Regular Training Programmes

  • Orientation Course for Functionaries of Voluntary Organisations on Monitoring and Evaluation of Developmental Programmes for Women and Children was organised by Headquarters from 2-6 January, 2017 with the main objectives to: orient the participants to the concept and importance of Monitoring and Evaluation in Social Development Programmes; apprise the participants to the latest methods/techniques of monitoring and evaluation of the programmes; and enhance the skills of participants for quality monitoring and supervision of women and child development programmes. Twenty-three participants attended the course.
  • Skill Training for ICDS Functionaries on Social and Behaviour Change Communication (SBCC) was organised by Headquarters from 4-6 January, 2017 with the main objectives to: orient the ICDS functionaries to the principles of Social and Behaviour Change Communication and setting of communication objectives for ICDS; develop skills for effective value addition in communication process; enable trainees to develop communication materials for behaviour change; and enrich the participants develop need based model for social and behaviour change communication in their respective work places. Twenty-one participants attended the skill training programme.
  • Orientation Training Programme on Criminal Law Amendment Act 2013, and IPC (45 of 1860) related to Crime Against Women was organised by Headquarters from 3-4 January, 2017 with the main objectives to: orient the participants on legislative amendments relating to various sections under IPC and Criminal Law Amendment Act 2013; capacity building of the participants on practical problems faced in interpretation of various sections relating to crime against women; and amendments if any, to be suggested in relation to the existing laws relating to women etc. Thirty-two participants attended the training programme.
  • Workshop on Juvenile Justice System and Child Sexual Abuse for State Level ICPS Functionaries was organised by Headquarters on 9-13 January 2017 with the main objectives to: orient the participants about UNCRC and constitutional safeguards for children; enable them to develop an understanding of the Juvenile Justice System; facilitate them to identify and analyse linkages, coordination mechanisms and challenges in the juvenile justice law; develop a plan of action for capacity building of key personnel concerned with child protection and orient them to the critical issues in dealing with children in need of care and protection; and their role and responsibilities in addressing these issues. Thirty-four participants attended the workshop.
  • Three Refresher Courses for CDPOs/ACDPOs were organised by Headquarter and Regional Centre, Lucknow from 9-13 January, 2017 and by Regional Centre, Guwahati from 30 Jan-03 Feb. 2017 with the main objectives to: review the implementation of ICDS programme in the State with regard to its various aspects: provide a forum for sharing of experiences in implementing ICDS programme; apprise CDPOs/ACDPOs about the recent developments and trends in ICDS programme; update their knowledge in the areas of early childhood care and development including nutrition and health care; and sharpen their communication, counseling and managerial. In all, fifty-four participants attended these courses.
  • Phase - II Training of State/UT level Master Trainers (SLMTs) on Implementation of the Annual Contextualized ECCE Curriculum was organised by Headquarters at Regional Centre Bengaluaru from 9-13 January, 2017 with the main objectives to: review the implementation of Annual Contextualized ECCE Curriculum in the States; share the experiences of challenges faced by the States in implementation of the ECCE Curriculum; refresh the participants about the concept & importance of ECCE; make the participants understand about the philosophy, principles and components of the National ECCE Policy, curriculum framework and quality standards; familiarize the participants with the State specific ECE curriculum and roll out of the same in the AWCs; orient participants on the diversity issues and strategies to handle diversity in the classroom and assessment of children at AWC; develop skills of the participants to train on the execution of the daily/weekly lesson plans based on thematic approach; and discuss about the possutions or strategies to meet the challenges and effectively roll out the annual contextualized curriculum. Thirty participants attended the training programme.
  • Orientation Program on Fund Raising Techniques and Resource Management for Functionaries of Voluntary Organizations was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 9-13 January 2017 with the main objectives to: acquaint the representatives of voluntary organizations on the methods and techniques of fund raising; impart knowledge on need for developing internal controls and accounting systems for effective utilization and management of funds and; discuss the potential and strategies through various media for resource mobilization; and appraise the participants on legal and administrative compliance stipulated for voluntary organizations. Twenty-seven participants attended the programme.
  • Consultation Meet on Development of Training Strategy for Functionaries of One Stop Centres was organised by Headquarters on 10 January, 2017 with the main objectives to: formulate a training strategy for functionaries of OSCs across cadres and geographical areas; firm up the content for the training of OSC functionaries; sharing of best practices in training of OSCs; and build a repertoire of IEC material. Twelve participants attended the meet.
  • Sensitization Training Programme on Prevention of Trafficking of Women and Children for Law Enforcement Agencies, ICPS & ICDS Functionaries was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 10-12 January, 2017 with the main objectives to: discuss legal provisions and support services for rescue and rehabilitation and repatriation of trafficked women and children; and suggest the ways and means to prevent trafficking of women and children. Twenty-nine participants attended the training programme.
  • Training for Counsellors on Enhancing Life Skills for Adolescent Parenting was organised by Headquarters from 16-20 January, 2017 with the main objectives to: orient the ICDS functionaries to the principles of Social and Behaviour Change Communication and setting of communication objectives for ICDS; develop skills for effective value addition in communication process; enable trainees to develop communication materials for behaviour change; and enrich the participants develop need based model for social and behaviour change communication in their respective work places. Twelve participants attended the training programme.
  • Job Training Course for CDPOs/ ACDPOs is being organised by Regional Centre, Indore from 16 January-15 February 2017 with the main objectives to: orient the trainee CDPOs/ ACDPOs about ICDS programme – its philosophy, objectives, package of services and beneficiaries with respect to restructured and strengthened ICDS and New Who Child Growth Standards, MCP card, schemes of SABLA & IGMSY; familiarize them with their role and responsibilities vis-a-vis job responsibilities of other block functionaries in coordination, supervision, and management of ICDS project; discuss with them the recent developments and thrusts in ICDS programme; share with them the need, importance and strategies for convergence of services at various levels of implementation; develop their requisite skills required for guiding grass roots level functionaries in preschool education, health & nutrition and community participation; and equip them with knowledge for effective leadership, supportive supervision and management of ICDS Projects. At present, twenty-nine participants are attending the course.
  • Vertical Training Programme of Block Level ICDS Functionaries for Quality Improvement in ICDS Programme was organised by Regional Centre, Indore at Gujarat from 16-20 January, 2017 with the main objectives to: enhance the skills of CDPOs and Supervisors to act as a master trainer for providing continuing education to AWWs at project level; provide inputs to improve knowledge and skills of all ICDS functionaries at project level for quality improvement in ICDS Services; and formulate joint action plan at project level for quality improvement of delivery of ICDS services. Thirty-seven participants attended the training programme.
  • Orientation Workshop for Members of JJBs was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 17-18 January 2017 with the main objectives to: sensitize and orient participants to the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act 2015; create clarity and understanding of the roles and responsibilities of members of JJBs and different personnel involved in the implementation of the Act; facilitate sharing of best practices for strengthening implementation of the Juvenile Justice Act; provide an overview of Integrated Child Protection Scheme (ICPS) learn the role of different stakeholders as provided in the Act; create an understanding of the concept of rehabilitation and social reintegration and to enable effective assessment of options; and facilitate the speedy disposal of cases. Eleven participants attended the workshop.
  • Skill Training on Preparation of Teaching Learning Materials (TLMs)/Teaching Aids for Instructors of AWTCs/MLTCs was organised by Regional Centre, Indore from 17-19 January, 2017 with the main objectives to: sensitize MLC/AWTC Instructors on importance of TLM in the Early Childhood Care and Development of Children; provide hands on experience on preparing TLM which is appropriate to foster holistic development of children; and sensitize participants on the values of preparing TLM which are prepared low cost/no cost culturally available resources. Thirty-eight participants attended the skill training programme.
  • Skill Training on New MIS for ICDS Officials and Trainers was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 18-20 January 2017 with the main objectives to: appraise the participants about the concept and significance of Management Information System in ICDS; orient the participants about the new Management Information System (MIS) in ICDS scheme; and guide the participants about utilization of MPR data in ICDS. Thirteen participants attended the skill training programme.
  • Workshop on Safety and Security of Girls in Schools was organised by Headquarters from 19-20 January, 2017 with the main objectives to: sensitize the participants on safety and security of school going girls; share government and non-government initiatives for safety of schools girls; discuss the role of stakeholders in prevention of violence and protection of school going girls; and evolve strategies and interventions for ensuring safety of school going girls. Thirty- three participants attended the workshop.
  • Orientation Workshop for Chairpersons and Members of CWCs was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 19-20 January 2017 with the main objectives to: develop understanding among the participants on the situation of children in India and challenges faced by children for their holistic development; sensitize and orient participants to the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act 2015 and JJ rules 2016; orient the participants about the functioning of CWCs and the role and responsibilities of Chairperson and Members of CWCs; create an understanding of the concept of rehabilitation and social reintegration and to enable effective assessment of options and; discuss relevance of non-institutional Services under the Act to facilitate effective rehabilitation & social reintegration of children including difficulties faced by them; learn the role of different stakeholders as provided in the Act; and understand the mechanisms for speedy disposal of cases. Thirty-one participants attended the workshop.
  • Parental workshop on Adolescents of today and need for parental support in building their future was organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati on 23 January, 2017 with the main objectives to: develop an understanding about the needs of adolescents and holistic developments of adolescent children; and help parents to help their children to cope with the physical, emotional and mental changes during this period for optimum development. Sixty-three participants attended the workshop.
  • Orientation Programme on Identification and Management of Behavioral Problems of Children for Functionaries of CCIs was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 23-25 January 2017 with the main objectives to: sensitize the participants on psycho social needs of children and satiation; orient the role of Superintendents of Child Care Institutions; know about the ICPS Structure, Policies and Acts; sensitize the participants about functions of Child Care Institutions; and facilitate adequate understanding about the needs and the behavior problems of children. Twelve participants attended the programme.
  • Orientation Programme for District level Officers of ICDS on Child Care and Protection was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 23-25 January 2017 with the main objectives to: orient the participants on constitutional/legal provision and issues relating to the development, care and protection of children; orient the participants on various policies and programme initiatives of Government relating to children; and discuss their role in accelerating the development process with regard to children. Twenty-five participants attended the programme.
  • Skill Training Programme on Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) for School Psychologists and Counselors was organised by Regional Centre, Indore from 23-25 January 2017 with the main objectives to: discuss different school of thoughts on Behaviour models of human nature; share cognitive behaviourstic models and techniques and their use; and orient on CBT skills coping strategies at the time of crisis in continuing life. Fifty-four participants attended the skill training programme.
  • Training Programme on Juvenile Justice Act 2015 for Chairpersons and Members of Child Welfare Committee of Haryana was organised by Headquarters from 30-31 January, 2017 with the main objectives to: orient the participants about Juvenile Justice Act 2015 and its Rules 2016; make them understand about their role and responsibilities under the Act and Rules; and develop strategies for effective implementation of Act at District level. Twenty-seven participants attended the training programme.
  • Orientation Training Programme on Legal Procedures for Officers dealing with Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005 was organised by Headquarters from 30 January to 01 February, 2017 with the main objectives to: orient the participants on various provisions of Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act (PWDA), 2005; develop insight on the roles and responsibilities of various stakeholders including POs. Service Providers, Police Personnel etc.; enhance understanding on inter-agency response system for effective implementation of the Act; and formulate strategies for effective implementation of the PWDV Act. Twenty-nine participants attended the training programme.

  • Training Programme on Management of AWCs Cum Crèche for ICDS Functionaries was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 1-3 February 2017 with the main objectives to: sensitize the participants about the need and importance of day care crèches at AWCs; appraise them about services rendered in AWC Cum Crèches; and orient them on management of AWC cum crèches. Ten participants attended the training.
  • Workshop on Critical Issues in Implementation of JJ Act & ICPS in States for Programme Managers and Programme Officers of SCPS & SARA was organised by Headquarters from 2-3 February, 2017 with the main objectives to: provide a common platform for exchange of ideas pertaining to child protection; discuss the status of implementation of the Juvenile Justice (Care & Protection of Children) Act, 2015 and ICPS in the States; share experiences and challenges faced by Programme Managers and Programme Officers of SCPS & SARA in implementation of the JJ Act & ICPS; and come out with effective strategies for effective implementation of JJ Act & ICPS in States. Thirty-one participants attended the workshop.
  • Sensitization Programme on Prevention of Sexual Harassment at Work Place for Members of Sexual Harassment Committees was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 2-3 February 2017 with the main objectives to: sensitize participants regarding different provisions of Act; to build perspective on women friendly work environment; and appraise the modalities, mechanisms and procedure of redressal under the Prevention of Sexual Harassment Act.   • Training on Growth Monitoring and Mother and Child Protection Card Children was organised by Headquarters from 2-4 February, 2017 with the main objectives to: orient the participants to the concept of new WGHO Growth Charts and use of MCP Card; orient the participants on health and nutrition issues linked to MCP Card, its usage and implementation; and enable participants to impart meaningful training to supervisors and AWWs on new WHO Growth Chats and MPC Card. Twenty-two participants attended the training.
  • Awareness Camp on POCSO Act, 2012 for NGOs was organised by Headquarters on 6 February, 2017 with the main objectives to: apprise the participants of the salient features of the ‘Protection of Children from Sexual Offences’ (POCSO) Act and Rules 2012; orient them about the roles and responsibilities of various stakeholders in implementing the Act; and create awareness among the masses about the POCSO Act, through NGOs. Twenty-seven participants attended the camp.
  • Skill Training on Community Mobilization, Advocacy, Awareness and IEC Campaign on the issues relating to Child Development was organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati from 6-10 February 2017 with the main objectives to: orient the ICDS functionaries to the concept and importance of community mobilization, participation, advocacy, awareness and IEC campaign; improve skills of the participants in utilizing methods and techniques of motivating and mobilizing community for awareness generation and IEC campaign; and enable the participants to elicit community participation for effective implementation of ICDS programme. Forty-one participants attended the skill training.
  • Awareness Campaigns on Consumption of Foods High in Fat, Salt & Sugar (HFSS) for Young and Adolescents (Two) was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow at from 6-10 February and 18 February 2017 with the main objectives to: understand the epidemic of Childhood Obesity, aware about Balanced Diet for Infants, Children and Adolescents and know different guidelines related to food safety and consumption. In all One hundred and Seventy participants attended the campaigns.
  • Training on Management of Voluntary Organisation was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 6-10 February 2017 with the main objectives to: share the concept and relevance of voluntary action and social development in India; to orient the participants about setting up a voluntary organization, process of Institution building, administration and management; to help the participants to learn planning and designing project proposals; to orient about ways and means of resource mobilization from various sources and effective financial management; and to discuss issues related to good Governance, accountability and transparency in voluntary organizations. Thirty-one participants attended the training.
  • Orientation Program on Prevention of Trafficking of Women and Children for Functionaries Government and Voluntary Organizations was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 6-10 February 2017 with the main objectives to: share the magnitude of the problem with participants; sensitize them on legal framework and law enforcement; aware participants on role of govt. agencies vis-à-vis judiciary and NGOs; and evolve a strategy for prevention, protection and rehabilitation of women and children from trafficking. Thirty-eight participants attended the orientation programme.

  • Training of State level master Trainers (SLMTs) on Implementation of the Annual Contextualized ECCE Curriculum for J & K (Two) was organised by Headquarters at Jammu and Kashmir from 6-10 February 2017 and at Regional Centre, Lucknow from 27 February-3 March, 2017 with the main objectives to: review the implementation of Annual Contextualized ECCE Curriculum in the States; share the experiences of challenges faced by the States in implementation of the ECCE Curriculum; refresh the participants about the concept & importance of ECCE; make the participants understand about the philosophy, principles and components of the National ECCE Policy, curriculum framework and quality standards; familiarize the participants with the State specific ECE curriculum and roll out of the same in the AWCs; orient participants on the diversity issues and strategies to handle diversity in the classroom and assessment of children at AWC; develop skills of the participants to train on the execution of the daily/weekly lesson plans based on thematic approach; discuss about the possible solutions or strategies to meet the challenges and effectively roll out the annual contextualized curriculum. In all Sixty-eight participants attended the training.
  • Vertical Training Programme of Block Level ICDS Functionaries for Quality Improvement in ICDS Programme was organised by Regional Centre, Indore at Maharashtra from 6-10 February, 2017 with the main objectives to: enhance the skills of CDPOs and Supervisors to act as a master trainer for providing continuing education to AWWs at project level; provide inputs to improve knowledge and skills of all ICDS functionaries at project level for quality improvement in ICDS Services; and formulate joint action plan at project level for quality improvement of delivery of ICDS services. Thirty-six participants attended the vertical training.
  • Skill Trg. Prog. On Assessment of Child Learning Outcomes for ICDS Functionaries was organised by Regional Centre, Indore from 7-9 February, 2017 with the main objectives to: appraise the ICDS functionaries to the concept of child learning outcomes; make them understand the importance of adequate child learning outcome for better learning and development; help them to visualize the link between the quality of ECE programme and child learning outcome; and develop the skill of ICDS functionaries for assessing children’s learning. Twenty-three participants attended the skill training.
  • Workshop on POCSO Act, 2012 for CWPOS of Delhi SJPUs was organised by Headquarters from 7-8 February, 2017 with the main objectives to: enhance the knowledge of the participants about salient features of POCSO Act and Rules, 2012 and the roles and responsibilities of various stakeholders, including police therein; Discuss methods of handling cases of child sexual abuse; and Discuss the problems in the implementation of the Act and Skills to handle cases of child sexual abuse. Twenty-seven participants attended the workshop.
  • Orientation Course for CDPOs on Prevention of Malnutrition & Mortality among Women and Children of High Burden Districts was organised by Headquarters from 13-17 February, 2017 with the main objectives to: enhance the understanding of the CDPOs with regard to current situation of nutrition in the states; apprise them about the recent updates and development in the field of nutrition; equip them to draw up plans for identification and intervention programme for areas with higher incidences of malnutrition and mortality. Thirty-four participants attended the course.
  • Orientation Training Programme for DCPOs of DCPUs was organised by Regional Centre Bengaluru from 13 -17 February 2017 with the main objectives to: Help them to understand the child situation in the context of their rights; orient them to the UNCRC and constitutional safeguards for children; enable them to understand the juvenile justice system; and orient them to the main features of ICPS and their role and responsibilities in ICPS. Twelve participants attended the training.
  • Training on Project Formulation and Fund Raising Techniques for VOs was organised by Regional Centre, Indore from 13-17 February, 2017 with the main objectives to: update the participants about the project formulation techniques for development interventions; strengthen the knowledge base of participants in financial management and planning; orient the participants about fund raising techniques; and impart knowledge on internal control, accounting systems and income tax rules and procedures. Twenty-six participants attended the training.
  • Workshop on Critical Issues in dealing with Children in Need of Care and Protection for Juvenile Justice Boards (JJBs) was organised by Headquarters from 16-17 February 2017 with the main objectives to: discuss the provisions of Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015; share the situation related to children in conflict with law in the States and come out with effective strategies for implementation of JJ Act. Fifty-seven participants attended the workshop.
  • Skill Training on ECCE for Instructors of AWTCs/MLTCs was organised by Headquarters at New Delhi from 20-22 February, 2017 with the main objectives to: develop a better understanding of the concepts of early childhood years, ECD, ECCD, ECCE and linkages with one another among the trainees; make them understand the issues relating to ECCE in the light of national policy of ECCE and restructured ICDS, and enable the Instructors to impart effective training on ECCE and guide the AWWs and Supervisors for proper delivery of ECCE programme to ensure optimum early childhood development in children. Fourteen participants attended the skill training.
  • Sensitization Programme on Holistic Development of Adolescent Girls and Family Life Education for Functionaries of Voluntary Organizations was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 20-22 February, 2017 with the main objectives to: enable the participants to develop an understanding of the issues relating to adolescent health and family life education; discuss the existing strategies on adolescent health and development; enable the participants to develop skills for effective communication; and facilitate the participants to develop holistic programmes/ project proposals for adolescent development. Twenty-six participants attended the training programme.
  • Training Programme on Empowerment of Women through Micro-enterprise for Voluntary Organizations was organised by Regional Centre, Indore from 20-24 February, 2017 with the main objectives to: familiarize the Participants with the policies and programmes of women empowerment; discuss the role of voluntary organisations in empowerment of women; acquaint the participants about promoting micro enterprise for women; impart knowledge and skills in selection of viable economic activities, credit, marketing and other support services for micro enterprises; and develop capabilities on preparation of business plan for starting micro enterprise. Twenty-four participants attended the training programme.
  • Orientation Training Programme for Legal cum Probation Officers of ICPS was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 20-24 February 2017 with the main objectives to: review situation of Child Rights and Child Protection concerning India; to orient participants on Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection) at 2015 and Rules 2016; provide knowledge on adoption and foster care; discuss role and responsibilities of various stake holders of ICPS; role and responsibilities of legal cum probation officers of ICPS; and develop strategies for effective networking and coordination for implementation of ICPS. Twenty-three participants attended the training programme.
  • Regional Workshop on Prevention of LBW Babies for Officials of NHM and ICDS of Assam was organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati from 21-22 February 2017 with the main objectives to: develop an understanding about the different underlying causes of LBW among the officials of Health and ICDS; acquaint the participants to the programmes under the nodal departments to bring down LBW babies; make them understand the need of coordination and convergence between the programmes of ICDSs and Health, and enable the officials to develop a joint block/district plan of action for prevention of LBW babies. Forty-one participants attended the workshop.
  • Skill Training for ICDS Functionaries on Social and Behaviour Change Communication (SBCC) was organised by Regional Centre, Indore from 21-23 February, 2017 with the main objectives to: orient the ICDS functionaries to the principles of Social and Behaviour Change Communication and setting of communication objectives for ICDS; develop skills for effective value addition in communication process; enable trainees to develop communication materials for behaviour change; and enrich the participants develop need based model for social and behaviour change communication in their respective work places. Nineteen participants attended the skill training.
  • Orientation Training Programme for Superintendents of Child Care Institutions was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 21-23 February, 2017 with the main objectives to: orient the participants to the conceptual framework of Child Rights and Protection; enable them to understand service delivery mechanisms and legal provisions; and create an understanding of the Good Child Protection Practices including various legislations, policies and program etc. Eighteen participants attended the training.
  • Stock Taking Review Meet for Rolling Out of ECCE Curriculum was organised by Headquarters on 23 February, 2017 with the main objectives to: review the implementation of Annual Contextulaized ECCE; curriculum in the States; share the experiences of challenges faced by the States in implementation of the ECCE Curriculum; refresh the participants about the philosophy, principles and components of the National ECCE Policy, Curriculum Framework and Quality Standards; familiarize the participants with the State specific ECCE Curriculum and its roll out Plan across the States; and discuss about the possible solutions strategies to meet the challenges and effectively roll out the annual contextualized curriculum in the States.   • Orientation Course on Early Childhood Care and Development for Functionaries of VOs was organised by Headquarters from 27 Feb-3 March, 2017 with the main objectives to: orient the participants to the recent developments in early childhood care and development; orient the participants to the various critical issues related to survival, growth and development of children; and help them to acquire skills for enhancing early childhood care and development. Twenty-two participants attended the orientation course.
  • Orientation Workshop on Child Rights and Child Protection for Chairpersons and Members of CWCs was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 27 Feb-3 March, 2017 with the main objectives to: develop understanding among the participants about the situation of children in India and challenges faced by children for their holistic development; sensitize and orient participants to the juvenile justice (care and protection of children) act 2000, its amendment act 2006 and ICPS; orient the participants about the functioning, roles and responsibilities of child welfare committees; understand and facilitate mechanisms for speedy disposal of cases; discuss the efficacy of institutional & non-institutional services under the act; develop understanding of the concept of rehabilitation and social reintegration and to enable effective assessment of options in the best interest of children and; understand the role of different stakeholders as provided in the Act. Twenty-seven participants attended the workshop.

Important Activities

  • Celebration of Swachhta Pakhwada at NIPCCD Headquarters and its Regional Centres (1- 15 March, 2017). National Institute of Public Cooperation and child Development (NIPCCD) observed the Swachhta Pakhwada from 1-15, March 2017 with varied activities both at the Headquarters and its Regional Centres located at Bangalore, Guwahati, Lucknow and Indore. The faculty and staff of the Institute participated in various activities of the Pakhwada promoting the cause of Swachh Bharat. Extending its outreach, NIPCCD involved various other organizations to collaborate in this endeavor and thus made considerable contribution in achieving the mandate of MWCD in observation of Swachhta Pakhwada. The celebration of Pakhwada started with Swachhta pledge and signature campaign by all members of the Institute. Focus was also paid on cleaning the work station of employees along with weeding out old files so as to project a clean environment in the office. Sessions were delivered by competent speakers including its faculty on the need for cleanliness and actions to be initiated in maintaining sanitary measures at the level of individual, family, society and the nation. In order to promote the motivation among the employees , NIPCCD Headquarters and its Regional centres organized competitions including slogan writing, poster making, poems writing, essays writing on the theme “Swachh Bharat”. The results of these competitions were evaluated by a jury and deserving participants were given prizes which motivated them to maintain hygiene and sanitation in their work station.
  • Meeting of Executive Council & General Body (27 March, 2017) .The meeting of the Executive Council and Annual General meeting of the General Body of the Institute was held on 27th March, 2017 under chairpersonship of Ms. Leena Nair, Secretary, MWCD-cum-Vice-Chairperson. The members of Executive Council and General Body were apprised about the activities and programmes organised by the Institute during the year 2016-17. The Executive Council approved the Annual Report of the year 2015-16 and Work Plan for the year 2017-18 and discussed other important agenda items.

  • Five One day Induction Training Programmes for Functionaries of One Stop Centres were organised by Headquarters at Regional Centres, Indore and Guwahati on 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 20th and 21st March, 2017 respectively with the main objectives to: orient the participants on issues related to violence against women and constitutional and legal provisions thereof as also to enhance their knowledge and skills in providing medico-legal and psychosocial support to aggrieved women. In all, one hundred and thirteen participants attended these training programmes.
  • Orientation Programme on Prevention of Sexual Harassment at Work Place for Functionaries of Government and Voluntary Organizations was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 6-8 March, 2017 with the main objectives to: sensitize the participants on locus and manifestation of gender violence; discuss policies and legislative measures to curb atrocities against women specially at work place; analyze the problem and work out strategies for addressing the problem of sexual harassment of women at work place and discuss existing mechanisms/ support services and provide suggestions for strengthening them. Forty-one participants attended the orientation programme.
  • Orientation Training on Establishing and Managing of a Voluntary Organisation was organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati from 6-10 March, 2017 with the main objectives to: share the concept and relevance of voluntary action and social development in India; orient the participants about setting up a voluntary organization, process of institution building, administration and management; help the participants to learn planning and designing project proposals; orient about ways and means of resource mobilization from various sources and effective financial management; and discuss issues related to good governance, accountability and transparency in voluntary organizations.   • Training Programme on Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) for MLTCs/ AWTCs Instructors and DPOs/CDPOs was organised by Regional Centre, Indore from 6-9 March, 2017 with the main objectives to: enhance the technical knowledge on Infant and Young Child Feeding; build the counseling skills on exclusive breastfeeding and complementary feeding; learn growth monitoring and measuring; and practice IYCF counselling with emphasis on correct positioning, helping mothers to breast feed through clinical practice. Twenty-six participants attended the training.

Seventy-one participants attended the awareness camp.
  • Training Program on Capacity Building of Functionaries of Voluntary Organizations on Conceptualizing and Executing a Project was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 13–17 March, 2017 with the main objectives to: share the concept and relevance of voluntary action as a response to local requirement; enable the participants to develop need based project; enhance their knowledge base and skills in conceptualizing and executing a project; develop their skills in cost estimation and working out mechanisms for monitoring and sustainability of a project. Twenty-six participants attended the orientation programme.
  • Workshop on Prevention of Gender Biased Sex Selective Elimination and Female Infanticide was organised by Headquarters from 15-17 March, 2017 with the main objectives to: orient the participants about status of girl child in India with emphasis on gender biased sex selective elimination and female infanticide; sensitize the participants about the consequences of declining sex ratio and child sex ratio; familiarize the participants with various Government policies, rights, legislations and schemes related to girl child; and provide a forum to discuss and evolve strategies for prevention of gender biased sex selective elimination. Thirty-one participants attended the workshop.
  • Orientation Program for Project Coordinators of Open Shelters Under ICPS was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 15–17 March, 2017 with the main objectives to: orient the participants on JJ Act and ICPS; orient the participants on techniques of working with children who need care and protection; apprise the participants on operational modalities and management of Open Shelters; and orient participants on social reintegration of children in open shelters.   • Sensitization Programme on Prevention of Trafficking of Women and Children for PRI Members and other Stakeholders of Assam was organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati from 15-17 March, 2017 with the main objectives to: acquaint the participants to the nature, process and consequences of trafficking of women and children; make them understand their role in preventing occurrences of such incidences in their area; make them aware about the existing legal provision and support services for rescue and rehabilitation of trafficked women and children; and enable them to understand the need and importance of networking and developing linkages of the stakeholders to combat trafficking in their regions. Twenty-one participants attended the sensitization programme.
  • Regional Cross-Learning Meet on Best Practices in ICDS was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 16-17 March, 2017 with the main objectives to: identification of good practices and innovations that have been implemented within ICDS in different States and with different partners; documentation of these potential best practices for their replication and scaling up in different locations; suggest ways and system for replication of these good practices at a larger level. Twenty-two participants attended the regional meet.
  • Orientation Training Programme for Superintendents of Child Care Institutions was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 20-22 March, 2017 with the main objectives to: orient the participants to the conceptual framework of Child Rights and Protection; enable them to understand service delivery mechanisms and legal provisions; and create an understanding of the Good Child Protection Practices including various legislations, policies and program etc. Twelve participants attended the training programme.

  • Training Programme on Counselling Skills for Institutions Providing Care to Distressed Women was organised by Headquarters from 27-29 March, 2017 with the main objectives to: sensitize the participants about magnitude, causes, nature and manifestation of violence against women in India; develop understanding about the trauma faced by distressed women; provide insight on the policies, existing support services for women in distress; enhance communication and counselling skills for providing psychosocial support to distressed women; and promote networking among NGOs and institutions and legal safeguards for women in distress.   • Parental Workshop on Vulnerability of Adolescents of Today and Role of Parents was organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati on 29 March, 2017 with the main objectives to: develop an understanding about the needs of adolescents and holistic development among the parents; and enable parents to support their children to cope up with the physical, emotional and mental changes during this period for optimal development.   • Eleven One day Induction Training Programmes for Functionaries of One Stop Centre were organised by Headquarters at Regional Centres, Lucknow and Bengaluru on 3, 5, 6, 7 April, 2017 and 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 24 and 25 April, 2017 respectively, with the main objectives to: orient the participants on issues related to violence against women and constitutional and legal provisions thereof as also to enhance their knowledge and skills in providing medico-legal and psycho-social support to aggrieved women.   • Three Refresher Courses for CDPOs/ACDPOs were organised by Regional Centres Bengaluru, Indore and Headquarters from 3-7 April, 17-21 April and 24-28 April, 2017 respectively with the main objectives to: review the implementation of ICDS program in the State with regard to its various aspects; provide a forum for sharing of experiences in implementing ICDS program; appraise CDPOs/ ACDPOs about the recent developments and trends in ICDS program; update their knowledge in the areas of early childhood care and development including nutrition and health care; and sharpen their communication, counseling and managerial skills. In all Seventy-nine participants attended the courses.
  • Training on Ensuring Food Safety and Maintaining Food Safety Standards in Supplementary Nutrition in ICDS was organised by Headquarters from 5-7 April, 2017 with the main objectives to: enable the participants to develop an understanding of safe food handling practices highlighting its importance in health and nutrition wellbeing; orient the participants to the food safety measures for SNP of ICDS; get an insight into food adulteration and the laws regulating the food safety; and discuss the role of ICDS functionaries in ensuring food safety at AWCs. Thirteen participants attended the training programme.
  • Orientation Programme on Schemes/Programmes of Ministry of Women and Child Development for Functionaries of Voluntary Organizations was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 5-7 April, 2017 with the main objectives to: enhance the understanding of participants and to sensitize them about situation of women and children; apprise them about the various schemes/ programmes run by MWCD; orient them about their roles and responsibilities in implementation of schemes at grass root level. Twelve participants attended the orientation programme.
  • Workshop on POCSO Act, 2012 for School Principals and Teachers was organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati on 7 April, 2017 with the main objectives to: sensitise the participants about the sexual offences being committed against children and consequent trauma faced by them; orient them to the POCSO Act,2012 and the relevant rules; and develop an understanding of their roles and responsibilities in implementation of the Act and prevention of child sexual abuse. Thirty-three participants attended the workshop.
  • Orientation Programme on Community Mobilization, Awareness, Advocacy and IEC for Instructors of AWTCs/MLTCs was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 11-13 April, 2017 with the main objectives to: orient the participants to the concept and importance of community mobilization, participation; advocacy, awareness and IEC campaign; improve skills of the participants in methods and techniques of motivating and mobilizing community for accessing resources; and enable the participants to elicit community participation and organize awareness campaign in their initiatives for implementing ICDS programme more effectively. Thirty-six participants attended the orientation programme.
  • Awareness Camp on Life Skills Education for Parents, Teachers and Adolescents was organised by Regional Centre, Indore on 12 April, 2017 with the main objectives to: sensitize growing problems and challenges of adolescent girls; orient parents about coping with problems of adolescent girls and their management; and acquaint participants about the Life Skill Education for holistic development. Sixty-five participants attended the awareness camp.
  • Sensitisation Programme on Swachh Bharat Abhiyan for Civil Society Organizations and PRIs was organised by Regional Centre, Indore from 17-18 April, 2017 with the main objectives to: apprise participants about objectives of Swachh Bharat abhiyan; discuss role & responsibilities of voluntary organizations and PRI representatives; and sensitize participants for greater community involvement and participation in Swachh Bharat Abiyan. Thirty-eight participants attended the training programme.
  • Induction Training for the Chairpersons/Members of Child Welfare Committee (CWCs) was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 17-21 April, 2017 with the main objectives to: develop understanding among the participants about the situation of children in India and challenges faced by children for their holistic development; sensitize and orient participants to the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015 and ICPS; orient the participants about the functioning, roles and responsibilities of child welfare committees; understand and facilitate mechanisms for speedy disposal of cases; discuss the efficacy of institutional & non-institutional services under the act; develop understanding of the concept of rehabilitation and social reintegration and to enable effective assessment of options in the best interest of children;and understand the role of different stakeholders as provided in the Act. Thirty participants attended the training programme.
  • Orientation Training Programme on Child Mental Health for Teachers of Navodaya Vidyalaya was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 17-19, 2017 with the main objectives to: sensitize the participants on issues related to child mental health; familiarize the participants with the learning and behavioral problems of children; develop their skills in identification of these problems; and enable the participants to develop a strategy for seeking timely intervention for children from specialized agencies.   • Orientation Programme on Combating Violence against Women for Functionaries of Government and Voluntary Organizations was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 17-21 April, 2017 with the main objectives to: enable the participants to develop clear perspective of domestic and gender based violence, its causes, manifestations and consequences; discuss sexual violence and trafficking of women and girls; enable them to acquire knowledge of legislation for social protection; workout community-based and institutional strategies for combating gender based violence and provide a forum for sharing the experiences of participants working on gender based violence. Fifty-two participants attended the orientation programme.
  • Vertical Training Programme of Block Level ICDS Functionaries for Quality Improvement in ICDS Programme was organised by Headquarters at Haryana from 17-21 April, 2017 with the main objectives to: enhance the skills of CDPOs and Supervisors to act as a Master Trainer for providing continuing education to AWWs at project level; provide inputs to improve knowledge and skills of all ICDS functionaries at project level for quality improvement in ICDS services; and work jointly and formulate joint action plan at project level for quality improvement of delivery of ICDS services. Forty-five participants attended the training programme.
  • Skill Training on New MIS & use of MCP Card for Instructors of AWTCs & MLTCs was organised by Headquarters from 17-21 April, 2017 with the main objectives to: orient the participants to the concept of New MIS and Use of MCP card; familiarize the participants with issues relating to MIS related procedures, activities; health and nutrition issues linked to MCP card its usage and implementation; and enable participants to impart meaningful trainings to the Supervisors and AWWs on new MIS and MCP Card. Eighteen participants attended the training programme.

  • Sensitization Training Programme on Japanese Encephalitis/Acute Encephalitis Syndrome for ICDS Functionaries was organised by Headquarters at Regional Centre, Lucknow from 20-22 April, 2017 with the main objectives to: discuss the major causes, signs and symptoms, prevention and management of JE/AES; prepare action plans and micro planning procedures or combating JE/AES at various levels; apprise the participants about the new initiates of the MWCD; and discuss role and responsibilities of ICDS functionaries in prevention of JE/AES through community based management of underweight children and use of Mother and Child Protection Card as a tracking and preventive tool. Twenty-one participants attended the training programme.
  • Training of Trainers on Prevention and Management of Malnutrition among Women and Children was organized by Headquarters in collaboration with Department of Women and Child Development, Govt. of Haryana from 20-22 April, 2017 with the main objectives to: provide training and capacity building of ICDS functionaries including DPOs, CDPOs and supervisors and senior officials dealing on the project of malnutrition in Panchkula and Mahendergarh district of Haryana.   • Orientation Workshop for Chairpersons & Members of CWCs was organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati from 24-25 April, 2017 with the main objectives to: orient the Chairpersons/ CWC Members to JJ Act, 2015 vis-vis ICPS; discuss the roles and responsibilities of Chairpersons/ Members of CWC; create an understanding of rehabilitation and social reintegration; discuss Institutional and Non-Institutional services under JJ Act; and deliberate the mechanisms for speedy disposal of cases. Thirty-two participants attended the workshop.
  • Vertical Training Programme for Block Level ICDS Functionaries on Nutritional Care and Counselling was organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati at Sikkim from 24-28 April, 2017 with the main objectives to: orient the ICDS functionaries to the recent initiatives on nutrition component of restructured ICDS; equip the functionaries with the skill in counseling on maternal and child nutrition; enable the functionaries to organize Sneha Shivir for the underweight children; and enable them to supervise nutrition component of ICDS effectively and help the functionaries in developing strategies for improvement of health and nutritional status of women and children. Thirty-nine participants attended the training programme.
  • Induction Training for The Members of Juvenile Justice Boards (JJBs) was organised by Headquarters at Regional Centre, Lucknow from 24-28 April, 2017 with the main objectives to: make participants aware about the situation of Children in UP and India in context of Child Rights; to orient the participant about Juvenile Justice (Care & Protection) Act, 2015 and Rule 2016 and various legislations and policies concerning to children; discuss role and responsibilities of JJB and other stakeholders under ICPS; enhance understanding on various psycho-social and emotional aspects of children; and develop strategies for effective implementation of Juvenile Justice (Care & Protection ) Act, 2015 and Rules 2016. Twenty-seven participants attended the training programme.
  • Training on Child Rights and Child Protections for the Protection Officers of DCPUs) was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 24-28 April, 2017 with the main objectives to: sensitize the participants with the issue of child rights and protection in the Indian context; enable the participants to develop understanding on various issues concerning children in need of care and protection and in conflict with law, the existing juvenile justice system and the prevailing laws concerning children; develop understanding on various issues concerning juveniles in conflict with law, the existing juvenile justice system and the prevailing legislation to address these issues; orient the features of ICPS, its components and the role of various stakeholders under the JJ system and ICPS and their inter-linkages; discuss the role of legal cum probation officers in implementation of ICPS under DCPU; understand the role of different stakeholders as provided in the Act; and equip the participants for formulating the action plan for co-ordination with the allied department and agencies. Seventeen participants attended the training programme.
  • Parent Workshop on ‘Play-Way Method of Teaching Children adopted at the CCC’ including ‘Awareness Programme on Prevention of Common Childhood Illness’ was organised by Headquarters on 25 April, 2017 with the main objectives to: facilitate in orienting the parents of children attending the CCC to the play-way method of teaching/learning children adopted at the CCC, as also create awareness about the diseases that are common during the summer and monsoon months viz, malaria, dengue, chikunguniya, diarrhea, etc. Seventeen parents/mother participated in the parent workshop.
  • Orientation Programme for Social Workers and Counsellors of DCPUs was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 25-27 April, 2017 with the main objectives to: orient the participant on Child Rights issue related to their protections; orient on them on their superintendents of Child Care Institution; know about the ICPS Structure, Policies and Acts; sensitize the functions the functions of Child Care Institutions; and facilitate adequate understanding about the needs and the psychological problems of children. Thirty-five participants attended the orientation programme.

  • Sensitization Programme on Beti Bachao & Beti Padhao for Functionaries of Voluntary Organizations was organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati at from 27-28 April, 2017 with the main objectives to: sensitize the representatives of NGOs to prevent gender biased sex selective elimination, existing Legislations and Acts; make the participants aware about existing rights of the girl child and constitutional provisions; with stringent punishments for violations of laws; orient about ways and means of ensure survival, education, participation & protection of the girl child ; and enable them to mobilize the community people for improvement in the child sex ratio (CSR). Twenty-four participants attended the training programme.
  • Sensitisation Programme for School Officials of Western States on Mental Health of Children was organised by Regional Centre, Indore from 27-28 April, 2017 with the main objectives to: help the school officials to understand the concept of mental health and their implications on children; familiarize the principals with the various mental health issues children face; and acquaint them with various intervention strategies to be adopted for managing mental health of children.   • Job Training Course for CDPOs/ACDPOs was organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati from 1-31 May, 2017 with the main objectives to: orient the CDPOs/ACDPOs about ICDS programme; inform them about the status of women and children in the country and policies and programmes for their welfare and development; apprise them about the latest development/trends in ICDS programme; discuss the job responsibilities of ICDS functionaries vis-a-vis other functionaries and their role in effective delivery of services and equip the participants with the requisite skills to deliver services under ICDS programme; and develop the managerial and administrative skills of CDPOs/ACDPOs. Eighteen participants attended the job training course.
  • Orientation Programme on the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 2-4 May, 2017 with the main objectives to: orient the participants to the provisions of the Sexual Harassment Act and Rules; discuss the measures to be undertaken by organizations for a safe and harassment free work place as provided in the SHA and its Rules; discuss the recent amendments of CCS Rules in line with SHA and its Rules; help the participants understand the modalities, functions, mechanisms and procedures of Sexual Harassment Committee; and develop perspective for evolving and maintaining women friendly work places.   • Orientation Training Programme for Legal cum Probation Officers and Probation Officers (DCPU) and Probation Officers of CCIs was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 3-5 May, 2017 with the main objectives to: orient the participants to the concept and importance of community mobilization, participation; advocacy, awareness and IEC campaign; improve skills of the participants in methods and techniques of motivating and mobilizing community for accessing resources; and enable the participants to elicit community participation and organize awareness campaign in their initiatives for implementing ICDS programme more effectively.   • Parental workshop on “Adolescents of today and Need of Parental Support in Building their Future” was organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati on 6 May, 2017 with the main objectives to: develop an understanding about the needs and holistic development of the adolescent children; and help parents to help their children to cope up with the physical, emotional and mental changes during this period for optimum development. One hundred and four participants attended the workshop.
  • Three one day Induction Training Programmes for Functionaries of One Stop Centre were organised by Headquarters on 08th, 09th and 11th May, 2017 with the main objectives to: orient the participants on issues related to violence against women and constitutional and legal provisions thereof as also to enhance their knowledge and skills in providing medico-legal and psychosocial support to aggrieved women. In all, seventy five participants attended these induction training programmes.
  • Sensitization Programme on Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act 2012 was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 8-9 May, 2017 with the main objectives to: enhance the knowledge of the participants about salient features of POCSO Act, 2012; develop an understanding of their role in implementation of the Act; enable them to understand and contextualize the rights of children; orient them about the ways to communicate with children about sexuality; discuss with them about the ways and means to develop a strong system of initiating action against abusers in case of abuse; and monitor preventive measures in educational institutions.   • Orientation on Implementation of ‘Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005’ for Functionaries of Government and Voluntary Organizations was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 16-18 May, 2017 with the main objectives to: sensitize the participants on locus and manifestation of gender violence; discuss policies and legislative measures to curb atrocities against women specially on domestic violence; analyze the problem and work out strategies for addressing the problem of domestic violence of women; and discuss existing mechanisms/ support services and offer suggestions towards strengthening them.   • Orientation Programme on IYCF Intervention for Prevention of Malnutrition in Children for Instructors of AWTCs/MLTCs was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 22-24 May, 2017 with the main objectives to: orient the participants about the importance of IYCF in promoting good health of children; discuss the counselling techniques of IYCF for prevention of malnutrition in children; and enhance the skill on the usage of Growth Chart and MCP Card for improving the nutritional and health status of children. Thirty seven participants attended the training programme.
  • Capacity Building Programme for School Counsellors of Bhutan was organised by Headquarters from 18-19 May, 2017 with the main objectives to: discuss methods, types, techniques and processes of counselling; fine tune micro skills of counselling amongst the participants; enhance information of the participants on supportive approaches to counselling; and equip participants to effectively handle emotional fatigue. Eighteen participants attended the training programme.
  • Orientation Programme on Empowerment of Adolescent Girls was organised by Headquarters from 22-25 May, 2017 the main objectives to: orient the participants about status of children, especially adolescents in India; develop an understanding about gender discrimination and its implications on overall development and empowerment needs of adolescent girls; apprise the participants about various government policies, programmes, legislations and initiatives for holistic development of adolescent girls; and evolve strategies for empowerment of adolescent girls involving different stakeholders. Thirty seven participants attended the training programme.
  • Orientation Training for the Instructors of AWTCs/MLTCs was organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati from 22-26 May, 2017 with the main objectives to: apprise the Instructors about ICDS programme and its services and issues related to early childhood care and development including child health, nutrition and education; build up their communication, training and counseling skills; enable them to systematically plan and organize training programmes; and familiarize them with the training syllabi of ICDS functionaries and trainers. Thirty six participants attended the training programme.
  • Skill Training for ICDS Functionaries on Social and Behaviour Change Communication (SBCC) was organised by Headquarters from 22–26 May, 2017 with the main objectives to: orient the ICDS functionaries to the principles of Social and Behaviour Change Communication and setting of communication objectives for ICDS; develop skills for effective value addition in communication process; enable trainees to develop communication materials for behaviour change; and enrich the participants develop need based model for social and behaviour change communication in their respective work places. Twenty seven participants attended the skill training programme.
  • Training on Project Formulation and Fund Raising Techniques for VOs was organised by Regional Centre, Indore from 22-26 May, 2017 with the main objectives to: update the participants about the project formulation techniques for development interventions; strengthen the knowledge base of participants in financial management and planning; orient the participants about fund raising techniques; and impart knowledge on internal control, accounting systems and income tax rules and procedures. Sixteen participants attended the training programme.

  • Workshop on POCSO Act, 2012 for Police Officials of Northern States was organised by Headquarters on 26 May, 2017 with the main objectives to: enhance the knowledge of the participants about salient features of POCSO Act and Rules, 2012 including role of implementing agencies to protect child rights; sensitize the participants about the sexual offences being committed against children and consequent trauma faced by them; and discuss about problems in the implementation of the Act and Skills to handle cases of child sexual abuse. Thirty nine participants attended the workshop.
  • Orientation Course on Social and Behaviour Change Communication(SBCC) for Instructors of MLTCs/AWTCs was organised by Headquarters from 29-31 May, 2017 with the main objectives to: enhance the knowledge on the principles of Social and Behaviour Change Communication and setting of communication objectives for ICDS; enhance understanding related to strategic shifts in SBCC and the basic steps in conducting a perceptions study; explain and apply the SBCC planning process for developing a strategic communication; and enhance understanding of principles of monitoring and evaluation process to assess effectiveness of communication and application of the same to ICDS. Twenty eight participants attended the orientation course.
  • Training on Capacity Building of Women through Leadership Development was organised by Headquarters from 29-31 May, 2017 with the main objectives to: orient the participants about evolution of leadership and its relevance for women; discuss the scope and existing mechanism that foster leadership development among women; understand the role of change agents in developing skills and capacities of women for taking up leadership roles; and promote networking and partnership among organizations working for capacity building of women.   • Training Programme on Early Childhood Care and Education for Instructors of AWTCs/MLTCs was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 29-31 May, 2017 with the main objectives to: orient the participants to the needs of children; sensitize the participants to the ECCE policy; discuss the new curriculum framework for ECCE; exposure to the child friendly environment in ECCE centres and appraise the participants to the minimum standard for ECCE centres.   • Induction Training for the Chairpersons/Members of Child Welfare Committee (CWCs) was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 29 May to 2 June, 2017 with the main objectives to: develop understanding among the participants about the situation of children in India and challenges faced by children for their holistic development; sensitize and orient participants to the juvenile justice (care and protection of children) act 2015, its Rules, 2016; orient the participants about the functioning, roles and responsibilities of child welfare committees; understand and facilitate mechanisms for speedy disposal of cases; discuss the efficacy of institutional & non-institutional services under the act; develop understanding of the concept of rehabilitation and social reintegration and to enable effective assessment of options in the best interest of children and; understand the role of different stakeholders as provided in the Act. Twenty-nine participants attended the training programme.
  • Skill Training on Identification of Problems and Promotion of Cognitive Development in Early Childhood years for ICDS Officials and Civil Society Organizations was organised by Regional Centre, Indore from 29-31 May, 2017 with the main objectives to: sensitize participants about growing importance of cognitive development among early childhood children; orient them about factors affecting cognitive development with emphasis on heredity, nutrition, health, school and home environment; and develop strategies for promoting cognitive development during early childhood years.   • Orientation Training on Programmes/ Schemes of Ministry of Women and Child Development, Govt. of India for the Functionaries of Voluntary Organizations was organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati from 5-7 June, 2017 with the main objectives to: share the concept and relevance of voluntary action in the programme/Scheme of women and child development; orient the participants about programme/Scheme for women and child development and existing pattern, process and procedure of Grant-in- Aid; develop skills in conceptualizing and executing a project in context of the government schemes; and enhance the knowledge in cost estimation and working out mechanisms for monitoring, evaluation and sustainability of a project.   • Orientation Programme on Gender Equality and Empowerment of women was organised by Headquarters from 5-8 June, 2017 with the main objectives to: develop clear perspective about basic gender concepts and gender equality; enhance the understanding of the participants on various aspects of women’s empowerment including social, economic, political, legal empowerment etc; apprise them about the policies and programmes of Government for women empowerment; and provide knowledge and skills on mainstreaming gender in development programmes to enlarge the scope of women empowerment and gender equality.   • Second Phase Training of Rajasthan State Level Master Trainers (SLMTs) on Implementation of the Annual Contextualized ECCE Curriculum was organised by Headquarters from 5-9 June, 2017 with the main objectives to: review the implementation of Annual Contextualized ECCE curriculum in the States; share the experiences of challenges faced by the States in implementation of the ECCE Curriculum; refresh the participants about the concept & importance of ECCE; make the participants understand about the philosophy, principles and components of the National ECCE Policy, curriculum framework and quality standards; familiarize the participants with the State specific ECE curriculum and roll out of the same in the AWCs; orient participants on the diversity issues and strategies to handle diversity in the classroom and assessment of children at AWC; develop skills of the participants to train on the execution of the daily/weekly lesson plans based on thematic approach; discuss about the possible solutions or strategies teet the challenges and effectively roll out the annual contextualized curriculum.   • Induction Training for The Members of the Juvenile Justice Boards (JJBs) was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 5-9 June, 2017 with the main objectives to: make participants aware about the situation of children in UP and India in context of Child Rights; orient the participant about Juvenile Justice (Care & Protection) Act, 2015 and Rules 2016 and various legislation and policies concerning to children; discuss role and responsibilities of JJB and other stakeholders under ICPS; enhance understanding on various psycho-social and emotional aspects of children; and develop strategies for effective implementation of Juvenile Justice (Care & Protection) Act, 2015 and Rules 2016. Twenty-five participants attended the training programme.
  • Four Vertical Training Programmes of Block Level ICDS Functionaries for Quality Improvement in ICDS Programme were organised by Headquarters from 5-9 June, 2017, Regional Centre, Lucknow at Gorakhpur from 12-16 June, 2017 and Regional Centre, Indore at Ujjain and Gujarat from 5-9 June, 2017 with the main objectives to: enhance the skills of CDPOs and Supervisors to act as a master Trainer for providing continuing education to AWWs at project level; provide inputs to improve knowledge and skills of all ICDS functionaries at project level for quality improvement in ICDS Services; and work jointly and formulate joint action plan at project level for quality improvement of delivery of ICDS services. Forty-seven participants attended the vertical training. In all, one hundred & sixty-seven participants attended the training programme.
  • Job Training Course for CDPOs/ACDPO was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 5 June - 5 July, 2017 with the main objectives to: orient the CDPOs/ACDPOs to various components of ICDS scheme; enable them to understand their own role, as well as the roles and responsibilities of other functionaries of the scheme; equip them with adequate knowledge and skills for providing the job training to peripheral workers of the scheme; facilitate them to develop skill necessary for administration and management on the ICDS scheme. Thirty participants attended the training programme.
  • Orientation Course for Functionaries of Voluntary Organisations on Monitoring and Evaluation of Developmental Programmes for Women and Children was organised by Headquarters from 12-16 June, 2017 with the main objectives to: orient the participants to the concept and importance of Monitoring and Evaluation in Social Development Programmes; apprise the participants to the latest methods/techniques of monitoring and evaluation of the programmes; and enhance the skills of participants for quality monitoring and supervision of women and child development programmes.   • Orientation Training Programme on Counselling for Social Workers and counsellors of CCIs and DCPUs was organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati from 12-16 June, 2017 with the main objectives to: make the participants aware regarding the ethics in counseling and in providing necessary relief to the children in need of care and protection, and CCIs traumatized children; enable them to develop communication skills required in counseling process; acquaint them to various techniques of counseling for their use in their work situations; and orient the participants to definition, principles, elements and stages of counseling. Forty participants attended the training programme.

  • Swachh Evam Swasth Bachpan was organised by Headquarters from 13-14 June, 2017 with the main objectives to: develop insight of participants regarding assessment of nutritional status of children along with practical session on growth monitoring weighing and plotting of children; apprise the participants regarding Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan and Bal Swachhta Mission; highlight the importance of Infant Young Child Feeding Practices for the survival, growth and development of children; and apprise the participants regarding management of underweight children and to equip the trainees with the skills to organise mother’s meeting for educating about healthy child care practices. Nineteen participants attended the training programme.
  • Sensitization Programme on Family based Interventions: Empowering Families with Children with Learning Disability and Autism Spectrum Disorder was organised by Headquarters from 19-23 June, 2017 with the main objectives to: enable the participants to understand the challenges of family with children having developmental disorders; orient the participants to effective assessment and counseling procedures to enable families to gain constructive perspective about the child and the disorder; critically apprise them with the strategies to empower families to identify and nurture strengths of the child; and orient the families to the supportive interventions that strengthens resilience of the family unit through family support activities. Fifteen participants attended the training programme.
  • Refresher Course for CDPOs/ACDPOs was organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati from 19-23 June, 2017 with the main objectives to: review the implementation of restructured & strengthened ICDS programme in the State with regard to its various aspects; provide a forum for sharing q of experiences in implementing ICDS programme; apprise CDPOs/ ACDPOs about the recent developments and trends in ICDS programme; update their knowledge in the areas of early childhood care and development including nutrition and health care; and sharpen their communication, counseling and managerial skills. Twenty-three participants attended the refresher course.

  • Workshop on Combating Violence Against Women and Girls was organised by Headquarters from 20-22 June, 2017 with the main objectives to: develop clear perspective among participants about gender based violence; provide insight on the policies, existing support services and legal safeguards for women and girls to curb the problem; provide a forum for sharing best practices to provide services to survivors of violence including counselling, livelihood and rehabilitation; and evolve strategies for combating violence against women and children. Thirty-six participants attended the workshop.
  • Workshop on Fund Raising and Mobilising Community Resources for Functionaries of Voluntary Organisations was organized by Headquarters 28-30 June, 2017 with the main objectives to: acquaint the participants to fund raising know how and techniques; develop awareness to adopt the techniques related to sustainable alternatives for effective programme implementation of the community level; discuss with them strategies to build up strong and meaningful partnership; and discuss mechanisms for internal controls and skills for effective management of funds and assets. Twenty-six participants attended the workshop.
  • Orientation programme on Holistic Developments of the Adolescents for NGOs and Schools Functioning in Tea Garden Areas was organized by Regional Centre, Guwahati from 28-30 June, 2017 with the main objectives to: develop clear perspective of the participants to the socio-economic condition of the people living in Tea Gardens in general and of the adolescents in particular; orient them about physical and psychological changes and challenges of adolescents; appraise the participants to educational, reproductive, health and nutritional issues of adolescents; and sensitize them about their role and need/ or convergence of services for healthy development of adolescents in tea garden areas.   • Sensitization Programme for Members of SJPUs and Probation Officers on J.J. System and ICPS was organized by Regional Centre, Indore from 28-30 June, 2017 with the main objectives to: orient the participants on UNCRC and Constitutional safeguards for children; enable them to develop an understanding of the Juvenile Justice System; create clarity and understanding of their roles and responsibilities in the implementation of the Act; and ensure speedy disposal of cases and orient them to the main features of ICPS: its components and approaches. Fifty-six participants attended the training programme.
  • Workshop for Members of Juvenile Justice Boards was organized by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 29-30 June, 2017 with the main objectives to: sensitize and orient participants to the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act 2015 vis-à-vis ICPS; develop clarity and understanding of the roles and responsibilities of members of JJBs and different personnel involved in the implementation of the Act; facilitate sharing of best practices for strengthening implementation of the Juvenile Justice Act; provide an overview of Integrated Child Protection Scheme (ICPS); understand the role of different stakeholders as provided in the Act; create an understanding of the concept of rehabilitation and social reintegration and to enable effective assessment of options; and deliberate means of facilitate the speedy disposal of cases.   • Parental Workshop on Various Academic and Psychosocial Issues of Children was organised by Regional Centre, Indore on 7 July, 2017 with the main objectives to: sensitize parents about various psychosocial issues children, face; make parents familiar with the nature of various problems in children; and develop parent’s skill to play an active role in helping children to deal effectively with the various problems children, face.   • Orientation Course on the Care of Children Under-Two for Functionaries of Voluntary Organizations running Government Programmes was organised by Headquarters from 10-14 July, 2017 with the main objective to: orient the participants on issues relating to health, nutrition and psycho-social development of children under-two.   • Training on Programmes Related to Women and Children for Functionaries of Government and Voluntary Organizations was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 10-14 July, 2017 with the main objectives to: orient participants about programmes and schemes related to women and children; and enable the participants about procedures/guidelines for getting financial assistance from Government.   • Orientation Course on Management of Children Home/Child Care Institutions for Functionaries of Child Care Institutions was organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati from 12-14 July, 2017 with the main objectives to: enable the participants to develop adequate understanding of various aspects of management of Child Care Institutions; sensitize them to developmentally appropriate early childhood care and development services particularly in relation to children in need of care and protection; facilitate them to develop viable strategies to render quality care to institutionalized children; and evolve strategies for qualitative assessment of the services provided to children in the child care institution.   • Orientation Training for ICDS Officials and Trainers on Early Detection, Prevention and Management of Children with Special Needs was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 12-14 July, 2017 with the main objectives to: orient the participants on various types of disabilities and its definitions; discuss on various guideline / legislations / schemes for children with special needs; develop competency among participants for screening and identification of children with special needs at AWCs; build competencies of participants to manage diverse needs of children with special needs; and develop strategies for inclusion of children with special need.   • Training on Ensuring Food Safety and Maintaining Food Safety Standards in Supplementary Nutrition in ICDS was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 18-20 July, 2017 with the main objectives to: enable the participants to develop an understanding of safe food handling practices highlighting its importance in health and nutrition wellbeing; orient the participants to the food safety measures for SNP of ICDS; get an insight into food adulteration and the laws regulating the food safety; and discuss the role of ICDS functionaries in ensuring food safety at AWCs. Fifteen participants attended the training programme.
  • Workshop for Police Officers on Critical Issues in Dealing with Victims of Child Sexual Abuse) was organised by Headquarters from 20-21 July, 2017 with the main objectives to: review the handling of cases registered under POCSO Act, 2012; discuss field level problems in cases under POCSO Act, 2012 and evolving solutions thereafter; and strategies for effective coordination between police and other agencies implementing POCSO Act, 2012. Twenty-four participants attended the workshop.
  • Two Job Training Course for CDPOs/ ACDPOs were organised by Regional Centres, Bengaluru and Indore from 24 July – 23 August, 2017 with the main objectives to: orient the CDPOs/ACDPOs to various components of ICDS scheme enable them to understand their own role, as well as the roles and responsibilities of other functionaries of the scheme; equip them with adequate knowledge and skills for providing the job training to peripheral workers of the scheme; and facilitate them to develop skill necessary for administration and management on the ICDS scheme.   • Orientation Programme on Counselling Skills for Institutions Providing Care to Distressed Women was organised by Headquarters from 24-26 July, 2017 with the main objectives to: sensitize the participants about magnitude, causes, nature and manifestation of violence against women in India and develop an understanding about the trauma faced by them; provide an insight on the policies, existing support services for women in distress and enhance communication and counselling skills for providing psycho-social support to distressed women; and promote networking among NGOs and institutions and legal safeguards for women in distress. Twenty-three participants attended the orientation programme.
  • Sensitization programme on Prevention of Child Labour for officials of Education Department and Voluntary Organizations was organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati from 24-26 July, 2017 with the main objectives to: sensitize the officials of Education Department and Representatives of NGOs to the problem of child labour; make the participants aware about existing policies and legislative measures and programmes pertaining to protection of interest of working children; and enable them to identify the high risk children and draw out need- based contextual planning to ensure education. Twenty-Four participants attended the orientation programme.
  • Sensitization Training Programme on Corporate Social Responsibility for Civil Society Organizations was organised by Regional Centre, Indore from 24 -26 July, 2017 with the main objectives to: sensitize participants about objectives and domain of CSR funding; and provide a forum for better understanding and coordination between NGOs and corporate houses. Fifty participants attended the programme.
  • Sensitization Programme on Prevention of Sexual Harassment at Work Place for Members of Sexual Harassment Committees was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 25-26 July, 2017 with the main objectives to: sensitize participants regarding different provisions of Act; build perspective on women friendly work environment; and appraise the modalities, mechanisms and procedure of redressal under the Prevention of Sexual Harassment Act. Thirty-four participants attended the sensitization programme.
  • Sensitization Programme on Prevention of Trafficking of Women and Children for Officials of Police, Panchayati Raj Department and NGOs was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 27 - 28 July, 2017 with the main objectives to: acquaint the participants to the nature, process, magnitude and consequences of trafficking of women and children; make them understand their role in preventing occurrences of such incidences in their area; make them aware about the existing legal provision and support services for rescue and rehabilitation of trafficked women and children; and enable them to understand the need and importance of networking and developing linkages of the stakeholders to combat trafficking in their regions. Twenty-three participants attended the sensitization programme.
  • Orientation Course for CDPOs and Officials of NRCs on Prevention of Malnutrition and Mortality among Women and Children of High Burdened Districts was organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati from 31 July - 4 August, 2017 with the main objectives to: enable the officials of ICDS and NRC to develop a clear understanding about the issues of infant/ child and maternal malnutrition and mortality; help them to appreciate the association between malnutrition and maternal and child morbidity and mortality; enable the participants to draw up plans for identification and intervention programme for areas with higher incidences of malnutrition and mortality; and work jointly to bring in effective convergence and coordination between the two departments i.e. ICDS and NRCs to prevent malnutrition and mortality among women and children.   • Orientation Training Programme on Child Rights and Child Protection for District Child Protection Officers and Functionaries of District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) was organised by Regional Centre, Indore from 31 July- 4 August, 2017 with the main objectives to: provide in depth understanding of ICPS programme framework and the respective roles and responsibilities of District Child Protection Unit; orient the participants about the conceptual framework of Child Rights and Protection; unable them to understand service delivery mechanisms and legal provisions; create an understanding of the Good Child Protection Practices including various legislations, policies and programmes etc.; and facilitate them in effectively discharging their duties. Regular Training Programmes

  • Orientation Training programme for Superintendents and Protection Officers (DCPUs) on Nutrition & Health Care of Children in CCIs was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 2-3 August, 2017 with the main objectives to: orient the participants about the nutritional issues concerning to children; enhance the understanding of superintendent of CCIs on basics of nutrition, malnutrition, micronutrient deficiencies and childhood illnesses etc.; and equip the participants for formulating strategies to curb malnutrition among children in child care institutions. Fifteen participants attended the training programme.
  • Sensitization Programme on Prevention of Sexual Harassment of Women at Work Place was organised by Regional Centre, Indore from 2-3 August, 2017 with the main objectives to: sensitise the participants on locus and manifestation of gender violence; discuss policies and legislative measures to curb atrocities against women specially at work place; analyze the problem and work out strategies for addressing the problem of sexual harassment of women at work place; and discuss existing mechanisms/ support services and provide suggestions for strengthening them. Fifteen participants attended the sensitization programme.
  • Master Trainers Workshop on Documentation in Integrated Child Protection Scheme for ICPS Functionaries was organized by Headquarters from 2-4 August, 2017 with the main objectives to: sensitize the participants to the significance of documentation in the functioning of various ICPS structures; discuss with them about different forms of documentation that are required in ICPS; and familiarize them with various documentation techniques that are required for maintaining various forms of documentation. Twenty-two participants attended the workshop.
  • Workshop on Prevention of Gender Biased Sex Selective Elimination and Female Infanticide was organised by Headquarters from 2-4 August, 2017 with the main objectives to: orient the participants about status of girl child in India with emphasis on gender biased sex selective elimination and female infanticide; sensitize the participants about the consequences of declining sex ratio and child sex ratio; familiarize the participants with various Government policies, rights, legislations and schemes related to girl child; and provide a forum to discuss and evolve strategies for prevention of gender biased sex selective elimination. Thirty-two participants attended the workshop.
  • Skill Training for ICDS Functionaries on Social and Behaviour Change Communication (SBCC) was organised by Headquarters at Lucknow from 2-4 August, 2017 with the main objectives to: orient the ICDS functionaries to the principles of Social Behaviour Change Communication and setting up communication objectives for ICDS; develop skills for effective value addition in communication process; enable trainees to develop communication materials for behaviour change; and enrich the participants develop need based model for social and behaviour change communication in their respective work places. Thirteen participants attended the skill training programme.
  • Orientation Programme on IYCF and SBCC for Para Medical Personnel was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 3-4 August, 2017 with the main objectives to: orient the participants on IYCF practices; apprise the participants on SBCC tools; and enable the participants to sensitize the primary and secondary care givers of the pregnant women and new born about IYCF practices to curb malnutrition and mortality. Seventy-seven participants attended the orientation programme.
  • Training of ICDS Functionaries on Implementation of ECCE Curriculum was organised by Headquarters at Regional Centre, Lucknow from 7-11 August, 2017 with the main objectives to: review the implementation of Annual Contextualized ECCE Curriculum in the States; share the experiences of challenges faced by the States in implementation of the ECCE Curriculum; refresh the participants about the concept & importance of ECCE; make the participants understand about the philosophy, principles and components of the National ECCE Policy, curriculum framework and quality standards; familiarize the participants with the State specific ECE curriculum and roll out of the same in the AWCs; orient participants on the diversity issues and strategies to handle diversity in the classroom and assessment of children at AWC; develop skills of the participants to carry out execution of the daily/weekly lesson plans based on thematic approach; discuss about the possible solutions or strategies to meet the challenges and effectively roll out the annual contextualized curriculum. Twenty-six participants attended the training programme.
  • Skill Training on Early Childhood Care and Education for the ECCE Coordinators of Mizoram was organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati from 7-11 August, 2017 with the main objectives to: familiarize the participants to the concept and importance of ECCED in ICDS; introduce and familiarize the participants with the ECCE policy, the contextualized ECE curriculum and quality standards; orient them about assessment of child learning outcome and development; facilitate them to act as a planner and manager of ECCE; and build an understanding of ECE and PSE and develop their skill in conducting various PSE and ECE activities. Twenty-seven participants attended the skill training programme.
  • Sensitization Programme on Beti Bachao & Beti Padhao for ICDS Officials was organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati from 8-9 August, 2017 with the main objectives to: sensitize the ICDS functionaries to gender disparity with particular focus on discrimination against girl child; orient them to planning and implementation of advocacy campaign for Social and Behaviour Change; enable them to integrate BBBP initiatives within the ICDS programme and to mobilize the community for improvement in Child Sex Ratio (CSR); and familiarize the ICDS Officials with different components of BBBP scheme. Thirty-eight participants attended the sensitization programme.
  • Orientation Programme on Counselling for Functionaries of SWADHAR Griha and UJJAWLA Scheme was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 8-10 August, 2017 with the main objectives to: acquaint the participants with psychological problems specifically anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive-disorder; introduce to the participants the essential elements of counselling; and equip the participants with the skills of problem solving. Twenty-five participants attended the orientation programme.
  • Orientation Programme for Mother NGOs of Health Ministry on Growth Monitoring and Usage of Mother and Child Protection Card was organised by Headquarters from 9-11 August, 2017 with the main objectives to: orient the functionaries of MNGOs/FNGOs to the New WHO Child Growth Standards and the joint MCP Card; and equip them with necessary skills to use new WHO growth chart, and joint MCP card in ICDS. Twenty-two participants attended the orientation programme.
  • Two Orientation Programmes for Centre Administrators, Counsellors and Case Workers of One Stop Centres of Chhattisgarh were organised by Headquarters at Raipur, Chhattisgarh from 16-17 and 18-19 August, 2017 with the main objectives to: orient the participants to Constitutional and legal provisions; provide information on implementation of the OSC scheme; and enhance their knowledge and skills in providing medico-legal and psychosocial support to aggrieved women and redress their problems under one roof. In all ninty-eight participants attended both the training programmes.
  • Orientation Course for Statistical Assistants on Management Information System in ICDS was organised by Headquarters from 16-18 August, 2017 with the main objectives to: orient the participants on the revised MIS in ICDS; acquaint them of their role in the monitoring of achievements and goals; and equip them with skills in data management and analysis. Thirty-four participants attended the orientation programme.
  • Orientation Programme on Addressing Declining Sex Ratio for ICDS Functionaries was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 21-23 August, 2017 with the main objectives to: orient the participants about the importance of sex ratio as a social indicator, causes and consequences of declining sex ration on the development of the country; apprise the participants on the demographic, social, economic and cultural factors influencing the decline of sex ratio in Southern States; enhance the knowledge of the participants on the legal safeguards to prevent the declining sex ratio; and discuss the government programmes and schemes and the role of ICDS functionaries in improving the status of girl children in the country. Twenty-three participants attended the orientation programme.
  • Training on Fund Raising Techniques and Resource Management for Voluntary Organizations was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 21-23 August, 2017 with the main objectives to: acquaint the representatives of voluntary organisations on fundraising techniques; impart knowledge on need for developing internal controls and accounting systems for effective utilization of funds and resources; orient them about ways and means of resource mobilization from various sources and methods of effective management; and discuss income tax rules and other financial procedures. Twenty-seven participants attended the training programme.
  • Workshop on Safety and Security of Girls in Schools was organised by Headquarters at Udaipur, Rajasthan from 23-24 August, 2017 with the main objectives to: sensitize the participants on safety and security of school going girls; share government and non-government initiatives for safety of school girls; discuss the role of stakeholders in prevention of violence and protection of school going girls; and evolve strategies and interventions for ensuring safety of school going girls. Forty-five participants attended the workshop.
  • Sensitization Programme on Prevention of Sexual Harassment at Work Place for Members of Sexual Harassment Committees was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 23-24 August, 2017 with the main objectives to: sensitize participants regarding different provisions of Act; build perspective on women friendly work environment; and appraise the modalities, mechanisms and procedure of redressal under the Prevention of Sexual Harassment Act. Twenty-four participants attended the workshop.
  • Training Programme for ICDS Functionaries on Scheme for Adolescent Girls, Maternity Benefit Programme (MBP) and Mother and Child Protection Card was organised by Headquarters from 23-25 August, 2017 with the main objectives to: orient the participants about Scheme for Adolescent Girls, Maternity Benefit Programme (MBP) and Use of MCP Card to tackle the inter-generational cycle of malnutrition effectively; apprise them of their role and responsibility in creating the awareness among the ICDS functionaries as trainers; enhance the capabilities of participants in counseling through MCP Card; and strengthen the monitoring and supervision aspect of Scheme for Adolescent Girls, Maternity Benefit Programme (MBP). Twenty-nine participants attended the training programme.
  • Skill Training Programme on Assessment of Child Learning Outcomes for ICDS Functionaries was organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati from 23-25 August, 2017 with the main objectives to: appraise the ICDS functionaries to the concept of child learning outcomes; develop the skill of ICDS functionaries for assessing children’s learning. help them to visualize the link between the quality of ECCE programme and child learning outcome; and make them understand about the need and importance of adequate child learning outcome for later learning development. Thirty-seven participants attended the skill training programme.
  • Skill Training on Preparation of Teaching Learning Materials (TLMs)/Teaching Aids for ICDS Functionaries was organised by Regional Centre, Indore from 23-25 August, 2017 with the main objectives to: sensitize ICDS Functionaries on the importance of the TLM in the Early Childhood Care and Development of Children; provide hands on experience on preparing TLM which is appropriate to foster all round development among children; and sensitize participants on the value of preparing TLM which are prepared from low cost/ no cost culturally available resources. Twenty-nine participants attended the skill training programme.
  • Parental Workshop on “Role of Parents in Improving Scholastic Performance of Their Children” was organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati on 24 August, 2017 with the main objectives to: develop an understanding among the parents/ guardians about the needs of the children at different age group with special reference to educational needs; and help the parents to understand their responsibilities towards their children for optimum development including education. One hundred twenty four participants attended the workshop.
  • Consultation Meet on Safety and Security of Women in Public Places was organised by Headquarters from 28-29 August, 2017 with the main objectives to: orient the participants on issues relating to health, nutrition and psycho-social development of children under-two; and equip them with necessary skills for dealing with issues relating to health, nutrition and psycho-social development of children under-two. Twenty-five participants attended the consultation meet.
  • Training Programme on Counselling Skills for Counsellors of Institutions Providing Care to Distressed Women was organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati on 28-30 August, 2017 with the main objectives to: sensitize the participants about magnitude, causes, nature and manifestation of violence against women in India with special reference to eastern region; develop understanding about the trauma faced by distressed women; orient the participants to a wider exposure of the skills and techniques of counselling for providing psychosocial support to distressed women; provide insight on the policies, existing support services for women in distress; and promote networking among NGOs and institutions and legal safeguards for women in distress. Thirty-three participants attended the training programme.
  • Two Refresher Courses for CDPOs/ ACDPOs were organised by Regional Centres, Bengaluru and Indore from 28 August-1 September, 2017 with the main objectives to: review the implementation of ICDS programme in the State with regard to its various aspects; provide a forum for sharing of experiences in implementing ICDS program; appraise CDPOs/ ACDPOs about the recent developments and trends in ICDS program; update their knowledge in the areas of early childhood care and development including nutrition and health care; and sharpen their communication, counseling and managerial skills. In all thirty-six participants attended both the refresher courses.
  • Orientation Workshop on Child Rights and Child Protection for Magistrates and Members of JJBs and SJPUs was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 29-30 August, 2017 with the main objectives to: develop understanding among the participants about the situation of children in India and challenges faced by children for their holistic development; sensitize and orient participants to the Juvenile Justice Act 2015, & its Rule 2016 and ICPS; orient the participants about the functioning, roles and responsibilities of Juvenile Justice Boards & SJPUs; understand and facilitate mechanisms for speedy disposal of cases; discuss the efficacy of institutional & noninstitutional services under the act; develop understanding of the concept of rehabilitation and social reintegration and to enable effective assessment of options in the best interest of children; and understand the role of different stakeholders under JJ Act, 2015. Twenty-nine participants attended the workshop.
  • Workshop on Counselling Techniques for Personnel of CCIs/Open Shelters was organized by Headquarters from 30-31 August, 2017 with the main objectives to: orient the participants to develop and understanding of the needs of children in terms of their care and protection specially child psychology and related issues; facilitate them to identify and analysis the problem of children in need of care and protection and children in conflict with law; and prepare them to effectively deal with the children in a child friendly way. Twenty-five participants attended the workshop.
  • Workshop for School Teachers on Identification and Management of Behavioural Problems among School Children was organised by Regional Centre, Indore from 30-31 August, 2017 with the main objectives to: acquaint the teachers about the nature and magnitude of behavior problems of children; familiarize them with the process and methods of identification of children with behavioural problems; and sensitize the teachers to the behavioural modification techniques and providing support environment at school. Sixty-one participants attended the workshop.

Important Activities

  • During the month of September, Dr. Virendra Kumar, Hon'ble Minister of State, MWCD visited the Institute and interacted with the faculty. MOS was apprised of various initiatives, undertaken by the Institute related to training of various functionaries under ICDS and ICPS as well as research in the areas of women and child development.
  • The Institute observed the Swachhata Hi Sewa Campaign from 15 September to 2 October 2017. The campaign was inaugurated by Secretary and Additional Secretary, MWCD followed by various activities which included: Swachhta Pledge, Signature Campaign, Plantation of Trees, Shramdan, hand washing using WHO technique and Videos on Swachhta. During this duration, various other activities were undertaken which included: activities in Child Care Centre; clean your space; swachhta quiz; rally on swachhta; slogan and essay writing competitions; and sessions on various aspects of swachhta in our life.
Training Programmes
  • Parent Workshop on ‘Competition of Mothers of Children attending the CCC on Nutritious Recipes for Preschoolers’ was organized at Headquarters on 1st September 2017 with the main objective to: facilitate in orienting the parents of children attending the CCC to nutritional needs and balanced diet for a preschooler which is nutritious, low cost, interesting and easy to handle. Twenty-two parents including five children attended the workshop.
  • Job Training Course for CDPOs/ACDPOs was organised by Headquarters from 1-30 September, 2017 with the main objectives to: orient the trainee CDPOs/ ACDPOs about ICDS programme its philosophy, objectives, package of services and beneficiaries with respect to restructured and strengthened ICDS and New Who Child Growth Standards, MCP card, schemes of SABLA & IGMSY; familiarize them with their role and responsibilities vis-a-vis job responsibilities of other block functionaries in coordination, supervision, and management of ICDS project; discuss with them the recent developments and thrusts in ICDS programme; share with them the need, importance and strategies for convergence of services at various levels of implementation; develop their requisite skills required for guiding grass roots level functionaries in preschool education, health & nutrition and community participation; and equip them with knowledge for effective leadership, supportive supervision and management of ICDS Projects. Twenty-eight participan ts attended the Job Training Course.
  • Orientation Workshop on Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act & Rules, 2012 for Chairpersons/Members of Child Welfare Committees (CWCs) was organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati from 4-5 September, 2017 with the main objectives to: sensitize the participants about the sexual offences being committed against children and consequent trauma faced by them; enhance the knowledge of the participants about salient features of POCSO Act, 2012; develop an understanding of their role in implementation of the Act; and orient them to different support and rehabilitation services available and role of CWC members in implementation of the Act. Twenty-three participants attended the workshop.
  • Training Course on Enhancement of Training Skills (Microteaching and Training Aid) for Trainers was organised by Headquarters from 4-8 September, 2017 with the main objectives to: explain the principles of adult learning; demonstrate the skills of training and develop training aids required for effective training and communication; explain uses of multi- media in training; evaluate the effectiveness of training. Sixteen participants attended the training course.
  • Training Programme on Counselling Interventions for Children Affected by Trauma, Abuse and Neglect was organised by Headquarters from 4-15 September, 2017 with the main objectives to: enable the participants to understand the linkages between neglect, abuse and trauma and its impact on the development of children; orient them to the various counselling interventions for addressing the psychosocial needs of children; provide opportunities for hands on training to sharpen the skills and attitudes for working with children; and expose them to the field situations and innovative approaches being tried out in the field. Twenty-one participants attended the training.
  • Workshop on POCSO Act, 2012 for School Principals and Teachers was organised by Headquarters from 6-7 September, 2017 with the main objectives to: share information about salient features of POCSO Act, 2012; develop an understanding of their role in implementation of Act; discuss ways of communicating with children about sexuality and guarding against child sexual abuse (CSA) and evolve ways and means to develop a strong system of initiating action against abusers of school-going children and preventive measures against child sexual abuse in educational institutions. Twenty-nine participants attended the workshop.
  • Sensitization Programme on Beti Bachao & Beti Padhao for Trainers of AWTCs/MLTCs was organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati from 7-8 September, 2017 with the main objectives to: orient the participants about the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme of MWCD, GOI; help them to understand the role of ICDS functionaries for implementation of the programme; and enable them to impart effective training to ICDS functionaries to build their knowledge and skills for coordination and convergence for implementation of BBBP programme. Twenty-five participants attended the sensitization programme.
  • Workshop on POCSO Act, 2012 for School Principals and Teachers of Residential Schools was organised by Regional Centre, Indore from 7-8 September, 2017 with the main objectives to: sensitize the participants about the sexual offences committed against children and provision under POCSO Act, 2012; develop an understanding of their role in implementation of the Act to protect child rights; and discuss the problems encountered in the implementation of the Act and skills required for protection of victims from sexual violence and child witness of sexual offences. Thirty participants attended the workshop.
  • Sensitization Training Programme for ICDS officials and Trainers of AWTCs/ MLTCs on Strengthening and Promotion of VHND and ECCE Day was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 11-13 September, 2017 with the main objectives to: strengthen the knowledge and understanding of participants on planning and promotion of VHND and ECCE Day; strengthen the skills of participants on organization of VHND and ECCE Day AWCs and sharpen their communication, counseling and managerial skills. Twenty-six participants attended the sensitization programme.
  • Three Vertical Training Programmes of Block Level ICDS Functionaries for Quality Improvement in ICDS Programme were organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 11-15 September, 2017 and 18-22 September, 2017 at Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh respectively. Another Vertical Training Programme was organized by Headquarters from 18-23 September, 2017 at Jammu & Kashmir with the main objectives to: enhance the skills of CDPOs and Supervisors to act as a Master Trainer for providing continuing education to AWWs at project level; provide inputs to improve knowledge and skills of all ICDS functionaries at project level for quality improvement in ICDS Services; and work jointly and formulate joint action plan at project level for quality improvement of delivery of ICDS services. One hundred sixty five participants attended the training programme.
  • Skill Training for ICDS Functionaries on ECCE was organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati from 11-15 September, 2017 with the main objectives to: review the services for developing an understanding of the current situation; acquaint the ICDS functionaries to the new developments in the field of ECCE including National ECCE Policy; and build the capacity of CDPOs to effectively guide the grass root level functionaries on implementation of strengthened ECCE component. Thirty-one participants attended the skill training.

  • Sensitization Programme on Child Mental Health for Teachers of Navodaya Vidyalaya School was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 12-14 September, 2017 with the main objectives to: sensitize the participants on issues related to child mental health; familiarize the participants with the learning and behavioural problems of children and develop their skills in identification of these problems; and enable the participants to develop a strategy for seeking timely intervention for children from specialized agencies. Fourteen participants attended the sensitization programme.
  • Training on Counselling Skills for the Counselors of Family Counseling Centres was organised by Regional Centre, Indore from 13-15 September, 2017 with the main objectives to: sensitize the participants on the provisions of the ‘Protection of Women from Domestic Violence’ Act, 2005; provide counselling skills to participants to enhance their capacity in running FCCs; and discuss the functions of family counseling centres and coordination among different stakeholders. Thirty-five participants attended the training programme.
  • Workshop on Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act (PWDVA), 2005 for Field Work Coordinators of Social Work Departments was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 14-15 September, 2017 with the main objectives to: sensitise the participants with the trends in domestic violence over the past decade and the measures adopted to combat it; orient the college/university teachers on the provisions of the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005; and enable the college teachers to take a proactive role in bringing about awareness among the students and the general public on the issue. Thirty-one participants attended the workshop.

  • Workshop on Incorporating Gender Issues in Disaster Management was organised by Headquarters from 18-20 September, 2017 with the main objectives to: develop a greater understanding of the differential impact of disasters and coping strategies on women/girls, men/boys; underscore the importance of gender analysis by focusing on consequences of seemingly gender sensitive interventions: identify key gender related issues to be considered in disaster management phased; and evolve strategies for integrating gender perspective in the overall planning of disaster management. Thirty-seven participants attended the workshop.
  • Workshop on Implementation of Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act (PWDVA), 2005 was organised by Headquarters from 18-20 September, 2017 with the main objectives to: provide insight on various provisions of the Act on “Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005 in the context of gender based violence and discrimination against women; discuss the roles and responsibilities of various stakeholders such as Protection Officers, Services Providers and Police Personnel’s in making effective use of the PWDVA; and develop understanding on inter-agency response system for the effective implementation of the PWDVA, 2005 and suggest remedies. Thirty-eight participants attended the workshop.
  • Orientation Course for Functionaries of Voluntary Organisations on Monitoring and Evaluation of Developmental Programmes for Women and Children was organised by Headquarters at Indore from 18-22 September, 2017 with the main objectives to: orient the participants to the concept and importance of monitoring and evaluation in social development programmes; apprise the participants to the latest methods/techniques of monitoring and evaluation of the programmes; and enhance the skills of participants for quality monitoring and supervision of women and child development programmes. Eighteen participants attended the course.
  • Induction Training for the Chairpersons and Members of CWCs was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 18-22 September, 2017 with the main objectives to: develop understanding among the participants about the situation of children in India and challenges faced by children for their holistic development; sensitize and orient participants to the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act 2015 and Rules 2016; orient the participants about the functioning, roles and responsibilities of child welfare committees; understand and facilitate mechanisms for speedy disposal of cases; discuss the efficacy of institutional & non-institutional services under the Act; develop understanding of the concept of rehabilitation and social reintegration and to enable effective assessment of options in the best interest of children and; understand the role of different stakeholders as provided in the Act.   • Workshop on POCSO Act, 2012 for Child Care Institutions (CCIs) was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 19-20 September, 2017 with the main objectives to: enhance the knowledge of the participants about salient features of POCSO Act 2012; sensitize the participants about the sexual offences being committed against children and consequences trauma faced by them; develop an understanding of their role in implementation of the Act; enable them to understand and contextualize the rights of children; orient them about different support and rehabilitation services available for victims of sexual offence under POCSO Act & Rules; and discuss about difficulties / problem encountered in the implementation of the Act and skills required in solving these problems. Fifteen participants attended the workshop.
  • Orientation Training Programme for Superintendents of Child Care Institutions was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 20-22 September, 2017 with the main objectives to: orient the participants to the conceptual framework of Child Rights and Protection; enable them to understand service delivery mechanisms and legal provisions; and create an understanding of the Good Child Protection Practices including various legislations, policies and program etc. Thirty-four participants attended the training programme.
  • Workshop on Child Rights and Protection for District Child Protection Officers (DCPOs) was organised by Headquarters from 21-22 September, 2017 with the main objectives to: discuss the conceptual framework of Child Rights and Protection; share information about the revised Integrated Child Protection Scheme (ICPS) and evolve strategies for effective child protection with the support of DCPOs at the district level; discuss about child rights and legislations for care & protection of children; share information about the ICPS machinery, including CWC and their role and responsibilities and discuss about ways and means of rehabilitation and social reintegration of children within family/society in reference to individual Child Care Plans. Thirty participants attended the workshop.
  • Consultative Meet on Ensuring Safe and Secure Environment for Survival and Development of Girl Child) was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 21-22 September, 2017 with the main objectives to: discuss the various existing strategies/models for prevention of Child Girl survival; and discuss the points of convergent actions required for promotion of girl child survival. Twenty-five participants attended the consultative meet.
  • Parental Workshop on various Academic and Psychosocial Issues of Children was organised by Regional Centre, Indore on 21 September, 2017 with the main objectives to: sensitize parents about various psychosocial issues children face; make parents familiar with the nature of various problems in children; and develop parent’s skill to play an active role in helping children to deal effectively with the various problems children face. Two hundred seven participants attended the workshop.
  • Preparation for Review cum Training Workshop for Beti Bachao Beti Padho was organised by Headquarters at Jaipur from 27-28 August, 2017 with the main objectives to: sensitize and train the functionaries as catalysts for social change and to mobilize the community for its engagement for improving the CSR, Sex Ratio at Birth (SRB) and enrolment & retention of girl child in schools; provide information and training for better inter-sectoral and inter-institutional convergence at district/block/grass-root levels through cross learning; and orient the trainers about planning process of advocacy campaign for social and behaviour change. Important Activities

  • Ministry of Women & Child Development organised 'Women of India Organic Festival 2017' at Dilli Haat from 1-15 October, 2017 to support and encourage women and women-led groups that promote organic farming, thus supporting their local community’s economy, creating jobs and keeping farmers thriving, in addition to spreading proper awareness about the benefits of organic products from all over India. The Women of India Festival of Organic Products was intended to highlight the health and environmental advantages of organic goods, provide a platform for women engaged in it and boost the development of sustainable and easily accessible sales outlets for women producers from the remotest corners of India. Women entrepreneurs from 25 States came together with their organic products such as cereals, rice, pulses, spices, cosmetics, household products, pickles, organic ice cream, oils, honey, tea, hair care, bath care, beauty care, aromatherapy products, solar products, kitchen composters, organic cotton fabric, linen, organic seeds and other bio products. The participants of Women of India Organic Festival 2017 also enrolled themselves in Mahila E-Haat, another initiative of the Ministry of Women & Child Development to meet the aspirations and needs of women entrepreneurs. This unique e-platform exponentially strengthens the socio-economic empowerment of women beyond the Festival. NIPCCD provided logistic support during the event.

  • Orientation Workshop on Child Rights and Protection for Teachers of Home Science Colleges & Department of Social Work was organized at Headquarters from 3-5 October, 2017 with the main objectives to: orient the teachers of Departments of Home Science & Social Works towards child rights, developmental policies and programmes for children; enable them to understand service delivery mechanisms under ICPS and legal provisions relating to Child Rights & Protection; and create a clear understanding of the provisions under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of the Children) Act 2015 and POCSO Act, 2012. Sixteen participants attended the workshop.
  • Sensitization Programme for Police Officials, ICDS Functionaries and NGOs on Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act (PWDVA), 2005 was organized at Regional Centre, Indore from 3-5 October, 2017 with the main objectives to: create awareness about the provisions of PWDV Act, 2005; and roles and responsibilities of Police Officials and other stakeholders. Thirty participants attended the programme.
  • Orientation Programme for District level Officers of ICDS on Child Care and Protection was organized at Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 4-6 October, 2017 with the main objectives to: orient the participants on constitutional/legal provision and issues relating to the development, care and protection of children; orient the participants on various policy and programme initiatives of Government relating to children; and discuss the role of elected members in accelerating the development process with regard to children. Twenty-eight participants attended the programme.
  • Orientation Training on Combating Violence Against Women and Girls for Representatives of Voluntary Organizations was organized at Regional Centre, Lucknow from 5-6 October, 2017 with the main objectives to: develop clear perspective among participants about gender based violence; provide insight into policies, existing support services and legal safeguards for women and girls to curb the problem; and evolve strategies for combating violence against women and girls. Twenty-two participants attended the programme.
  • Training Programme on Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) for Functionaries of Tribal ICDS Projects was organized by Regional Centre, Indore at Chhatisgarh from 9-12 October, 2017 with the main objectives to: enhance the technical knowledge on Infant and Young Child Feeding; build the counselling skills on exclusive breastfeeding and complementary feeding; learn the growth monitoring and measuring; and practice IYCF counselling with emphasis on correct positioning, helping mothers to breast feed through clinical practice. Twenty-three participants attended the training programme.
  • Two Refresher Courses for CDPOs/ACDPOs were organized at Regional Centres, Bengaluru and Lucknow from 9-13 October, 2017 with the main objectives to: review the implementation of ICDS programme in the states with regard to its various aspects; provide a forum for sharing of experiences in implementing ICDS programme; aspire CDPOs/ACDPOs about the recent development and trends in ICDS programme; update their knowledge in the area of early childhood care and development including nutrition and health care and to sharpen their communication, counselling and managerial skills. In all, fifty-seven participants attended both the refresher courses.
  • Phase - II Training of Assam State level master Trainers (SLMTs) on Implementation of ECCE Curriculum was organized by Headquarters at Regional Centre, Guwahati from 9-13 October, 2017 with the main objectives to: review the implementation of Annual Contextualized ECCE Curriculum in the States; share the experiences of challenges faced by the States in implementation of the ECCE Curriculum; refresh the participants about the concept & importance of ECCE; make the participants understand about the philosophy, principles and components of the National ECCE Policy, curriculum framework and quality standards; familiarize the participants with the State specific ECE curriculum and roll out of the same in the AWCs; orient participants on the diversity issues and strategies to handle diversity in the classroom and assessment of children at AWC; develop skills of the participants to train on the execution of the daily/weekly lesson plans based on thematic approach; and discuss about the possible solutions or strategies to meet the challenges and effectively roll out the annual contextualized curriculum. Thirty-three participants attended the programme.
  • Vertical Training Programme of Block Level ICDS Functionaries for Quality Improvement in ICDS Programme was organized at Regional Centre, Guwahati from 9-13 October, 2017 with the main objectives to: enhance the skills of CDPOs and Supervisors to act as a Master Trainer for providing continuing education to AWWs at project level; provide inputs to improve knowledge and skills of all ICDS functionaries at project level for quality improvement in ICDS Services; and work jointly and formulate joint action plan at project level for quality improvement of delivery of ICDS services. Forty-five participants attended the programme.
  • Orientation Programme on Counselling Skills for Institutions providing Care to Distressed Women was organized at Headquarters from 11-13 October, 2017 with the main objectives to: provide insight into the manifestation of violence against women in India; existing policies, support services and legal safeguards for women; develop understanding about different approaches and types of counselling interventions women in distress; and enhance counselling skills for providing psychosocial support to distressed women. Thirty-three participants attended the programme.
  • Skill Training on ECCE for Instructors of AWTCs/MLTCs was organized at Regional Centre, Indore from 11-13 October, 2017 with the main objectives to: develop a better understanding of the concepts of early childhood years, ECD, ECCD, ECCE and linkages with one another among the trainees; make them understand the issues relating to ECCE in the light of national policy of ECCE and restructured ICDS, and enable the Instructors to impart effective training on ECCE and guide the AWWs and Supervisors for proper delivery of ECCE programme to ensure optimum early childhood development in children. Twenty-four participants attended the skill training programme.

  • Orientation Training on the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 for the Members of Internal Complaints Committee of N. F. Railways was organized at Regional Centre, Guwahati on 16 October, 2017 with the main objectives to: sensitize the members of ICC to the nature and trends of sexual harassment in work places; orient the participants to the salient features and provisions of the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 and the relevant rules; make them aware about the modalities, mechanisms and procedure of redressal under the Act; and apprise the participating members of the Committees about their roles and responsibilities. Twenty- three participants attended the programme.
  • Sensitization Programme on Prevention of Child abuse for Principals/ Vice Principals of Government Schools was organized at Regional Centre, Guwahati from 16-18 October, 2017 with the main objectives to: sensitize the Principals and Vice Principals of Government Schools to the issues of Child Abuse with reference to occurrence, types and consequences; make them aware about legislative measures pertaining to protection of children from abuse; and enable them to take appropriate action for preventing and addressing the abuse in schools. Twenty-nine participants attended the programme.
  • Skills Training Programme on Interpersonal Communication and Counselling for ICDS Functionaries was organized at Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 23-25 October, 2017 with the main objectives to: orient the participants on importance of interpersonal communication in ICDS; apprise the participants about the factors influencing interpersonal communication; discuss the conceptual framework of counselling; and make them aware about various methods and techniques of counselling. Forty-one participants attended the programme.
  • Skill Training on Community Mobilization, Advocacy, Awareness & IEC Campaign on Issues relating to child development was organized by Headquarters at Regional Centre, Indore from 23-27 October, 2017 with the main objectives to: orient the participants to the concept and importance of community mobilization, participation, advocacy, awareness and IEC Campaign; develop skills on techniques and methods of community mobilization advocacy and awareness campaign; and strengthen the skills of participants on eliciting community participation using various techniques for the effective implementation of ICDS programme. Twenty-four participants attended the programme.
  • Orientation Course for DPOs of ICDS and Officials of NHM on Prevention of Malnutrition & Mortality among Women and Children was organized at Regional Centre, Guwahati from 23-27 October, 2017 with the main objectives to: enable the Govt. Officials to develop a clear understanding about the issues of infant/ child and maternal malnutrition and mortality; help them to appreciate the association between malnutrition and maternal and child morbidity and mortality; and enable the participants to draw up plans for identification of malnourishment and design intervention programme for areas with higher incidences of malnutrition and mortality. Thirty participants attended the programme.
  • Orientation Course on Research Methodology for the Faculty of Social Sciences of North Eastern Region was organized at Regional Centre, Guwahati from 23-27 October, 2017 with the main objectives to: orient the participants to the use of methods and techniques of social science research; strengthen the knowledge and skills of participants in planning and conducting research; enable the participants in processing and analyzing data for effective presentation of facts /information; and facilitate them to enhance their skills in undertaking meaningful research projects. Thirty-one participants attended the programme.
  • Training on Skill Development, Marketing and Income Generation activities for NGOs and ICDS Functionaries of Western Region was organized at Regional Centre, Indore from 23-27 October, 2017 with the main objectives to: sensitize participants about skill development training and income generation activities for development of women; develop skill among participants in convergence of services with vocational training institutions; and enhance capabilities of participants in marketing skills and networking through information technology and indigenous resources. Eighteen participants attended the training programmme.
  • Four Workshops on POCSO Act, 2012 for School Principals and Senior Teachers of Punjab were organized by Headquarters at Jalandhar on 24 and 25 October, 2017 with the main objectives to: share information about salient features of POCSO Act, 2012; develop an understanding of their role in implementation of the Act; and evolve ways and means to develop a strong system of initiating action against abusers of school-going children and preventive measures against child sexual abuse in educational institutions. In all, two hundred & seventy-two participants attended all the four workshops.
  • Job Training Course for CDPOs/ACDPO was organized at Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 30 October – 28 November, 2017 with the main objectives to: orient the CDPOs/ACDPOs to various components of ICDS scheme; enable them to understand their own role, as well as the roles and responsibilities of other functionaries of the scheme; equip them with adequate knowledge and skills for providing the job training to peripheral workers of the scheme; facilitate them to develop skill necessary for administration and management on the ICDS scheme. Forty-two participants attended the job training course.
  • Orientation Workshop on Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act & Rules, 2012 for Police/SJPUs was organized at Regional Centre, Guwahati from 30-31 October, 2017 with the main objectives to: orient the participants to the salient features of POCSO Act, 2012; sensitize the participants about the sexual offences being committed against children and consequent trauma faced by them; develop an understanding of their role in implementation of the Act; enable them to understand and contextualize the rights of children; discuss about difficulties/ problems encountered in the implementation of the Act and ways and means of addressing these problems. Twenty-seven participants attended the workshop.
  • Skill Training for ICDS functionaries on Social and Behaviour Change Communication (SBCC) was organized at Headquarters from 30 October – 1 November, 2017 with the main objectives to: enhance the knowledge of participants on the principles of Social Behaviour Change Communication and setting of communication objectives for ICDS; Augment understanding related to strategic shifts in SBCC; explain and apply the SBCC planning process for developing a strategic communication; and improve understanding of principles of monitoring and evaluation process to assess effectiveness of communication and application of the same in ICDS. Nineteen participants attended the programme.
  • Training Programme on Data Utilization and Result based Action in ICDS was organized at Regional Centre, Lucknow from 30 October – 1 November, 2017 with the main objectives to: orient the participants on understanding available data; enable participants for data analysis; and equip the participants to develop monitoring indicator based action plan. Nineteen participants attended the programme.
  • Induction Training for the Chairpersons and Members of CWCs was organized at Regional Centre, Lucknow from 30 October – 3 November, 2017 with the main objectives to: develop understanding among the participants about the situation of children in India and challenges faced by children for their holistic development; sensitize and orient participants to the juvenile justice (care and protection of children) act 2015, its Rules, 2016; orient the participants about the functioning, roles and responsibilities of child welfare committees; understand and facilitate mechanisms for speedy disposal of cases; discuss the efficacy of institutional & non-institutional services under the act; develop understanding of the concept of rehabilitation and social reintegration and to enable effective assessment of options in the best interest of children and; understand the role of different stakeholders as provided in the Act. Twelve participants attended the programme.
  • Awareness Camp on Life Skill Education for Adolescent girls, Sakhi and Saheli of AWCs was organized at Regional Centre, Indore on 31 October, 2017 with the main objectives to: understand the developmental stages of adolescent age; sensitize towards psycho- social problems and challenges of adolescent girls equip participants in coping with problems of adolescent girls and their management; and acquaint participants with Life Skill Education for holistic development. Fifty-eight participants attended the programme.

Important Activities

  • The MWCD celebrated Child Rights Week “Hausala 2017” between 16th to 20th November, 2017 by hosting an inter CCI Festival for the children who reside in Child Care Institutions (CCIs) with the aim that it would provide an occasion to showcase the talents and provide them with a space to express their dreams and aspirations. Children participated in various events like Bal Sansad, Painting Competition, Athletics Meet, Football and Chess Competition. More than 500 children from 26 States/UTs participated in the programme who had come from various child care institutions across the country. The scheme guidelines of Unnati for giving scholarships under National Children’s Fund to children of CCIs who show good academic performance were also released in the closing ceremony. A compilation of speeches written by children was also released. NIPCCD assisted MWCD in organising the events.
  • The Institute organised Five ToTs of Elected Women Representatives (EWRs) of Panchayati Raj Institutions from 28-30 November, 2017 with the main objectives to: deliberate upon issues related to empowerment of women and functioning of PRIs; discuss schemes and legislations for women, children and other marginalized groups; describe processes of participatory planning in local governance; appraise significance of convergence and linkages to obtain better outcomes for development; and enable women to identify their own leadership potential to contribute effectively as change agents. One hundred sixty-Two participants attended the programmes.
Training Programmes
  • Three Job Training Courses for CDPOs/ACDPOs were organized at Regional Centres Guwahati, Indore and Lucknow from 1 November-1 December, 6 November-5 December and 6 November- 6 December, 2017 with the main objectives to: orient the CDPOs/ACDPOs to various components of ICDSW scheme; make them understand their role and roles of other functionaries of the project as well as other staff of the block; equip them to provide on the job orientation and guidance to the AWWs and Supervisors as and when needed; and help them acquire knowledge and information to enable them to develop necessary supervisory skills. In all, Sixty-six participants attended these courses.
  • Refresher-cum-Review Workshop on Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) was organized at Headquarters from 2-3 November, 2017 with the main objectives to: review the progress of the training and sensitization programmes, strategies adopted by districts, district action plans and further future training required for the scheme; sensitize about the latest developments and best practices related to the BBBP scheme; provide information and training for better inter-sectoral and inter-institutional convergence at district/block/grass-root levels; and orient the trainers about planning process of advocacy campaign for social and behaviour change. Fifty-two participants attended the programme.
  • Sensitization Programme on Beti Bachao Beti Padhao for functionaries of VOs was organized at Regional Centre, Guwahati from 2-3 November, 2017 with the main objectives to: sensitize the representatives of NGOs to prevent gender biased sex selective elimination, existing Legislations and Acts; make the participants aware about rights of the girl child and constitutional provisions; orient about ways and means of ensure survival, education, participation & protection of the girl child through coordinated efforts of Govt. and Non-Governmental Organisations; and enable them to mobilize the community people for improvement in the child sex ratio (CSR). Twenty-nine participants attended the programme.
  • Two Days Sensitization Programme on Misuse of Social Media Networking for Representatives of Voluntary Organizations was organized at Regional Centre, Lucknow from 2-3 November, 2017 with the main objectives to: apprise the participants about advantages and disadvantages of social media networking; and discuss psycho-social impact of social media on children and suggest ways for minimizing adverse effect of social media networking. Fourteen participants attended the programme.
  • Parental Workshop was organized by Headquarters on 3 November, 2017 to pre-test the ‘Parent Guide for Improving School Readiness in Children’ using parameters such as- comprehensibility of text; comprehensibility of illustrations, ease in usage, usefulness in promoting the concept/skill, suggestions for improvement, etc. The parent guide has been prepared to expand the scope of existing services of CCC and enhance the parental involvement in improving school readiness of children (3-4 years). The topics covered in guide are: School Readiness; Cognitive Skills for School Readiness (Matching, Classifying, Understanding Relationships, Perceiving Patterns, and Problem Solving); Physical Skills; Social and Emotional Skills; Developing Spoken Language; Reading Readiness; Writing Readiness; and Pre-Arithmetic Skills etc. Pre-Arithmetic Skills. In all, Twenty-two parents attended the workshop.
  • Orientation Training Programme for School Teachers on Learning and Behavioural Problems was organized at Regional Centre, Lucknow from 7-9 November, 2017 with the main objectives to: sensitise the participants on issues related to child mental health; familiarize the participants with the learning and behavioural problems of children and to develop their skills and identification of these problems; orient the teachers to the provisions of POCSO, 2012 and enable the participants to develop strategy for seeking timely intervention for children from specialized agencies. Twenty-one participants attended the programme.
  • Orientation Programme on Management of Institutions for Superintendents of Women’s Institutions was organized at Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 8-10 November, 2017 with the main objectives to: acquaint the representatives of Voluntary organizations to fund raising know-how and techniques; impart knowledge on need for developing internal controls and accounting systems for effective utilization and management of funds; and discuss income tax rules and procedures. Thirty-one participants attended the programme.
  • Sensitisation Programme on Swachh Bharat Abhiyan for Representatives of Urban Local Bodies was organized at Regional Centre, Indore from 9-10 November, 2017 with the main objectives to: apprise participants about objectives of Swachh Bharat abhiyan; discuss role & responsibilities of representatives of urban local bodies; and sensitize participants for greater community involvement and participation in Swachh Bharat Abiyan. Sixty participants attended the programme.
  • A Parental workshop on Parental Support Needed by Children during the Stages of Early Childhood was organized at Regional Centre, Guwahati on 10 November, 2017 with the main objectives to: develop an understanding among the parents about the needs of children during early childhood; and acquaint them about appropriate parenting skills during this period. One hundred fifteen participants attended the workshop.
  • Three Orientation Workshops for Chairpersons and Members of CWCs were organized at Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 13 -14, 16 -17 and 27-28 November, 2017 with the main objectives to: develop understanding among the participants about the situation of children in India and challenges faced by children for their holistic development; sensitize and orient participants to the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act 2015 vis-à-vis ICPS; orient the participants about different roles and responsibilities being carried out by and functioning of Child Welfare Committees; understand the mechanisms for speedy disposal of cases; create an understanding of the concept of rehabilitation and social reintegration and to enable effective assessment of options; and discuss relevance of non-Institutional Services under the Act to facilitate effective rehabilitation & social reintegration of children including difficulties faced by them. In all, One hundred fourteen participants attended these workshops.
  • Skill Training for ICDS Functionaries on ECCE was organized at Regional Centre, Guwahati from 13-17 November, 2017 with the main objectives to: orient the participants to the National ECCE Policy; discuss the services and its effective functioning to suit the current trend; and build the capacity of CDPOs to effectively guide the grassroot level functionaries on ECCD component. Twenty-three participants attended the programme.
  • Sensitization Programme on POCSO Act, 2012 for School Teachers was organized at Regional Centre, Lucknow on 14 November, 2017 with the main objectives to: sensitize the participants about the sexual offences committed against children and provision under POCSO Act, 2012; and develop an understanding of their role in implementation of the Act to protect child rights. Sixty-one participants attended the programme.
  • Awareness Generation Camp on Child Rights and Protection for School Children was organized at Regional Centre, Indore on 14 November, 2017 with the main objectives to: discuss the problems and challenges faced by children to derive specific issues of child rights and protection to be focused; and aware the children on provisions of CRC and national initiatives for child rights and child protection including various legal instruments and services for child protection. Fifty-three participants attended the camp.
  • Orientation Workshop on Adoption and Foster Care Guidelines for Chairpersons and Members of Child Welfare Committees was organized at Regional Centre, Lucknow from 15-17 November, 2017 with the main objectives to: orient the participations regarding Adoption Regulations, 2016 and Foster Care Guidelines by Ministry of Women and Child Development; and discuss the role of CWC under Adoption and Foster Care. Twenty participants attended the workshop.
  • Orientation Programme on Community Mobilization and Management of Community Resources for Functionaries of Government and Voluntary Organizations was organized at Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 20 – 24 November, 2017 with the main objectives to: orient the participants to the concept and importance of community mobilization, participation and management of community resources; and develop skills and techniques for mobilizing and managing community Resources. Twenty-eight participants attended the programme.

  • Workshop for Capacity Building of Stakeholders on Child Protection and Child Rights was organized at Rajasthan from 21 – 23 November, 2017 with the main objectives to: enable them to understand salient features of Juvenile Justice Act 2015 and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act 2012; and develop an Action Plan for the Stakeholders for effective child care and protection in the region. Thirty participants attended the workshop.
  • Orientation Training on Juvenile Justice Act (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015 and Rules, 2016 for Chairpersons and Members of CWCs and JJBs was organized at Regional Centre, Lucknow from 21-23 November, 2017 with the main objectives to: develop understanding among the participants about the situation of children in India and challenges faced by children for their holistic development; sensitize and orient participants to the Juvenile Justice Act 2015, & its Rule 2016 and ICPS; orient the participants about the functioning, roles and responsibilities of Juvenile Justice Boards& Child Welfare Committees; understand and facilitate mechanisms for speedy disposal of cases; discuss the efficacy of institutional & non-institutional services under the act; develop understanding of the concept of rehabilitation and social reintegration and to enable effective assessment of options in the best interest of children and; and understand the role of different stakeholders under Act. Nineteen participants attended the programme.
  • Orientation Training for School Teachers on Identification and Management of Behavioural Problems among School Children was organized at Regional Centre, Indore from 27-29 November, 2017 with the main objectives to: acquaint the Teachers about the nature and magnitude of behavior problems of children; familiarize them with the process and methods of identification of children with behavioral problems; and sensitize the teachers to the behavioural modification techniques and providing support environment at school. Twenty-nine participants attended the programme.
  • Workshop on Research and Documentation Techniques in Social Development Projects for Representatives of Government and Voluntary Organisations was organized at Headquarters from 27 November - 1 December, 2017 with the main objectives to: discuss with the participants about the significance of research and documentation in conceiving and implementing social development projects; expose them to various research and documentation techniques which could be adopted by the participants in designing/scrutinizing/reviewing social development projects; and facilitate them to enhance their skills in applying these techniques in social development projects. Twenty-one participants attended the workshop.
  • Vertical Learning Programme for ICDS Functionaries was organized at Regional Centre, Lucknow from 27 November - 1 December, 2017 at Jharkhand with the main objectives to: enhance the skills of CDPOs and Supervisors to act as a Master Trainer for providing continuing education to AWWs at project level; provide inputs to improve knowledge and skills of all ICDS functionaries at project level for quality improvement in ICDS Services; work jointly with health and education; and formulate joint action plan at project level for quality improvement of delivery of ICDS services. Thirty-nine participants attended the programme.
  • Refresher Course for CDPOs/ACDPOs was organized at Regional Centre, Lucknow from 27 November¬ - 1 December, 2017 with the main objectives to: review the implementation of restructured & strengthened ICDS programme in the State with regard to its various aspects; provide a forum for sharing of experiences in implementing ICDS programme; apprise CDPOs/ACDPOs about the recent developments and trends in ICDS programme; update their knowledge in the areas of early childhood care and development including nutrition and health care; and sharpen their communication, counseling and managerial skills. Seven participants attended the refresher course.
  • Orientation training on Counselling for the Counsellors of Family Counselling Centres was organized at Regional Centre, Guwahati from 27 November - 1 December, 2017 with the main objectives to: appraise the participants about the dynamics of human behavior and linkages with social problems, atrocities against women; orient and give them a wider exposure of the skills and techniques of counseling; update the knowledge of relevant legislations and their implementation pertaining to women ; and develop their skill on record keeping, scientific reporting and documentation. Thirty participants attended the training programme.
  • Five ToTs of Elected Women Representatives (EWRs) of Panchayati Raj Institutions were organized at Headquarters from 28-30 November, 2017 with the main objectives to: deliberate upon issues related to empowerment of women and functioning of PRIs; discuss schemes and legislations for women, children and other marginalized groups; describe processes of participatory planning in local governance; appraise significance of convergence and linkages to obtain better outcomes for development; and enable women to identify their own leadership potential to contribute effectively as change agents. One hundred sixty-Two participants attended the programmes.
  • Orientation Workshop on Child Rights and Child Protection for Members of JJBs and CWCs was organized at Regional Centre, Indore from 30 November - 1 December, 2017 with the main objectives to: apprise the participants about salient features of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015; develop an understanding of their role and responsibilities relating to children in need of care and protection; and evolve strategies for effective implementation of JJ Act, 2015.   • Workshop on POCSO Act, 2012 for Elected Representatives of Panchayati Raj Institutions was organized at Headquarters from 4-5 December, 2017 with the main objectives to: apprise the members of Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) about sexual offences against children and salient features of the 'Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act; develop an understanding of their role in protecting children against child sexual abuse and supporting child victims and their families; and evolve strategies for elimination of sexual offences at the community level with support of PRIs. Eighteen participants attended the workshop.
  • Workshop on Monitoring and Supervision for ICDS Functionaries was organized at Headquarters from 4-6 December, 2017 with the main objectives to: provide an overview of monitoring & supervision system in ICDS, as also, an insight into revised MIS in ICDS; discuss the roles and responsibilities of various stakeholders in monitoring and supervision of ICDS Scheme, share the experiences & challenges faced and identifying best practices; and evolve effective strategies for better monitoring and supervision of ICDS Scheme. Twenty-eight participants attended the workshop.

Twenty-four participants attended the training programme.

  • Sensitization Programme on Beti Bachao & Beti Padhao for ICDS Officials was organized at Regional Centre, Guwahati from 5-6 December 2017 with the main objectives to: sensitize the officials about the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme of MWCD, GOI; acquaint them with their role and responsibilities for effective implementation of schemes in their projects; and develop an insight on the importance of networking and convergence of services among different agencies for ensuring survival and development of girl child. Twenty-five participants attended the sensitization programme.
  • Consultation Meet on Child Care and Protection for Stakeholders of ICPS was organized at Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 5-6 December, 2017 with the main objectives to: review the various care and protection issues affecting the children; deliberate on various policy and programme initiatives of Government relating to children; discuss the role of stake holders in child care and protection issues. Twenty-eight participants attended the consultation meet.
  • Two Workshops/Consultative Meets on Safety and Security of Girls in Schools were organized at Headquarters and Regional Centre, Benagluru from 7-8 December, 2017 with the main objectives to: sensitize the participants on safety and security of school going girls; share government and non-government initiatives for safety of school girls; discuss the role of stakeholders in prevention of violence and protection of school going girls; and evolve strategies and interventions for ensuring safety of school going girls.   • Workshop on Critical Issues in dealing with Children in Need of Care and Protection for Juvenile Justice Boards (JJBs) was organized at Headquarters from 07-08 December, 2017 with the main objectives to: discuss the provisions of Juvenile Justice (Care and protection of Children) Act, 2015 and Rules thereunder; share the situation related to children in conflict with law in the States and; come out with effective strategies for implementation of JJ Act. Nineteen participants attended the workshop.
  • Workshop on Child Protection for Superintendents and Care Givers was organized by Headquarters at Regional Centre, Indore from 07-08 December, 2017 with the main objectives to: share the present status of child protection under Juvenile Justice System and ICPS in the State; discuss the experiences in providing care & protection to children and share challenges at Child Care Institutions (CCI) level; and come out with effective strategies for enhancing child care and protection services under revised ICPS Twenty-three participants attended the workshop.
  • Second Phase Training of State Level Master Trainers on Implementation of Annual ECCE Curriculum was organized by Headquarters at Regional Centre Indore from 11-15 December, 2017 with the main objectives to: review the implementation of Annual Contextualized ECCE Curriculum in the States; share the experiences of challenges faced by the States in implementation of the ECCE Curriculum; refresh the participants about the concept & importance of ECCE; make the participants understand about the philosophy, principles and components of the National ECCE Policy, curriculum framework and quality standards; familiarize the participants with the State specific ECE curriculum and roll out of the same in the AWCs; Orient participants on the diversity issues and strategies to handle diversity in the classroom and assessment of children at AWC; develop skills of the participants to train on the execution of the daily/weekly lesson plans based on thematic approach; and discuss about the possible solutions or strategies to meet the challenges and effectively roll out the annual contextualized curriculum.   • Orientation Training for Trainers of AWTCs/MLTCs/STIs was organized at Regional Centre, Indore from 11-19 December, 2017 with the main objectives to: apprise the Instructors of AWTCs/MLTCs/STIs about the ICDS programme and its services and issues related to early childhood care and development including child health, nutrition and education; familiarize them with the training syllabi of AWWs/Supervisors; and build up their training and communication skills. Twenty-four participants attended the orientation training.
  • Parental Workshop on “Vulnerability of Adolescents of Today and Role of Parents” was organized at Regional Centre, Guwahati on 12 December 2017 with the main objectives to: develop an understanding about the needs of adolescents and holistic development; and help parents to help adolescents to cope up with the physical, emotional and mental changes during this period for optimum development. One hundred eight nine participants attended the workshop.
  • Training on Recent Development in ICDS for Instructors of AWTCs/ MLTCs was organized at Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 12-14 December 2017 with the main objectives to: orient the participants about strengthening and restructuring of lCDS and its implementation at field level; review and enhance their knowledge on the salient features of ICDS Mission and current trends in ECCE; apprise the participants about new initiatives & new programmes related to women and children by MWCD.   • Skill Training on Information, Education and Communication (IEC) for ICDS Functionaries and Non-officials of Western States/UTs was organized at Regional Centre, Indore from 20-22 December, 2017 with the main objectives to: sensitize participants about issues on IEC as a tool; orient them about importance of IEC on challenges of Women and Child development; and development and use of IEC materials in the community. Eighteen participants attended the skill training.
  • Workshop on Juvenile Justice System & POCSO Act, 2012 for Child Welfare Police Officers of Delhi was organized at Headquarters from 21-22 December, 2017 with the main objectives to: orient the participants to develop an understanding of the Juvenile Justice System; enhance the knowledge of the participants about salient features of POCSO Act and Rules, 2012 and the role and responsibilities of various stakeholders, including police therein; discuss methods of handling cases of child sexual abuse’ and discuss the problems in the implementation of the act and skills to handle cases of child sexual abuse.   • Workshop on Implementation of ICPS of District Level Functionaries of Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS) was organized by Headquarters at Regional Centre, Indore from 27-28 December, 2017 with the main objectives to: discuss about the present status of implementation of ICPS in the States; share the experiences about child protection and challenges faced; and evolve effective strategies and solutions for better implementation of ICPS at District level.   • Consultative Meet on Gender Equality in Leadership and Participation was organized at Regional Centre, Lucknow from 20-21 December, 2017 with the main objectives to: discuss about existing status of Gender Participation in India; collaborate and explore effective strategies to meet the challenges; and suggest a framework for a multi-sectoral Plan of Action for increasing gender equality in leadership and participation.   • Training of ICDS Functionaries on Social Behaviour Change Communication (SBCC) was organized at Headquarters from 27–29 December 2017 with the main objectives to: orient the ICDS and NGO Functionaries to the principles of Social and Behaviour Change Communication and setting of communication objectives for behavior change; develop skills for effective value addition in communication process; enable trainees to develop communication materials for behavior change; and enrich the participants develop need based model for social and behaviour change communication in their respective work places.
