. The main objectives of these trainings were to: orient the participants to the concept of New MIS and Use of MCP card; familiarize the participants with issues relating to MIS related procedures, activities; health and nutrition issues linked to MCP card its usage and implementation; and enable participants to impart meaningful trainings to the Supervisors and AWWs on new MIS and MCP Card. In all ninety-six participants attended these trainings.
  • Workshop on Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection) Act 2000 and POCSO Act 2012 was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow at Dharmshala, Himachal Pradesh from 26-27 June, 2014 with the main objectives to: enhance the knowledge of the participants about salient features of Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act 2000 and its Rules 2007; enhance the knowledge of the participants about salient features of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act & its Rules 2012; and develop an understanding of their role and responsibilities in implementation of these Acts. Eighty participants attended the workshop.
  • Workshop on Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012 and Law to Streamline the Procedure in Offences against Children for Police Officers (Uttarakhand Police Service) in collaboration with Uttarakhand Judicial and Legal Academy (UJALA) was organised by Headquarters at Bhowali, Nainital from 29-30 June, 2014 with the main objectives to: sensitize the participants about the sexual offences being committed against children and consequent trauma faced by them; apprise the Judicial and Police Officers about the salient features of the 'Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012; and orient them about their roles and responsibilities in protecting rights of children while dealing with them under various circumstances under the Act. Nineteen participants attended the workshop.
  • Training on Planning and Designing a Project for Executives of Voluntary Organisations was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 30 June-4 July, 2014 with the main objectives to: enable the participants to develop a perspective on the need and importance of a project; enhance knowledge base and skills of the participants to the techniques of planning, designing and presenting effective project proposals; develop skills in cost estimation and working out mechanism for monitoring and sustainability for a project; and analyze pitfalls in planning and designing project proposals. Thirty-nine participants attended the training.
  • Training Programme on Counselling Interventions for Children Affected by Trauma, Abuse and Neglect is being organised by Headquarters from 30 June-10 July, 2014 with the main objectives to: raise the competency standards of the caregivers working in the 'Homes' for children and improve the quality of the psychosocial care being provided to the children. Thirty-three participants attended the workshop.
  • Workshop on Management of Child Care Institutions for Personnel of CCIs was organised by Headquarters from 2-4 July, 2014 with the main objectives to discuss the conceptual framework of child rights, child care and protection in context of CCIs; develop skills for effective performance of their prescribed roles and responsibilities particularly in their management; and enhance the understanding about service delivery mechanisms and legal provisions. Twenty-nine participants attended the workshop.
  • Sensitisation Programme for Instructors of AWTCs/MLTCs on Strengthening and Restructuring of ICDS Programme was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 2-4 July, 2014 with the main objectives to sensitize the Instructors of AWTCs/MLTCs to the recent initiatives to strengthen and restructure the ICDS programme; acquaint them with the mechanisms evolved for implementation of ICDS in Mission mode ; and enable them to facilitate officials to contribute effectively for convergence of services of different departments/agencies for holistic development of women and children.   • Two Job Training Courses for CDPOs/ACDPOs are being organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 2 July-1 August, 2014 and Regional Centre, Lucknow from 7 July-6 August, 2014 respectively. The main objectives of these courses are to orient the CDPOs/ACDPOs about ICDS programme along with strengthening and restructuring ? its philosophy, objectives, package of services and beneficiaries; familiarize them with their role and responsibilities vis-a-vis job responsibilities of other block functionaries in coordination, supervision, and management of ICDS project; discuss the recent developments and thrusts in ICDS programme; share the need, importance and strategies for convergence of services at various levels of implementation; develop their requisite skills required for guiding grass roots level functionaries in preschool education, health & nutrition and community participation; and equip them with knowledge for effective leadership, supportive supervision and management of ICDS Projects. In all forty-five participants are attending these courses.

The main objectives of these workshops were to aware participants about different provisions made under POCSO Act 2012; and create awareness on the role of different stakeholders including VOs in the implementation of the Act. In all eighty-nine participants attended these camps.

  • Skill Training on Community Mobilisation, Advocacy, Awareness and IEC Campaign on the issues relating to Child Development was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 14-18 July, 2014 with the main objectives to orient the participants to the concept and importance of community mobilization, participation, advocacy, awareness and IEC campaign; develop skills on techniques and methods of community mobilization, advocacy and awareness campaign; and strengthen the skills of participants on eliciting community participation using various techniques for the effective implementation of ICDS programme.   • Orientation Training on Micro Finance and Income Generation Issues for NGOs of RMK was organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati from 21-25 July, 2014 with the main objectives to acquaint the participants to the concept of micro finance and its relevance to SHG movement; help the participants to understand the role of NGOs as micro finance organizations for supporting and guiding the SHGs for undertaking viable income generation activities; and develop the skills of the NGOs availing micro-credit facilities from RMK in effective financial management and reporting. Sixteen participants attended the training.
  • Training of Master Trainers on AWC-cum-Creche was organised by Headquarters at Regional Centre, Lucknow from 21-25 July, 2014 with the main objectives to orient the participants about salient aspects of AWC-cum- Creches and various provisions including human resource, financial, infrastructural and institutional arrangements/provisions made under restructured ICDS; and make them understand the modalities involved in no. of AWC-cum-Creches.   • Orientation Workshop on Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act & Rules, 2012 for District Child Protection Officers (DCPOs) is being organised by Headquarters from 30-31 July, 2014 with the main objectives to sensitize the participants about the sexual offences being committed against children and different support and rehabilitation services available for victims of sexual offences under POCSO Act & Rules 2012; develop an understanding of the role of DCPOs in implementation of the Act; and discuss about difficulties/problems encountered in the implementation of the Act and skills required in solving these problems. Thirty-two participants are attending the workshop.

Nineteen students have enrolled for the year 2014-15.
  • Training on Financial Management and Reporting for Voluntary Organisations was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 4-7 August, 2014 with the main objectives to: discuss the agency's obligations with regard to transparency; impact knowledge on need for developing effective internal controls and accounting systems; develop skills of functionaries in budgeting and maintain books of accounts; and discuss income tax rules and procedures. Thirty-nine participants attended the training.

  • Two Skill Trainings on ECCE for DPOs/CDPOs were organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow and Regional Centre, Indore from 4-8 August, 2014 with the main objectives to: familiarize the participants to the conceptual framework of ECCD; orient them on key child care behaviors; and facilitate participants to incorporate best child care practices in the existing set up of ICDS for strengthening the ECCD component. In all thirty participants attended these trainings.
  • Sensitization Programme on Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Amendment Act 2006 for Chairperson and Members of CWCs was organised by Regional Centre, Indore from 4-8 August, 2014 with the main objectives to: orient the participants on implementation of JJ Act in the Child Care Institutions; orient them towards various roles and responsibilities in implementation of the Juvenile Justice Act; create awareness on the role of voluntary agencies and community as provided in the Act; and create an understanding of the concept of rehabilitation and social reintegration of children. Sixteen participants attended the programme.
  • Job Training Course for Probation Officers of CCIs was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 4-8 August, 2014 with the main objectives to: examine the issue of child rights and protection in the Indian context; enable the participants to develop understanding on various issues concerning children in need of care and protection and in conflict with law; existing Juvenile Justice System and the prevailing laws concerning children; orient the features of ICPS, its components and the role of various stakeholders under the JJ system and ICPS and their inter-linkages; discuss the role of Legal cum Probation Officers in implementation of ICPS under DCPU; and develop understanding on various issues concerning juveniles in conflict with law, the existing Juvenile Justice System and the prevailing legislation to address these issues. Twenty-four participants attended the training.
  • Training of Trainers on Implementation of Revised ECE Curriculum for ICDS Functionaries was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru at Goa from 6-8 August, 2014 with the main objectives to: appraise the participants to the policy & National Curriculum of ECCE; review the revised ECCE Curriculum for transaction in the AWCs; expose the participants to quality standard framework; provide a perspective on school readiness activities & assessment techniques; discuss on the facilitation skills for implementation of ECCE; and develop an action plan for rolling it out in the states. Thirty participants attended the training.
  • Orientation Meeting for Nodal Officers dealing with training of ICDS Functionaries was organised by Headquarters from 11-12 August, 2014 with the main objectives to: familiarize the participants about recent developments in ICDS: discuss them about strategies for making effective training plan of ICDS functionaries; and analyse the problems hindering success. Thirty-five participants attended the meeting.
  • Orientation Workshop for CWCs Members was organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati from 11-12 August, 2014 with the main objectives to: develop understanding among the participants about the situation of children in India and challenges faced by children for their holistic development; sensitize and orient participants to the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act 2000, its Amendment Act 2006 and ICPS; orient the participants about the functioning, roles and responsibilities of Child Welfare Committees; understand and facilitate mechanisms for speedy disposal of cases; discuss the efficacy of institutional and non-institutional services under the Act; develop understanding of the concept of rehabilitation and social reintegration and to enable effective assessment of options in the best interest of children; and make them understand the role of different stakeholders as provided in the Act. Thirty-nine participants attended the workshop.
  • Skill Training for ICDS Functionaries on Social and Behaviour Change Communication (SBCC) was organised by Headquarters from 11-13 August, 2014 with the main objectives to: orient the ICDS functionaries to the principles of Social and Behaviour Change Communication and setting of communication objectives for ICDS; develop skills for effective value addition in communication process; enable trainees to develop communication materials for behaviour change; and enrich the participants develop need based model for social and behaviour change communication in their respective work places. Thirty-one participants attended the training.
  • Skill Training on ECCE for Instructors of AWTCs/MLTCs was organised by Regional Centre, Indore from 11-13 August, 2014 with the main objectives to: familiarize the Instructors of AWTCs/MLTCs on conceptual framework of ECCE; orient them on key child care behaviors; and facilitate participants to incorporate best child care practices in the existing set up of ICDS for strengthening the ECCE component.   • Orientation Course on Development and Protection Issues of Children for Members of Panchayati Raj Institutions was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 11-13 August, 2014 with the main objectives to: orient the participants on various issues affecting the development and protection of children; orient them on various policies and programme initiatives of Government relating to children; and discuss their role in accelerating the development process with regard to children. Twenty-six participants attended the course.
  • Workshop for Parents on Identification and Management of Children with Behavioural Problems was organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati from 12 August, 2014 with the main objectives to: sensitize the parents about the nature and magnitude of behavioural problems of children; and acquaint them about the behavior modification techniques to be used at home and providing a supportive home environment. Sixty-three participants attended the workshop.
  • Workshop on POCSO Act, 2012 for School Principals and Teachers was organised by Headquarters from 13-14 August, 2014 with the main objectives to sensitize the participants about sexual offences committed against children and provision under POCSO Act, 2012; develop an understanding of their role in implementation of the Act to protect child rights; and discuss the problems encountered in the implementation of the Act; skills required for protection of victims of sexual violence and child witness of sexual offences. Forty-two participants attended the workshop.
  • Two Workshops on Preparation of Training Module on Children affected by HIV/AIDS for Functionaries of ICPS were organised by Headquarters on 18 and 22 August, 2014 at Regional Centre (Bengaluru) & New Delhi with the main objectives to: prepare/pre-test a training module on HIV/AIDS-its topics, contents, methodology, learning objectives and expected outcomes which will be incorporated in different existing training modules of JJ System & ICPS functionaries and NGOs through the inputs of these stakeholders. In all forty-nine participants attended these workshops.
  • Training of CBOs Leaders on ICDS Scheme and Sensitizing Providers about Communities Most Vulnerable to HIV was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 18-20 August, 2014 with the main objectives to: impart an overall appreciation of ICDS programme and its benefits to CBOs; appraise with key components of the programme both as beneficiaries and as CBO representatives; explore modes of community participation and community ownership; and sensitize functionaries and Officials about the complexities of life of women living in socially vulnerable circumstances and its consequent impact on their health, household and children. Seventy-five participants attended the training.
  • Skill Training on New MIS & use of MCP Card for Instructors of AWTCs & MLTCs was organised by Headquarters from 19-21 August, 2014 with the main objectives to: orient the participants to the concept of New MIS and Use of MCP card; familiarize the participants with issues relating to MIS related procedures, activities ; health and nutrition issues linked to MCP card its usage and implementation; and enable participants to impart meaningful trainings to the Supervisors and AWWs on new MIS and MCP Card. Thirty-three participants attended the training.
  • Training of ICDS Functionaries on SABLA, IGMSY & MCP Card was organised by Headquarters from 19-21 August, 2014 with the main objectives to: orient the participants about Rajiv Gandhi Scheme for Empowerment of Adolescent Girls-SABLA, IGMSY and Use of MCP Card to tackle the inter-generational cycle of malnutrition effectively; apprise them of their role and responsibility in creating the awareness among the ICDS functionaries as trainers; enhance the capabilities of participants in counseling through MCP Card; and strengthen the monitoring and supervision aspect of SABLA & IGMSY. Twenty participants attended the training.
  • Skill Training Programme on Assessment of Child Learning Outcomes for ICDS Functionaries was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 19-21 August, 2014 with the main objectives to: understand the National Early Childhood Care & Education Policy and Assessment of Child Learning Outcome; sensitize to the role of the AWWs on CLC in ECCE component; appraise the participants to relook at the minimum standards of ECCE; orient to school readiness and techniques of assessment of children; and familiarize to the supportive monitoring and strengthening ECCE component. Thirty participants attended the training.
  • One day District Level Awareness Camp on POCSO Act, 2012 was organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati at Shillong on 20 August, 2014 with the main objectives to: create an awareness on the significance of the Act and its implementation; and to sensitize the role of different stakeholders in protecting the children from sexual offences.   • Sensitization Programme for Members of SJPUs was organised by Regional Centre, Indore from 20-22 August, 2014 with the main objectives to: orient the participants on UNCRC and Constitutional safeguards for children; enable them to develop an understanding of the Juvenile Justice System; create clarity and understanding of their roles and responsibilities in the implementation of the Act; and ensure speedy disposal of cases and orient them to the main features of ICPS: its components and approaches. Thirty-eight participants attended the programme.
  • Skill Training for ICDS Functionaries on SBCC was organised by Regional Centre, Indore from 25-27 August, 2014 with the main objectives to: make the participants aware on the concept of communication and communications barriers for behivour change; role of human behavior in creating enabling environment for social change; discuss various approaches for social behavior change communication; and understanding the communication pattern in Government Schemes and how to over come the challenges. Forty participants attended the training.
  • Job Training Course for Legal cum Probation Officers of ICPS was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 25-29 August, 2014 with the main objectives to: enable the participants to develop understanding on various issues concerning children in need of care and protection and in conflict with law, the existing Juvenile justice System and the prevailing laws concerning children; orient the features of ICPS, its components and the role of various stakeholders under the JJ system and ICPS and their inter-linkages; discuss the role of POs (non-institutional care) in implementation of ICPS in the district; and build capacities to develop and implement child protection plan at the district level and develop managerial competencies to carry out the responsibilities as POs. Thirty-four participants attended the training.
  • Vertical Training Programme of Block level ICDS functionaries for Quality Improvement in ICDS Programme was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 25-29 August, 2014 with the main objectives to: enhance the skills of CDPOS and Supervisors to act as a Master Trainer for providing continuing education to AWWs at project level; provide inputs to improve knowledge and skills of all ICDS functionaries at project level for quality improvement in ICDS services; and work jointly and formulate joint action plan at project level for quality improvement of delivery of ICDS services. Forty-five participants attended the training.
  • Workshop on Conceptualizing and Executing a Project for Functionaries of Voluntary Orgnisations was organised by Headquarters from 25-29 August, 2014 with the main objectives to: enable the participants to develop a perspective on the need and importance of a project; enhance the knowledge of the participants in conceptualizing and executing a project and develop skills in cost estimation and working out mechanisms for monitoring, evaluation and sustainability of a project. Thirty-nine participants attended the workshop.
  • Two Job Training Courses for CDPOs/ACDPOs are being organised by Headquarters and Regional Centre, Guwahati from 25 August-23 September, 2014 with the main objectives to: orient the trainee CDPOs/ ACDPOs about ICDS programme-its philosophy, objectives, package of services and beneficiaries with respect to restructured and strengthened ICDS and New Who Child Growth Standards, MCP card, schemes of SABLA & IGMSY; familiarize them with their role and responsibilities vis-a-vis job responsibilities of other block functionaries in coordination, supervision, and management of ICDS project; discuss with them the recent developments and thrusts in ICDS programme; share with them the need, importance and strategies for convergence of services at various levels of implementation; develop their requisite skills required for guiding grass roots level functionaries in preschool education, health & nutrition and community participation; and equip them with knowledge for effective leadership, supportive supervision and management of ICDS Projects. In all fifty-six participants are attending these trainings.
  • Orientation Training Programme on Prevention of Child Marriage, Female Foeticide and Infanticide for Voluntary Organizations was organised by Regional Centre, Indore from 26-28 August, 2014 with the main objectives to: sensitize the participants on issues of child marriages and gender violence with special reference to female foeticide and infanticide; discuss policies and legislations to curb female foeticide and infanticide; and analyze the current situation and provide suggestive strategies to minimize the problem and strengthen existing mechanism. Thirty-eight participants attended the training.

  • A Meeting of the Empowered Programme Committee on Programme Implementation Plans (APIPs) of ICDS was organized by Ministry of Women and Child Development on 10 September, 2014. The Institute provided logistic and technical support for the same.
  • Two Consultations on Track Child and ICPS were organized by Ministry of Women and Child Development from 23-24 September, 2014 at Bengaluru and from 29-30 September, 2014 at Bhopal. The Institute provided logistic and technical support for both consultations.
  • First meeting of the Committee for discussing the draft strategy note on the proposed 'Nutrition Mission' was organized on 26 September, 2014 under the Chairmanship of Secretary, MWCD. The Institute provided logistic and technical support for the same.
  • Central Monitoring Unit during the month of September, 2014 has received data of 15 ICDS Projects, 75 AWCs and one AWTCs alongwith 10 detailed reports from faculty/project staff of NIPCCD, RCs and Consultants of Selected Institutions.

  • Orientation of State Level Officials on Implementation of the Annual Contextualised ECCE Curriculum was organised by Headquarters at Regional Centre, Guwahati on 1 September, 2014 with the main objectives to: orient the senior officials/ Nodal Officers -In-charge of ECCE of state in rolling out the Annual Contextualised ECCE Curriculum. Thirty participants attended the course.
  • Orientation Course on Sexual and Reproductive Health was organised by Headquarters from 1-5 September, 2014 with the main objectives to: orient the participants on issues relating to sexual and reproductive health; and equip them with necessary skill for developing preventive strategies for dealing with issue relating to sexual and reproductive health. Twenty-one participants attended the course.
  • Skill Training on Early Childhood Care & Education (ECCE) for DPOs/CDPOs was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 1-5 September, 2014 with the main objectives to: discuss the challenges in ECCE in the context of ECE policy; review the skills needed in implementation of ECCE in the light of restructured ICDS; build the capacity of DPOs and CDPOs to guide the grass root level functionaries on effective implementation ECCE component; and orient the participants on their roles in Monitoring. Sixteen participants attended the training.
  • Three Refresher Courses for CDPOs/ACDPOs were organised by Regional Centre, Indore, Headquarters and Regional Centre, Guwahati from 1-5 September, 2014, 8-12 September, 2014 and 22-26 September, 2014 respectively. The main objectives of these courses were to: review the implementation of ICDS programme in the State with regard to its various aspects: provide a forum for sharing of experiences in implementing ICDS programme; apprise CDPOs/ACDPOs about the recent developments and trends in ICDS programme; update their knowledge in the areas of early childhood care and development including nutrition and health care; and sharpen their communication, counseling and managerial skills. In all fifty-three participants attended these courses.
  • Regional Workshop on Gender Budgeting was organised by Headquarters at Indore from 2-4 September, 2014 with the main objectives to: sensitize the participants on gender budgeting; apprise them about the concept and need of gender responsive budgeting and gender mainstreaming; discuss the extent to which gender issues are being addressed through budgetary allocations; and develop a way forward along with timelines for institutionalizing gender budgeting. Nineteen participants attended the workshop.
  • Training of State Level Master Trainers (SLMTs) on Implementation of the Annual Contextualised ECCE Curriculum was organised by Headquarters at Regional Centre, Guwahati from 2-6 September, 2014 with the main objectives to: familiarizes the participants on the concept, significance, principles and domains of child development; orient participants on the National ECCE Policy including Curriculum Framework and Quality Standards; develop knowledge, understanding and skills of participants in rolling out contextualised ECCE Curriculum at AWCs and preparing Plan of Action; develop the required training skills in participants in training Trainers of District Level Master Trainers on rolling out contextualized ECCE Curriculum at AWCs; develop proper understanding and skills of participants on supportive supervision, formative and continuous assessment of implementation of ECCE as well as progress of children at AWCs.   • One day Orientation Programme on Sneha Shivir for DPOs/CDPOs was organised by Headquarters at Jaipur on 8 September, 2014 with the main objectives to: orient the participants about the concept of Sneha Shivir; discuss the planning process of setting up of Nutrition Counselling and Child Care Sessions in the community; and discuss roles and responsibilities of various ICDS functionaries in organisation of Sneha Shivir. Forty-five participants attended the programme.
  • Capacity Building of Functionaries of Government and Voluntary Organisations on Leadership Development in Nutrition and Health Care for Women was organised by Regional Centre, Indore from 8-12 September, 2014 with the main objectives to: enable the participants to acquire necessary skills and knowledge for identification of issues on nutrition and health; discuss the method /techniques to prepare regional and national level nutritional security status of women and children and formulate plans and strategies involving different institutions; identify joint action programme with other line departments and implementing schemes and promote programme on the role of women; understand role, rights and responsibilities of women functionaries to develop capacity for active participation; and develop knowledge and skills about various training methods and techniques for effective organisation of capacity building training.   • Sensitization Programme for School Teachers on Child Mental Health was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 9-11 September, 2014 with the main objectives to: sensitise teachers on mental health issues concerning children in schools; acquaint them with learning and behavioural problems of children and enable them to develop a strategy for providing or seeking timely intervention from specialized agencies. Eighteen participants attended the programme.
  • Parental Education Workshop was organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati on 12 September, 2014 with the main objectives to: develop an understanding about the needs of the children at adolescent stage; and help parents to help their children to cope with the physical, emotional and mental changes and demands during different stages for optimum development. Ninety-eight participants attended the training.

  • Two Vertical Training Programmes of Block Level ICDS Functionaries for Quality Improvement in ICDS Programme were organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru and Regional Centre, Indore from 15-19 September, 2014 respectively.   • Training Programme on Counselling Skills for Institutions Providing Care to Distressed Women was organised by Headquarters from 15-19 September, 2014 with the main objectives to: create awareness about gender based violence, programme, institutional and non-institutional support services for distressed women; identification of problems of distress women counselling process, methods & techniques; develop communication, negotiation and counseling skills; promote networking among NGOs and providing support services to women in distress. Seventeen participants attended the programme.
  • Training on Fund Raising Techniques and Resource Management for Voluntary Organisations was organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati from 16-18 September, 2014 with the main objectives to: enhance the knowledge and understanding of the representatives of NGOs on the techniques of fund raising and resource management; enable them to understand the need to reduce their dependency on donor agencies by developing necessary skills to adopt a sustainable alternatives for programme implementation; and make the participants to be able to manage their financial matters efficiently and to get acquainted with the legal framework for voluntary organization. Thirty-nine participants attended the training.
  • Workshop on Child Rights for Chairpersons and Members of State Commissions for Protection of Child Rights was organised by Headquarters at Regional Centre, Lucknow from 17-18 September, 2014 with the main objectives to: sensitize the Chairpersons and Members towards child rights, developmental policies and programmes for children; discuss roles of SCPCRs in protection of child rights and enhancing their access to child rights; and orient the participants towards provisions of law to protect children and prevent child abuse. Twenty-seven participants attended the workshop.
  • Workshop for Parents on Challenging Learning Disability: Pathways to Future was organised by Headquarters on 20 September, 2014 with the main objectives to: provide a platform to parents for interaction with professionals and other parents to build their understanding about learning disability; and empower parents with the strategies of looking beyond the disability and identifying the spark and the possibilities in their child by meeting empowered parents. Forty-four participants attended the workshop.

  • Review Workshop on Early Detection and Early Intervention of Disabilities in ICDS projects was organised by Headquarters from 24-25 September, 2014 with the main objectives to: finalize the of training material used for training Anganwadi Workers. Twenty-three participants attended the workshop.
  • Orientation Workshop on Child Rights and Child Protection for Chairpersons and Members of CWCs was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 24-25 September, 2014 with the main objectives to: develop understanding among the participants about the situation of children in India and challenges faced by children for their holistic development; sensitize and orient participants to the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act 2000, its Amendment Act 2006 and ICPS; orient the participants about the functioning, roles and responsibilities of Child Welfare Committees; understand and facilitate mechanisms for speedy disposal of cases; discuss the efficacy of institutional & non-institutional services under the Act; develop understanding of the concept of rehabilitation and social reintegration and to enable effective assessment of options in the best interest of children and understand the role of different stakeholders as provided in the Act. Twenty-eight participants attended the workshop.
  • Sensitisation Programme for Instructors of AWTCs/MLTCs on Strengthening and Restructuring of ICDS Programme was organised by Regional Centre, Indore from 24-26 September, 2014 with the main objectives to: sensitize the State level officials to the recent initiatives to strengthen and restructure the ICDS programme; acquaint participants with the mechanisms evolved for implementation of ICDS in mission mode; and enable these participants to contribute effectively for training and orientation of AWWs and Supervisors. Thirty-five participants attended the programme.
  • Regional Workshop on Gender Budgeting was organised by Headquarters at Guwahati from 24-26 September, 2014 with the main objectives to: sensitize the participants on gender budgeting; apprise them about the concept and need of gender responsive budgeting and gender mainstreaming; discuss the extent to which gender issues are being addressed through budgetary allocations; and develop a way forward along with timelines for institutionalizing gender budgeting. Twenty-four participants attended the workshop.
  • One Day District Level Awareness Camp on POCSO Act, 2012 was organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati at Darrang District on 25 September, 2014 with the main objectives to: create an awareness on the significance of the Act and its implementation; and sensitize regarding role of different stakeholders in protecting the children from sexual offences. Seventy-two participants attended the camp.
  • Sensitization Programme on Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO 2012) was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 29-30 September, 2014 with the main objectives to:- Orient the participants to the gender based violence and rights of children; apprise the participants of the salient features of the 'Protection of Children from Sexual Offences' (POCSO) Act and its Rules 2012; and orient them about the roles and responsibilities of various stakeholders in implementing the Act. Twelve participants attended the training.
  • Skill Training for ICDS Functionaries on Social and Behaviour Change Communication (SBCC) is being organised by Headquarters from 29 September-1 October, 2014 with the main objectives to: orient the ICDS functionaries to the principles of Social and Behaviour Change Communication and setting up of communication objectives for ICDS; develop skills for effective value addition in communication process; enable trainees to develop communication materials for behaviour change; and enrich the participants to develop need based model for social and behaviour change communication in their respective to work places. Twenty-four participants attended the training.
  • Workshop on Development of Entrepreneurial Skills and Promotion of Micro Enterprise for Women is being organised by Headquarters from 29 September-1 October, 2014 with the main objectives to: review emerging trends in economic empowerment of women; develop understanding of the regulatory framework of financial institutions for fostering entrepreneurship and micro enterprise development among women; discuss challenges and good practices in organizing women's groups, generating new business ideas, manufacturing and marketing of products and mobilizing forward and backward linkages in entrepreneurship development; provide a forum for sharing the experiences and good practices on the issues of micro enterprise for women; and evolve strategies for skill development and support system for economic empowerment of women with emphasis on viability and sustainability. Twenty-five participants attended the workshop.

Important Activities
  • Two Consultations on Track Child and ICPS were organized by Ministry of Women and Child Development from 9-10 October, 2014 at Guwahati and from 16-17 October, 2014 at Lucknow. The Institute provided logistic and technical support for both consultations.
  • A National Consultation on Beti Bachao Beti Padhao was organised by Headquarters on 29 October, 2014 to finalise the training module and modalities of training and implementation of BBBP initiatives and take final comments and feedback from the State Government Officials working in districts having adverse child sex ratio and experts in the field of education, law, gender, health etc. The programme was inaugurated by Smt. Maneka Sanjay Gandhi, Hon'ble Union Minister for Women & Child Development.
  • A State Consultation on the Draft Rules framed under National Food Security Act (NFSA) pertaining to ICDS was organised by MWCD on 30 October, 2014 at headquarters. The Institute provided logistic and technical support for both consultations.
  • Central Monitoring Unit during the month of October, 2014 has received data of 22 ICDS Projects, 129 AWCs. 2 MLTCs and 8 AWTCs alongwith 18 detailed reports from faculty/project staff of NIPCCD, RCs and Consultants of Selected Institutions.
Regular Training Programmes

  • Orientation Training Programmes for ICDS Functionaries on Growth Monitoring and Mother and Child Protection Card was organised by Headquarters from 7-9 October, 2014 with the main objectives to: orient the ICDS functionaries to New WHO Child Growth Standards and joint MCP Card in ICDS; develop necessary skill among the participants to use new WHO growth chart joint MCP card in ICDS; and enable participants to impart further training to their Supervisors and AWWs in plotting and using the new WHO growth chart and MCP Card. Twenty-five participants attended the programme.
  • Two Orientation Training Programmes for ICDS Functionaries on SABLA, IGMSY Schemes were organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 8-10 October, 2014 and 28-30 October, 2014 respectively. The main objectives of these courses were to: orient the participants to Rajiv Gandhi Scheme for Empowerment of Adolescent Girls- SABLA & Indira Gandhi Matritava Sahyog Yojana (IGMSY) of MWCD, GOI; apprise them of their role and responsibility in creating the awareness among the AWWs and Supervisors; impart skills in assessment, interpretation of growth curves and counseling of mothers using MCP Card effectively for promotion of optimal growth and development of the child.   • Skill Training on New MIS & use of MCP Card for Instructors of AWTCs & MLTCs was organised by Regional Centre, Indore from 8-10 October, 2014 with the main objectives to: develop necessary skills among the participants for revised MIS and MCP Cards; enable the trainers to impart meaningful trainings to the AWWs in filling revised records, registers MPR and MCP Card; and strengthen communication and counseling skills of trainers. Thirty participants attended the training.
  • Workshop on Juvenile Justice and ICPS for Chairpersons/Members of CWCs was organised by Headquarters from 9-10 October, 2014 with the main objectives to: sensitize participants to the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children)Act 2000 and Amendment Act 2011; discuss the role and responsibilities Chairpersons and Members of CWCs in the context of JJ Act and POCSO Act, and create an understanding of the concept of rehabilitation and social reintegration as well as non-institutional services under the JJ Act. Twenty-four participants attended the workshop.
  • Orientation of State Level Officials on Implementation of the Annual Contextualised ECCE Curriculum was organised by Headquarters at Regional Centre Lucknow on 13 October, 2014 with main objectives to: orient state ICDS officials, Nodal Officer-in-charge of ECCE in rolling out the Annual Contextualised ECCE Curriculum. Twelve participants attended the course.
  • Orientation Programme on Legal Rights and Entitlements for Women was organised by Headquarters from 13-17 October, 2014 with the main objectives to: sensitize the participants about women empowerment and women's rights and their effective implementation; make them aware of Constitutional provisions and legislations relating to women; familiarize them about existing support for women; and promote networking among NGOs and Institutions providing support services to women for their rights. Sixteen participants attended the programme.
  • Three Refresher Courses for CDPOs/ACDPOs were organised by Headquarters and Regional Centres, Bengaluru and Indore from 13-17 October, 2014 respectively. The main objectives of these courses were to: review the implementation of ICDS programme in the State with regard to its various aspects: provide a forum for sharing of experiences in implementing ICDS programme; apprise CDPOs/ACDPOs about the recent developments and trends in ICDS programme; update their knowledge in the areas of early childhood care and development including nutrition and health care; and sharpen their communication, counseling and (SLMTs) implementation of the managerial skills.   • Skill Training on ECCE for DPOs/CDPOs was organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati from 13-17 October, 2014 with the main objectives to: orient the participants to the National ECCE policy and process of developing state ECCE curriculum and its implementation; acquaint the participants to the developments in relation to ECCE under restructuring of ICDS; and build the capacity of the CDPOs/DPOs to effectively guide the grass root level functionaries for qualitative improvement of ECCE service. Twenty-five participants attended the training.
  • Orientation Programme for DCPOs of District Child Protection Units, Protection-cum-Legal Officials, Social Workers and Out-reach Workers etc. was organised by Regional Centre, Indore from 13-17 October, 2014 with the main objectives to: provide in depth understanding of ICPS programme framework and the respective roles and responsibilities of DCPOs, Protection-cum-Legal Officials, Social Workers and Out-reach Workers; and enable them in effectively discharging their duties. Fifty participants attended the programme.
  • Orientation Training on Micro-finance and Income Generation Issues for NGOs was organised by Regional Centre, Indore from 13-17 October, 2014 with the main objectives to: orient the NGO personnel to the objectives, beneficiaries, coverage and the scope of RMK scheme for empowerment of women; acquaint them to the concept of micro finance and its relevance to SHG movement; help them to understand the role of NGOs as Microfinance Organizations for supporting and guiding the SHGs for undertaking viable income generation activities; and develop skills on availing Micro-Credit facilities from RMK in effective financial management and reporting. Twenty participants attended the training.
  • Training of State Level Master Trainers on Annual Contextualised ECCE Curriculum was organised by Headquarters at Regional Centre Lucknow from 14-18 October, 2014 with the main objectives to: familiarize the participants on the concept, significance, principles and domains of child development; orient participants on the National ECCE Policy including Curriculum Framework and Quality Standards; develop knowledge, understanding and skills of participants in rolling out contextualized ECCE Curriculum at AWCs and preparing Plan of Action; develop the required training skills in participants in training of Trainers of District Level Master Trainers (DLMTs) on rolling out contextualized ECCE Curriculum at AWCs; and develop proper understanding and skills of participants on supportive supervision, formative and continuous assessment of implementation of ECCE as well as progress of children at AWCs. Sixty participants attended the training.
  • Training on Holistic Development of Adolescents for Officials of Education Department was organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati from 15-17 October, 2014 with the main objectives to: orient the officials of education department about physical and psychological changes during adolescence and challenges of adolescents; apprise them to reproductive health issues and nutritional needs of adolescents; and sensitize the participants about their role in healthy development of adolescents in schools. Twenty participants attended the training.
  • Vertical Training Course on Infant & Young Child Feeding for ICDS Functionaries was organised by Headquarters from 15-17 October, 2014 with the main objectives to: enhance the technical knowledge on Infant and Young Child Feeding; build the counseling skills on exclusive breastfeeding and complementary feeding; and practice IYCF counseling with emphasis on correct positioning, helping mothers to breast feed through clinical practice. Twenty-seven participants attended the training.
  • Two Skill Training Programmes on ECCE for Instructors of AWTCs/MLTCs were organised by Headquarters and Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 20-22 October, 2014 respectively. The main objectives of these courses were to: develop a better understanding of the concepts of early childhood years, ECD, ECCD, ECCE and linkages with one another among the trainees; make them understand the issues relating to ECCE in the light of national policy of ECCE and restructured ICDS, and enable the Instructors to impart effective training on ECCE and guide the AWWs and Supervisors for proper delivery of ECCE programme to ensure optimum early childhood development in children. In all forty-two participants attended these training.
  • Orientation Training Programme for Superintendents of Child Care Institutions under ICPS was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 27-31 October, 2014 with the main objectives to: orient the participants to the conceptual framework of child rights and protection; enable them to understand service delivery mechanisms and legal provisions; and create an understanding of the good child protection practices including various legislations, policies and programmes etc. Twenty-four participants attended the training.
  • Workshop on POCSO Act, & Rules, 2012 for Police/SJPU was organised by Headquarters at Regional Centre, Lucknow from 28-29 October, 2014 with the main objectives to: enhance the knowledge of the participants about salient features of POCSO Act and Rules, 2012; sensitise the participants about the sexual offences being committed against children and consequent trauma faced by them; and develop an understanding of their role and problems encountered in implementation of the Act. Forty-one participants attended the workshop.
  • Orientation Workshop for Law Enforcement Agencies on POCSO Act, 2012 was organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati from 28-29 October, 2014 with the main objectives to: sensitize the personnel from Law Enforcement Agencies to the provisions of POCSO Act and Rules, 2012; enable them to understand and contextualize the Act in the light of the rights of children; and develop an understanding of their role in implementation of the Act. Twenty-nine participants attended the training.
  • Vertical Training Programme of Block Level ICDS Functionaries for Quality Improvement in ICDS Programme was organised by Headquarters at Hoshiarpur, Punjab from 28 October -1 November, 2014 with the main objectives to: enhance the skills of CDPOs and Supervisors to act as a Master Trainer for providing continuing education to AWWs at project level; provide inputs to improve knowledge and skills of all ICDS functionaries at project level for quality improvement in ICDS Services; and work jointly and formulate joint action plan at project level for quality improvement of delivery of ICDS services. Forty-four participants attended the training.
  • Training on Ensuring Food Safety and Maintaining Food Standards in Supplementary Nutrition in ICDS was organised by Headquarters from 29-31 October, 2014 with the main objectives to: enable the participants to develop an understanding of safe food handling practices highlighting its importance in health and nutrition wellbeing; orient the participants to the food safety measures for SNP of ICDS; get an insight into food adulteration and the laws regulating the food safety; and discuss the role of ICDS functionaries in ensuring food safety at AWCs. Twenty-one participants attended the training.
  • Awareness Camp on Life Skill Education for Parents and Adolescents was organised by Regional Centre, Indore on 30 October, 2014 with the main objectives to: orient participants on holistic development of adolescent girls; sensitize them about their role and responsibilities; and make them understand the concept and scope of family life education for adolescent girls. One hundred and eight participants attended the camp.
  • Workshop on POCSO Act, 2012 for School Principals and Teachers was organised by Headquarters from 30-31 October, 2014 with the main objectives to: sensitize the participants about the sexual offences committed against children and provision under POCSO Act, 2012; develop an understanding of their role in implementation of the Act to protect child rights and discuss the problems encountered in the implementation of the Act and skills required for protection of victims and sexual violence and child witness of sexual offences. Thirty-two participants attended the workshop.

Important Activities
  • Ministry of Women and Child Development has organized Exhibition on the theme "Women of India" from 12-19 November, 2014 at INA, Delhi Haat, New Delhi. The exhibition presented a combination of ideas, information, activities, interaction, cultural programmes, thematic exhibition, display of services of States and products of NGOs and partners. Besides, there were 200 stalls from organisations like Ambapali, Rangsutra, Dastkari Haat Samiti, Sabala Handicrafts, North Eastern Development Finance Corporation, Guwahati (NEDFi), Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India (TRIFED), Ministry of Tribal Affairs, GOI, Shashvt Mahila Sangthan and National Innovation Foundation (Ahmedabad, Gujarat) etc. to exhibit their products. As per the theme, this year exhibition was specially focused on Women of India, therefore success stories of Eminent Women of India were highlighted in the panels. Major attractions of panels were Beti Bachao and Beti Padhao and Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. The Institute provided technical and logistic support for the same.
  • Ministry of Women and Child Development organised award ceremony for National Child Awards for Exceptional Achievement-2014, Rajiv Gandhi Manav Seva Award-2014 and National Awards for Child Welfare-2013 on 14 November, 2014 at Rashtrapati Bhawan. The function was presided over by Shri Pranab Mukherjee, Hon'ble President of India and also presented the awards. Smt. Maneka Sanjay Gandhi, Hon'ble Minister of Women and Child Development was also present in the function. The Institute provided logistic support to MWCD for the celebration of this function.
  • A Booklet on Bal Swachhata Mission?Swachh Bharat Swachh Anganwadi in English & Hindi was released by Smt. Maneka Sanjay Gandhi, Hon'ble Minister of Women and Child Development on the occasion of "Bal Divas" on 14 November, 2014 at Dilli Haat, INA, New Delhi.
  • Bal Swachhta Mission under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan was organized in 25 States/UTs namely Delhi, Chandigarh, Haryana, Punjab, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Telengana, Karnataka, Daman & Diu, Dadra & Nagar Haveli, Uttarakhand, Bihar, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland and Tripura of India. Faculty members from NIPCCD (Hqrs.) and NIPCCD (RCs) got involved in various activities at various ICDS projects for awareness and involvement of AWWs, adolescents, mothers and children related to the themes mentioned below. The themes of the mission were Clean Anganwadis, Clean Surroundings (eg.playgrounds), Clean Self (Personal hygiene/child health), Clean Food, Clean Drinking Water and Clean Toilets.

In all fifty-nine participants attended the training.
  • Awareness Generation Camp on Child Rights and Protection for School Children was organised by Regional Centre, Indore on 14 November, 2014 with the main objectives to: discuss the problems and challenges faced by children and specific issues of child rights and protection; and aware the children on national initiatives for child rights and child protection including various legal instruments and services for child protection. One hundred & seven participants attended the camp.

  • Orientation Training on Counselling Skills for the Counsellors under ICPS was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 17-21 November, 2014 with the main objectives to: enable participants to develop understanding on various issues concerning children in need of care and protection and in conflict with law, the existing Juvenile justice System and the prevailing laws concerning children; orient the features of ICPS, its components and the role of various stakeholders under the JJ system and ICPS and their inter-linkages; discuss the role of Counsellors in implementation of ICPS in the district; equip the participants with counselling skills; evolve strategy for networking and convergence; and coordination mechanisms under ICPS; and develop competencies to carry out the responsibilities as Counsellor. Twenty-four participants attended the training.
  • Sensitization Training Programme for Stakeholders on Effective Implementation of Food Safety and Standard Act (FSSA) was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 18-19 November, 2014 with the main objectives to: familiarize the stakeholders for effective implementation of Food safety and Standard Act; appraise the participants about Supreme Court Guidelines on Food safety and about the Human Rights perspective in FSSA; and evolve strategies for coordination and action by stakeholders for effective implementation of Food Safety and Standard Act and its rules and regulations. Thirty participants attended the programme.
  • Sensitization Programme on Implementation of 'Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005' was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 18-20 November, 2014 with the main objectives to: sensitize the participants on locus and manifestation of gender violence; discuss policies and legislative measures to curb atrocities against women specially on domestic violence; analyze the problem and work out strategies for addressing the problem of domestic violence of women; and discuss existing mechanisms/support services and offer suggestions towards strengthening them. Thirty-six participants attended the programme.
  • Workshop for Teachers on Identification and Management of Behavioural problems of Children was organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati from 19-20 November, 2014 with the main objectives to: acquaint the teachers about the nature and magnitude of behavioral problems of children; enable them with the process/methods to identify children with behavioral problems; and acquaint the teachers about behavior modification techniques to be used at school and provision of a supportive environment. Forty teachers attended the workshop.
  • Skill Training on Identification Problems & Promotion of Cognitive Development in Early Childhood years for ICDS Officials and Civil Society Organisation was organised by Regional Centre, Indore at Pune from 24-26 November, 2014 with the main objectives to: sensitize participants about growing importance of child's brain development with special emphasis on Cognitive Development in the early childhood period; orient them about important factors affecting heredity, nutrition, health and environment on development of cognition and impact on personality; develop skills in providing stimulation to young children and ensuring optimal use of developmentally appropriate play materials for promoting cognitive development; and promote NGO participation in ICDS programme in convergence of service.   • Training Programme for Police Personnel on POCSO Act, 2012 was organised by Headquarters from 24-26 November, 2014 with the main objectives to: enhance the knowledge of the participants about sailent features of POCSO Act and Rules, 2012 and role of implementing agencies to protect child rights; sensitize the participants about the sexual offences being committed against children and consequent trauma faced by them; and discuss about problems in the implementation of the Act and skills to handle cases of child sexual abuse. Seventeen participants attended the programme.
  • Orientation Training Programme for Protection Officers of DCPU was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 24-28 November, 2014 with the main objectives to: examine the issue of child rights and protection in the Indian context; enable the participants to develop understanding on various issues concerning children in need of care and protection and in conflict with law, the existing Juvenile Justice System and the prevailing laws concerning children; orient the features of ICPS, its components and the role of various stakeholders under the JJ system and ICPS and their inter linkages; discuss the role of POs in implementation of ICPS in the district; evolve strategy for networking convergence and coordination mechanisms under ICPS; build capacities to develop and implement child protection plan at the district level; and develop managerial competencies to carry out the responsibilities as DCPOs. Twenty-six participants attended the training.
  • Orientation Training for the Superintendants, Welfare Officers of CCIs and Counsellor of Open Shelters was organised by Regional Centre, Indore from 24-28 November, 2014 with the main objectives to: orient participants on implementation of JJ Act in the child care institutions; orient them towards various roles and responsibilities in implementation of the Juvenile Justice Act; orient on effective communication skills in dealing with children; and make the participants aware on the concept and methods of case intervention and counseling skills. Twenty-seven participants attended the training.
  • Refresher Course for CDPOs/ACDPOs was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 24-28 November, 2014 with the main objectives to: review the implementation of restructured and strengthened ICDS programme in the State with regard to its various aspects; provide a forum for sharing of experiences in implementing ICDS programme; apprise CDPOs/ACDPOs about the recent developments and trends in ICDS programme; update their knowledge in the areas of early childhood care and development including nutrition and health care; and sharpen their communication, counselling and managerial skills. Twenty-two participants attended the course.
  • Training of State Level Master Trainers (SLMTs) on Implementation of the Annual Contextualised ECCE Curriculum was organised by Headquarters from 24-29 November, 2014 with the main objectives to: familiarize the participants on the concept, significance, principles and domains of child development; orient participants on the National ECCE Policy including Curriculum Framework and Quality Standards; develop knowledge, understanding and skills of participants in rolling out contextualised ECCE Curriculum at AWCs and preparing Plan of Action; develop the required training skills in participants in training Trainers of District Level Master Trainers on rolling out contextualized ECCE Curriculum at AWCs; develop proper understanding and skills of participants on supportive supervision, formative and continuous assessment of implementation of ECCE as well as progress of children at AWCs. Forty-three participants attended the training.
  • Job Training Course for CDPOs/ACDPOs is being organised by Regional Centre, Indore from 24 November-23 December,2014 with the main objectives to: orient CDPOs about ICDS Programme; orient them about situation of women and children with special reference to adolescent girls and policies and programme for women & children; apprise them of the latest developments and trends in ICDS programme; discuss job responsibilities of ICDS, health and other functionaries and also their role in effective delivery of ICDS services; equip the participants with requisite skills to deliver ICDS services better; and develop managerial and administrative skills in participants. Fifteen participants attending the training.
  • Skill Training for ICDS Functionaries on SBCC was organised by Regional Centre, Indore from 25-27 November, 2014 with the main objectives to: make the participants aware on the concept of communication and communication barriers for behivour change; discuss role of human behavior in creating enabling environment for social change; discuss various approaches for social behavior change communication; and understanding the communication pattern in Government Schemes and how to over come the challenges. Twenty-seven participants attended the training.
  • Skill Training Programme on Assessment of Child Learning Outcomes for ICDS Functionaries was organised by Headquarters from 26-28 November, 2014 with the main objectives to: appraise the ICDS functionaries to the concept of child learning outcomes; make them understand the importance of adequate child learning outcome for later learning and development; help them to visualize the link between the quality of ECE programme and child learning outcome; and develop the skill of ICDS functionaries for assessing children's learning. Sixteen participants attended the training.
  • Orientation Course for Statistical Assistants on MIS in ICDS was organised by Headquarters at Regional Centre Lucknow from 26-28 November, 2014 with the main objectives to: apprise the participants about the concept and significance of Management Information System in ICDS; orient them about the new Management Information System (MIS) in ICDS scheme; and guide them about utilization of MPR data in ICDS. Twenty-one participants attended the training.
  • Sensitization Programme on Promotion of Psychological Health and Nutrition Care of School going Children was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 26-28 November, 2014 with the main objectives to: appraise the participants on the issues related to nutrition and psychological health; make them aware on personal hygiene and sanitation; and equip them on life skill education and personality development. Eighteen participants attended the programme.
